Those were started in Killaloe, ON in 1978; their signature product is of course the Killaloe Sunrise.   11.  @yvr2002rtw  Even before that, many companies cut back on business class travel, and airlines wanted to fill the seats. So I managed to get more than a few J class trips in Embraers, which had 2-1 seating. I usually got a single, often 1A. The first thing I'd tell the flight attendant when boarding was that I knew the standing joke about that seat - if I were any further forward I'd be in his/ her seat.

  32. Not sure I'd do a trip that long by train. I use VIA Rail Business Class (used to be called VIA1) when I go to/from Ottawa to Toronto. The 4-hour trip over a meal time makes it worth the extra money, or sometimes VIA Preference points redemption. The meal is always good, plus wine and after-dinner drinks (though fewer choices post-COVID). Refurbished cars have single seats along one side, I often luck into those. IDKWYGNBIKIBTWY.

  37. The only time I was ever in Squamish was in August 1983 on a 2860 trip. During the stop there, I saw the engine's cab. That was when they ran the MV Britannia in parallel with 2860 and I had the option of taking each of them one way, but I stayed with the train both ways. The Britannia wasn't high on anyone's recommended list back then; is it still in service?

  43. Remember the Hudson Bay Railway washout of 2017 that cut off Churchill for almost a year? Everything had to be flown in, so prices went sky-high. Two VIA locomotives and 6 cars stranded in Churchill were loaded onto a ship and taken to Montreal - VIA's main maintenance base, in October that year. IDKWYGNBIKIBTWY.

  45. Awesome as ever, Mike! Only slightly less than the next one will be...and the next...and the one after that... I was in NS only once, in Halifax almost 10 years ago for a union group meeting, but I enjoyed it. While there I went to Black Rock Beach at Point Pleasant Park, on a near-pilgrimage. I went to where a friend from Winnipeg had ended his cross-Canada rollerblade marathon called Don't Stop Believing in 2010. He raised about $50,000.00 for cancer research. That was close to my heart because at that time another friend in Ottawa was dying of cancer; he passed the next month. For the Eskasoni Cultural Journeys, I'm surprised you weren't wearing moccasins; you'd look nice in them. I was disappointed that you missed the Evangeline Trail and the Annapolis Valley; no time I guess. And at Peggy's Cove, I expected you'd show the Swissair 111 memorial. As always IDKWYGNBIKIBTWY.
