@MrAlpinab7 "smell" yeah next time you're gonna want to inhale tobacco smoke or cyanide let's gooo
1
For BMW this is really adventurous and a good example of how to do corporate design without every car looking exactly the same.
1
I get what you're trying to go for there but 76% of all smartphone users in 2019 use Android, that's who.
1
I like the facelift otherwise but I still think the new steering wheels are absolutely atrocious, especially this AMG one.
1
I don't get where the foglights are supposed to go, but to bigger issues: 3:08 why on god's green earth did they put the climate controls in the touch screen??? I swear if motoring journalists (including you, Mat) ignore this despite ragging on the french for doing it...
1
I agree that design wise it doesn't look that good, however if you want to integrate it properly you either have to put an ugly mountain around the screen or put it lower down and if you put it lower down it's not safe to use because you'd have to look down to operate it.
1
Not sold in the UK
1
Mat is a dailyvlogger now
1
I'd hope this is the European equivalent for the EcoSport that no-one wants. Some of Europe is getting the PHEV Explorer 2020 so let's hope the UK gets it too.
1
Why do the Mercedes test cars in the UK always have these god awful AMG-line packs with these tiny wheels only suitable to the A-class
1
Yeah 40.000$. USD. You do know how much cars cost in Europe right?
1
What I don't get is that this is supposed to be a performance brand but then this Formentor is available with a 1.5 150hp petrol. Why.
1
The E-Pace has the blandest interior of any car currently on sale.
1
The thing about all these Toyota concepts... I don't know. I'm sure they will produce products similiar to most of them eventually, but I have to imagine they were largely made up pretty quickly since Toyota has put every effort it can up till now to prevent EVs from becoming popular, advertising againt them and trying to influence legislation against them.
1
I don't know why you'd get this GLB with the amg line, it's ridiculous for an SUV where the regular GLB is much more tasteful with the open pore wood on the interior instead of carbon fibre, foglights instead of fake intakes etc and the non-amg rims look much more suited anyway. Whoever specced this test car has no taste.
1
With the amount of small annoyances this car has you'd think it was an Alfa Romeo. Too bad it doesn't look like one.
1
Yup. It's insane how far regular cars have come regarding refinement and safety in the past 20 years or so.
1
The Peugeot 508 is a smaller car.
1
Just a little detail that bugs me and makes me think something'll break, when he presses the buttons for folding down the rear seats, that panel isn't fastened clearly because the panel and the whole wall for the boot caves in. On a car this expensive they can't get like glue? Screws? Bolts? Welds? When early 2000's Fiats and Renaults still have intact switches and a brand new land rover has buttons caving in brand new, that's not good news. Although I'd still probably buy this rather than a german competitor (not over an xc90 tho)
1
It's the price with the Arctic Trucks modification, so probably that causes a huge price jump
1
It's not sold in Europe.
1
@RiffShark007 No, most likely due to emissions regulations or giant taxes on high emission diesels.
1
@michaelxu1912 It isn't but next to nobody buys cars for their "intended" purpose they just like off roaders. Same applies for pickup trucks and sportscars.
1
I don't know I would've put the ridiculous rear door handles in the 5 negatives but eh
1
So there's an extra step to do everything? Minimalism, right? I'd love to buy an electric car (if I had the money to buy new) but I don't want complication disguised as innovation.
1
@klokoloko2114 I didn't just mean the software, I also mean that you can't just pull the door to open like any other car you have to first push the handle in.
1
(inhales) Holy thank you Audi for not doing away with physical A/C controls like the Golf/Leon/Octavia
1
Square Sharan, rather. They're ditching the Sharan so they're making a more car like Multivan, however if you want a purely utilitarian people carrier they're still going to base the Caravelle off the next Transporter.
1
@Digitalstar3 Oh you meant square touran because it's golf based? Gotcha
1
On one hand JLR could've made a new utilitarian defender with limited creature comforts and a ladder frame chassis at a more affordable price. Here's the thing though, Land Rover is a company so unless they want to go bankrupt, that would've been an awful idea.
1
What did they do to the rear? Don't get me wrong they had to do something cause the old one was incredibly undescript but those are not the right graphics to go for.
1
Not sold in Europe yet.
1
@Yen Yen A: A girl won't be interested in your mummy mobile B: Don't have a girl for you to pick up but maybe you're interested in my man?
1
Why do you need to? Status?
1
@AndreiAndrei-rt4po A supercar with a 4.3 second 0-100km/h time?
1
@Corvolet5 Yeah the 360 came out over two decades ago
1
I like the exterior design of the latest mercs but I don't know about the interior so much, touch sensitive buttons on the steering wheel aren't very practical and neither is a central screen pointing so far up I have a hard time believing it won't be impossible to see anything when the sun's shining. I think the double screen set up of 2018 and onwards was the sweet spot.
1
In my market this car costs more than a Range Rover Sport, BMW X5, Mercedes GLE, Volvo XC90 and it matches the price of a Cayenne. Why would you buy it?
1
I mean Subaru doesn't sell the Ascent in the UK, or anywhere in Europe really. Of course he's reviewed _some_ US market cars but those have been very extravagant cars like the hellcat
1
It's an extended version of the 508 platform so in size it compares with the A6, 5-series, E-Class, S90 etc
1
Infiniti was only in the European market for a couple years before pulling out recently because they didn't sell basically any cars so there's not enough data.
1
Could Mazda really not have spent the extra 5£ or whatever it costs in bulk to get an 8" screen? Like, screen size isn't the big deal breaker in cars but if it's tiny and dinky by modern standards it screws with the interior design.
1
It's based on the 508 long wheel base model, which we don't get in Europe. That's why it's built in China as the 508 long wheel base is China-exclusive. It's still not full size as in S-Class territory but whereas the regular 508 is more Audi A4 this one is more Audi A6.
1
It actually looks pretty good now, especially the rear.
1
Because it's in their long term fleet? They mentioned these cars are all in long term test that's why they're drag racing together
1
Joshua L what I didn't say shit about Jaguar :D
1
What's with the hideous cheap black plastic on the front of these cars... If you don't need a vent there don't put a fake vent either, worse than fake exhausts.
1
This is about currently sold new cars.
1
@omeirabdulnazer3891 Which old cars? I know 308gti, Nissan GTR and Giulietta may be out of production but are still sold new.
1
"9. Skoda Octavia VRS estate" Sure the regular Octavia is technically a hatchback but mentioning specifically the estate? A hot hatch?
