  1. The third reason is that they just don't care any more. Covid has outrun it's usefulness and it's obvious that most people are fed up with it all. There are much more effective emerging "crises" and narratives appearing on the horizon.

  3. We had several emergency hospitals erected here in the UK when Covid broke out called the Nightingale units and they spent the next year pretty much empty. They were partially repurposed as mass vaccination centres so not an entire waste of money I guess.

  7. They talk about compensation for the "injured".... What about people who did not want the vaccine but were LIED to or were pressured by family or work who had been LIED to...? Causing extreme distress and anxiety for possibly MILLIONS of people? People like me, who was threatened with access to my kids being removed if I did not get vaccinated - which I did, under duress. Will I be eligible for compensation? I have been medically violated.

  17. It's interesting to revisit my comment two years later knowing what we now know. Dr Campbell himself has had a rude awakening as to the corruption, profiteering and conflicts of interest that cursed the vaccine rollout from the start, not to mention it's rather suspect efficacy.

  23. Metallic taste in the mouth is a symptom of pericarditis. It could be that he had that for a long time... the chronic version that is. I had it years ago; it developed over about 6 months until it was correctly diagnosed. The metallic taste for me was because of over-salivation due to water retention from my constricted heart.

  30.  @Dermahon13  I can throw myself in front of a bus on two subsequent days and the outcome may be very different even though the circumstances look the same. There is a degree of luck in more or less everything in life and covid is no different. Our immune system wanes and strengthens all the time without us even realising it. I you catch covid one week it might not effect you in the same way as if you caught it the week after.

  36. @Rab J yes in theory everyone can edit Wikipedia - that was the original principle. But now it's fairly well known that political content on the site is tightly gatekept by a small number of dedicated activists.

  37.  @RabJ208  As the most visited reference site on the internet, I'd argue that a whole lot of people, academic or not, take it quite seriously and take at face value the lies that are told about all manner of people. As for the "both sides" argument for Wikipedia... anyone remotely culturally aware can tell you the site is overwhelmingly policed by one particular side. I know of several content creators who are described in the most heinous and slanderous ways within the very first sentence of their bios. But I guarantee if I went in there and corrected them, it would be countered within minutes. Unfortunately I am not paid to do that all day, nor would my political position allow me to be so employed.

  39. Literally the FIRST consideration with a new drug must be the effect on childbirth. To not record this data simply cant be dismissed as an oversight, nor can it be excused through "its too much work / not necessary". This whole thing stinks to me that THEY KNEW it wasn't safe.

  42. It's my suspicion that most "long covid" is psychological or misdiagnosed. Everyone who had any chronic undiagnosed condition up until the media started talking about it is now convinced that's what they have. And with at least 2/3 of the population being vaccinated, of course statistically that will be more people reporting who have had the jab. Take into account also that unvaccinated people are more likely to be skeptical about the whole issue and therefore less likely to convince themselves they have long covid rather than a general malaise from the shit situation over the last year, or another undiagnosed condition.

  43. I think pragmatically it was to buy time for the vaccines to be rolled out. In a way they just delay the inevitable. But the longer they go on the more you screw your economy and make it harder for us to flourish once it's all over.
