  7. Awful? Having too much empathy would probably end up in everyone sacrificing themselves for one random guy who might be in trouble. A good example would be a from a story from halo: a non-violent species known as "engineers" is so empathethic that it was once observed how 5 of them died to save 1 of their kind. That might somehow sound wholesome at first but in reality its a terrible survival strategy, which is why you usually don't see such behavior in nature. The primary objective in life is to survive and not to sacrifice.

After a coup you usually have a regime that is the same as the old in everything but name. The people whi actually want freedom in a revolution usually lead it and have taken responsibility for others. The masses usually just care about having a carefree life. This is why people eventually stop voting in an established democracy. As already said: relying on the masses to carry your idea is a death sentence. There will always be a point where the majority takes the status quo for granted.

Whenever I walk down the streets of the nearby city and I see all the random strangers, all I can think of is how their lives mean nothing to me and vice versa. I dont necessarily want any of them to die but I have no actual reason to care if they do. So why would I care about even more random strangers, most of whom I will probably never meet in my life?
