He is the one that holds most military aid - without it Russia will be able to annex half the country by end of the next year and remove Kiev regime by force.
8
LOL and do what, surrender?
5
And then patient dies.
3
US.
3
Yep, they shelled themselves ;) It was UA shell.
3
Not at all - he does not need to push forward. He can simply continue the war as is. Even loosing more land is OK. As long as fighting is continuing he is doing well. Remember Ukraine is a failed state. Remember most of fighting is by Donbass forces. This can go on for years or even decades.
3
So what - if he steps back he is replaced by more aggressive leader. That is bad for everyone.
3
Not really. Russia had only screening force there. They could never hold that land against any harder attack. Like they had less then 10k troops in all of that region. Notice how Ukraine failed in Kherson which is defended or their attacks in Donbass. I just seen video of Ukrainian panzer attack on Pieski that was crushed by the Russians. Ukraine does well only in undefended areas - same as Russians did in the beginning - they also went to Kiev - so what.
3
LOL, and then what, Russia won the war....
3
@Martin-u5f LOL, EU whose economy stood still in 2008. EU has 440m to US 340m so not double. American economy surged while EU stood still. Even Russia surged and passed Germany last year and Japan this year. The EU - sick man of the world.
3
LOL!
2
@Professor_Pink All points to massive UA losses at least 3x that of Russia. There is just no way around simple logic.
2
What more? Both lost their wars.
2
What if Democracy in Russia chooses to fight for Russians? Will you still support this? Russian support for Crimea as part of Russia is 95%. Even Navalny said it was the right thing to do.
2
@michaelpettit3394 So for Donbass as well? Or are you ethnically dividing them now?
2
Why?
2
How, any more slapping means NATO involvement and certain nuclear war.
2
What do you mean - clowns are involved!
2
Since UA shelled Donbass for 8 years feelings seem mutual. This is why offensive failed.
2
LOL!
2
LOL!
2
LOL, Russia - a whole country - collapse b/c of one offensive? LOL! Did Ukraine collapse when Russians were near Kiev and crossed 100s of km? No. So why would Russia collapse b/c Ukraine went 50km?
2
Russians are home in Donbass - Ukraine go home!
2
I fully agree that removal of Putin, as unlikely as it is now, would not end well for anyone. His replacement 99% would be a stronger more aggressive Putin.
2
Biden cannot walk down the stairs or up and he allowed this to happen.
2
LOL!
2
Actually less now - Russia took some back and even advanced and taken some land. I bet in 10 days Ukraine will be like -4 villages.
2
These were Ukrainians. Russian news reported it. Through I did not know the exact number. South Kherson. i.e. south side of the front.
2
@jebbo-c1l what land back? These people do not want to be with Georgia. If you are from US I hope Mexico and natives get their land back. You go back to UK then.
2
I doubt Ukraine has any chance to win, but by the end they and west will claim a win. So there will be two winners.
2
"Russia has never been known for their military expertise." yeah, and thus they magically managed to defeat west during WWII ;)
2
I think its between 800k to over 1m. 2m seems too much...
2
Ah yes, support war. Why don't you go first? EU can support Ukraine till Russian flag is in Kiev and regime is changed.
2
Ah dreams of WWIII. Careful what you wish for. Asia may not be as weak as you think.
2
But army did not roll back, they even started rolling forward (!)
2
How? They are not giving freedom to anyone. As soon as Ukraine takes over any parts of Donbass they will ship people to concentration camps.
1
Less possible then Russians taking Nikolaiv.
1
95% of Russians say Crimea is Russia. There is very strong support for Donbass - probably over 80%. So peaceful Russians will fight for their homes.
1
Since when did that happen :)
1
He does not need to. Russia has been advancing in Donbass for months now. initiative is with Russia till Ukraine surrender.
1
Which is what exactly - many defended their homes from Ukrainian attacks. What is wrong with defending your home?
1
@Crashed131963 Yeah, but that means Russia will definitely defend Crimea and to some degree Donbass. So how is that a win for Ukraine?
1
I doubt sanctions will be put of in the next 20 years or more. I doubt Putin can live 20 more years. I doubt Russia - West relations will be normal for many decades.
1
But he won the war!
1
Nothing. They simply will be at war for decades. Now you see why Ukraine cannot win. Also remember huge resistance groups in Donbass blowing up Ukrainian officials, firing RPGs into Ukrainian tanks, etc. Ukraine could go full Bandera and build concentration camps etc.... its a solution to the problem & remove Russian population that way - it has been done like this before. But I doubt Russian people would just sit by when their ethnic group is gassed next door. Maybe even EU would dislike such solution!
1
@laurentdrozin812 They can simply harass them forever & support insurgency. US had whole Afghanistan. Eventually they lost. Same here. Taliban were not exactly supported. Yet they won. US had latest weapons. So what? Besides, any war will keep Ukraine out of NATO - which is the main goal. As you can see Ukraine simply cannot win - same as US did not win in Afghanistan. Did you ask yourself - how much will did Taliban have? If Russia fully mobilized and still failed they simply would go ahead with tactical nukes and burned right through that Ukraine with western weapons. Now what - are you going to say they still somehow managed to win? Of course this is a bit out of question as Russian win can be achieved by far easier means.
1
It was a joke. They captured a senior officer but no flag officer.
1
Well, if true (I doubt it) then Russians are indeed angry about Putin not finishing Ukraine off and toying with it. They do not understand little war strategy & want Ukraine crushed. This was all over Telgram as well as Russians want a proper war. Not sure why anyone in the west wants an escalation.
1
@Professor_Pink LOL what rotation??? When we know all brigades have been on the front for over a year??? LOL!!!!!!
1
Why would people want Putin to resign? The only person whom replaces him would be someone whom is far more aggressive and needs to show everyone he is an Alpha. This would mean either full mobilization and declaration of war or that plus use of tactical nukes.
