@MSD Group It's their belief that the result will be worse if they don't apply sanctions. It's not the EU or Britain, who a currently struggling to keep their citizens at home.

@jonathon322 Chinese manufacturing us no longer cheap and was never reliable. Ultimately, robots will be cheaper than aging Chinese labour, and won't come with strings attached (or viruses).

@peterseth3296 They'd rather be poor, than keep dealing with China. Get it? So, if China wants their business, it needs to start begging. Start respecting copyright. Stop stealing technology. Stop taking possession of international territory... etc. Right now, they've made a choice to forgoe the wealth, rather than deal with China's percieved, destructive influence on their country. I'm not saying they are right or wrong. I'm just saying that pointing out the the economic plusses and minuses if the situation, shows a failure to understand what is currently motivating them.

This year's deficit, has already passed the total for last year. Meanwhile, other countries are pucking up the bill for Ukraine. Even a distant, tiny country like Vietnam, has already set aside funds fot Ukrainian reconstruction.

Conversely, the plunging value if the rouble, is the international reaction to the economic data, published by Russia's own Ministry of Finance. You know what that source means. It means that no matter how bad the figures are, the truth is much worse.

They did not support Russia 's proposal against Ukraine, two days ago in the UN. China abstained and India voted against it. Both of the have taken advantage of Russia's desperate need for new markets, to squeeze a 35% discount on Russian oil. Less than a week ago, Modi warned Putin that, "Today's era is not of war...". Some countries have friends. Other nations, need to hire Syrian mercenaries, instead.
