@jorriffhdhtrsegg Indeed. Like other popular political theories I could mention, it sounds great on paper. Not so great in practice.

You'd think so right? But where do I complain that I missed out on a job because my group wasn't high up on the company's diversity quota?
1
@mattjones1776 If you don't know about it, it's called DEI. Look it up. And most governments and institutions sanction these policies. In fact, orgnisations like the IMF, NATO, EU insist on it these days and I'm sure the unions you mention also do.

The guy sounded exactly like a guardian reading, LBC listening leftie would think someone on the "far right" would be. Which is why I'm suspicious that he was real. Either that or LBC's producers worked extremely hard yesterday to find the stupidest man in the country to put on radio.
1
It used to be a once in a generation event in Britain. Until the last decade or so.
1
@Pinkdam Democracy only ever works in a homogeneous population.
1
Unless the victim is white, obviously.
1
What about that small farmer who called and that you movked the other day, James?
1
The Irish have got the third world being air-dropped into their country and this is what they are worrying about?

@forestsunset9617 Oh I work with black and brown guys regularly. It comes up quite a lot because when the radio news is on at work it's just unavoidable. The media want us all to be obsessed with race and on edge about what we say the whole time and almost everyone I ever meet, regardless of their skin colour, is sick and tired of it.

I mean if you're an actual conservative like me, the Tories seem indistinguishable from the Labour party, with a couple of cartoonish exceptions like Suella. Blaming them for spreading far right hate is clownish 🤣 They are responsible for the disaster of mass immigration that has predictably resulted in this horrible violence.
1
@Mark Welch I'm amazed that party politics is still a thing and people have not woken up yet. The Tories this or Labour that. They are the same people mate. Anyone that genuinely threatens the establishment is crushed, whether it be Corbyn on the left or the BNP on the right. Surely all but the most clueless normie midwits can see it by now...?

My thoughts exactly. The current understanding is that if you transposed all the neurons in a brain directly into bits of data, there would be not even a fraction of the capacity to do what a biological brain does, suggesting there is something much deeper going on within each neuron at quantum levels. Maybe deeper than we even know of in quantum physics. After all, the AI is still running on a bunch of GPUs which is conventional silicon technology in principle the same as the first home PC. The suggestion is that an arbitrary level of complexity exists somewhere on the line between my old Apple II and Skynet at which "consciousness" is emergent. Which seems hard to believe. For the record, I don't think Skynet was actually conscious. Just a highly intelligent agent with an objective.
1
Consciousness is entirely subjective.

I actually like Sam Harris' definition which is, to paraphrase "What it's like to be..."

Be ready for a log burning ban. I'm amazed it hasn't happened already. I've also got a log burner and as a builder I've spent years stockpiling scrap wood from projects. I can run my stove for years.
1
Yeah, her ancestors were immigrants just a thousand years ago.
1
@carlryderiselvis Ah yeah, I was being modest. My ancestors' origin in this island was as recent as the the Norman Invasion. So I'm immigrant stock too. Ergo that Somali guy who jumped off a boat on a Sussex beach yesterday... he's just as English as me, don't you know 🤣
1
With mass immigration you mean? I agree.
1
More is required to be an Englishman than just having been born in England.
1
Seriously Nick this was pretty a pretty low ball. You ambushed her by asking perfectly reasonable questions. I bet if you had the MET Police Commissioner on, you'd sneakily try and catch him out by asking questions about crime. For shame 🤣
1
But she mentioned the unmentionable word.
1
As a far-right, I'm rolling my eyes as much as you are. For different reasons of course.
1
Gun towers on the border. You think I'm joking.
1
Yes he probably is. He and his friends are idiots because they are a gift to the authoritarian state; the Prime Minister even now using this opportunity to talk about stricter curtailments on protests of all kinds. He represents the "bad optics" that any radical movement has to deal with.
1
From what I understand, healthcare bills are the USA's #1 cause of personal bankruptcy.
1
They got Brexit done in the same way that every Prime Minister ever has promised to get immigration under control.
