The "Germans" = were called "Germanic " by the Romans only, which includes all Germanic tribes which were living to the right side of the river Rhine, while the ancient tribes which were living there didn't even call themselfes that.
The term "Deutsch" = "Thiutisk = us people" are living around todays Germany since thousands of years, Charlemagne started the HRI of German Nations, only because todays Germany didn't exist 1.200 years ago, it didn't "pop out of history", it's called "cultural backround"...which goes for most of us humans world wide 😊
Yes, and why is it like that?
Because todays federal states are the ancient territories of the biggest ancient Germanic tribes, like the ancient Saxons, Bavarians Franks Thuringians, Swabians, Prussians etc.
Btw, todays federal state of Saxony is by name only Saxon, as it got its name due to in those days usual wedding politics, the people of todays Saxony are the descendants of the ancient Slavic tribes.
The territories of the ancient Saxons are todays Federal States of Lower Saxony, Bremen, Hamburg and partly Saxony-Anhalt (only the Saxony part).
Greetings 👋

@StoutProper Yes, and I've already had arguments with some of these here. Unfortunately, the international tenor regarding right-wing parties etc has changed quite a bit, not only in Germany, sh. Sweden, Italy, Hungary, UK/ GB, Poland, USA, Netherlands, France, Turkey, Russia, should I continue? To be honest, I don't understand why these "fascist sh*ts/ far right" are so popular again. Humans obviously have learned nothing from history. I find it more than worrying !!
Btw, being part of a family with six Nationalities (Belgian, British, Spanish, Italian, Polish, German) shows, that it is possible to live without hate.
