In egypt, peasants were able to sell themselves into slavery for food or shelter. It's taken a few hundred years, but here we are again. And with the levels of technological control available today, it will be a permanent thing for the human species. Suckers

Seems like the rational thing to do.
1
Socialism is always pushed by the rich. Sure they complain about it, but it's just for show and a small price to pay for the control
1
@Cartmanbraaaaah Restaurants are a recent thing. Almost nobody I knew growing up in the 80's went out to eat more than a few times a year and then on special occasions unless they were very well off. With a miniscule amount of effort, you can feed a family at home for the price of a single restaunt meal.

There are no markets. It's all controlled.
1
@psychogat3 I predicted this in the 80's. I used to fly a lot of RC as a kid. And I'm kinda evil.
1
"Hire more minorities". heh, that's the only people working around me
1
Less than that around where I live.
1
We need somebody to buy more milkshakes.
1
And deeper than that, this is about eugenics and the control of the future population

Maybe not intended, but chose a system where his is the inevitable result.

Hitler's administration decreed an October 1937 policy that "dissolved all corporations with a capital under $40,000 and forbade the establishment of new ones with a capital less than $200,000," which swiftly effected the collapse of one-fifth of all small corporations. The national socialists hated small businesses...and especially capitalism
1
@Joe-no7gs Most western government policies recently are almost identical to the national socialists'. 'Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.’
1
@HermesHeals It was. Look up "The 25 points of National Socialism" by adolf hitler
1
@fourthbeegee I agree, but that's the way it was also when I was in the soviet union. People spent money on nice things the moment they got it and very few saved up to buy even nicer things.

"Centralization of Credit in the Hands of the State, by Means of a National Bank with State Capital and an Exclusive Monopoly." --Karl Marx, from The Communist Manifesto Also "Confiscation of the Property of All Emigrants and Rebels." 🤣
1
Price controls. Good idea. Rome tried his to horrific results, but I think there are more recent examples.
1
@james6401 Increases the money supply. That's why there's always a war when you go to a new system.
1
If that were true, then a system of money as debt would mean we're all slaves. Money as debt is literally a demand of socialism
1
Cities are for people who like to pay for entertainment. Wilderness is for creative types who can create heir own.

I like the Milky Way

will it be worth anything?
1
The wealthy control the government. Government control means control by and for the wealthy.
1
Even as younger person, I literally ran out of things to buy.
1
@CheezMonsterCrazy There was an infographic a few years ago showing an iphone replacing an entire Radio Shack catalog. I remember hanging out in RS in college wishing for a lot of things, but couldn't afford any. I couldn't justify going to school today. Everything I want is basically free

The Human Bubble and planned mass die off.
1
@TrustedSilver1987 I'm sure there's a government program for that as long as you vote for one.

Don't trust anyone, do the math yourself. If you don't know how, there are dozens of online population simulators

There is ~20g of silver per panel, about $14 at today's price. Technically you could make panels with copper, or any other conductor, but if you are going to spend $100 refining Si, it makes economic sense to get 5% more energy for 14% more cost.

not enough natural resources. The entire state of AK has fewer people than my city.

What savings? One in four Americans do not have enough money saved to cover more than two months of expenses.
1
@althunder4269 They had stuff and savings, but nothing like they would had had they bought (living in socal). And not a high income earner.

@ippothedestroyer It's a very poorly educated generation. My private school experience is barely comparable to friends' and family's public education. I was very lucky and believe there is much blame to go around. A lot is cultural, but I think also almost on purpose. I have been interested in this since an altercation at my grade school graduation in 1982 between parents and administrators.
