"To a dictator the only thing worse then an incompetent general is a successful one." One of the reasons why, with all its pitfalls, the democracy is still superior to tyranny. Tyranny offers false hope for stability, which never comes. Even the most stable monarchies went through periods of extremely violent and disturbingly regular upheavals. Democracies, on the other hand, vent off building frustration through constant mixing of their inherent chaos.

@chaptermasterpedrokantor1623 "Democracies can die too" Well, all of them did. That includes ours. "by the election" Not this way, though. The people do not elect tyrants. They can vote for them once in a while (which is reasonable), but they won't willingly give them enough power to earn the title. Those "strongmen" seize what they need by other means. "Hitler in Germany" At best 30% support and falling rapidly, when he decided "it's time!". "Chavez in Venezuela" Faked elections do not count (or Soviet Union was democracy). That's "other means". "as it increasingly feels now" Other means again.

@WheelsRCool I believe it to be dead by "other means".

@WheelsRCool "Corrupt politicians were a problem right after the start of the country." Then, after a while, only the few remaining non-corrupt politicians were a problem. Nowadays they aren't anymore.
