  8. Can we PLEASE stop conflating being male, misogyny and being a sexual predator? Maleness is NOT unhealthy pers se, and even most misogynists would never dream of assaulting a woman or girl. If you want males to act as allies to women), starting by villifying all males is the antithesis of good strategy. The world is dangerous - rapists, muggers, drunks, and more lurk after dark. Running courses for aging men will not fix that, and the fact that only 4 men were present says plenty. Teaching personal safety courses for women rather than complaining that life is dangerous might help. It's not fair, but the universe doesn't care about fairness.

  11. Such mixed feelings. I can think of a hundreds situations where early-term abortion is the right move, but it doesn't stop there. Abortions become increasingly casual, and the life within ever more devalued to justify it with radfems describing babies as "parasites" until we have actual babies capable of independent survival being murdered. Making this a woman's choice issue epitomises the selfishness of the current me generation. "I have the right to choose to be irresponsible with my sexual practices then kill the resulting life." Nobody ever talks about the man's right to choose if he doesn't want the child. Or does.

  22. I don't blame anyone for thinking the US justice system is farcical, but it always looks appalling when you avoid answerability on a technicality, and by hiding like a rat in your stately home. Here's hoping this is the end of the monarchy. That said, Britons are NOT subject to the US "justice" system just like Anne Sacoolas cannot be forced to subject herself to the British judiciary.

  23. Do me a favour! The man had a few minutes of bravery, but it says NOTHING about whether or not he's still a danger. This man and another killed an innocent manin the most brutal way imaginable. If there was any justice, he'd be dead now, having died in a gas chamber. The fact that he instinctively acted in this one situation says NOTHING. The savagery of his crime shows a level of viciousness that will ALWAYS be a danger to others. All this fawning over him now is completely sickening.

  30. The problem is, property owners are not adapting, so rents are increasing as footfall is decreasing. And of course, the local councils have to extract their taxes too. Hopefully, all these stores can be converted into affordable homes and leisure facilities to compensate for their catastrophic decline since Thatcher.

  32. Both COMPLETELY missing the point. Allowing more immigrants is every bit as much a temporary fix as increasing the working age, which is also an appalling solution. The fact is, automation will make us ALL obsolete within a few generations, so how does society continue to feed itself and provide wages when companies would sooner replace us ALL with robots. We need to move towards a solution where our existence and thriving is no longer predicated upon our ability to work, and where megacorporations do not dictate the future of the planet.

  33.  @thetowerfantasymusic  They don't pay a living wage to immigrants because they don't have to. Immigrants are willing to work harder for less money and no employment protection. As long as it's an employers market why WOULD they pay a better wage? If the workers are in demand it becomes a worker's market. Just look at the crop pickers and fishery workers in post Trump America - both industries started offering more pay to fill the vacancies filled by illegals. They still can't fill vacancies because workers are not interested in working for employers who are eager to exploit them.

People have motivations to lie, and even the best intentioned witnesses have bad memories, poor senses, and reconstruct events. You say that the CPS should "take these cases forward and let the court decide." In other words, every case should be treated as speculative, which would cripple the credibility of ALL rape trials. Not only that, but now, many innocent MEN have to start suffering. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation, but I don't think that compounding an unfair situation with another is the way to achieve justice or public support. It's a horrific situation for women. I don't know what the solution is.

I agree that psychiatry should by far be the first line of therapy for trans people, and never, under any circumstances should surgery or hormones be used for people until they have completed puberrty, but then if, after extensive psychiatry, people simply cannot tolerate the gender that they were born as, I see no reason why they shouldn't change.
