I don't see that Boris deserves any praise whatsoever, least of all over Ukraine. British toadying to the USA has not not prevented war in Eastern Europe, it has encouraged it.

@jrd33 War between nuclear powers is not in anyone's self-interest, which is why it should be avoided. The fact that we're not sending flesh & blood to fight by Ukraine's side is proof of this. So it raises the question: Why did anyone think it was a good idea to offer an Article-5 NATO guarantee to a country we won't risk fighting for, and one that Russia was always going to try and prevent entering NATO?

The Ukraine conflict has always been a proxy struggle between the USA and its allies versus Russia for regional power. Using Ukraine to get at Russia is one of the most cynical and disgraceful things I have ever witnessed in international politics. American and British politicians have knowingly led Ukraine to its destruction, and now they cast themselves as its defenders. Don't be fooled. Watch Mearsheimer's speech. Consider the timeline of events going back decades. Consider that US Intelligence (Fiona Hill's testimony in the NYT) knew even in 2008 that trying to drag Ukraine out of Russia's sphere would lead to war. Know that the US still pushed ahead with their plans despite this, and despite all the warnings from Russia and warnings from figures within the US like George Kennan, Henry Kissinger, Stephen Cohen, and foreign leaders like Angela Merkel. The inescapable conclusion is the US & Britain knew Russia would fight to keep Ukraine from becoming a US bulwark on their border, and wanted to provoke them to do so.
