  1. See? An affair still destroys a marriage in Japan. I've heard countless sketchy foreigners in Japan try to say that Japanese married couples don't mind it if their partner cheats on them, because they see it as purely sexual and not related to love. Personally, I think the kind of people that say this only say it because they want to justify cheating - either cheating they do now, or cheating they'd like to do in the future. It doesn't work that way though. We're all human. Cheating hurts everyone, including Japanese.

She knows what she's doing is wrong, but she's saying that it's good because she can put her kid in a good school and take care of him when he's sick due to her flexible hours. You don't automatically become smart because you're stuck in an expensive school. That's like the moms who think by sticking their bratty kids in an eikaiwa class a couple times a week is going to get them fluent in English and ahead of the crowd. It's attitude, not money, that does it.

  9. It's better to just love yourself instead of look outwards for love. If someone's meant to come your way, they will. If not, not. Never get attached to the notion that you need sex/love/a boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse.

It means you either break up and find someone new or you just accept that you can't have sex until your partner wants to. Don't teach your kids that it's acceptable to cheat. Show strength. You don't always get what you want in life. It's better for a kid to have divorced parents with morals than a cheating parent or parents who stay together.

The rule for the youngest woman to date is half your age plus 9. That means if you're 50, the youngest age would be 34. Anything younger than that, and you're mentally ill.

  31. Porn will always exist because people get horny. It's not really about being for or against it. It's not a good thing, but it exists, just like prostitution. I think people are deluding themselves when they say that it's OK though. There simply is no such thing as a healthy porn industry in ANY country. There are ALWAYS exploited women, diseases, drugs, and suicide. It's unnatural, so it screws with people's minds. I think the people here talking about how this ex porn star is sweet and cute are deluded as well. If you spend your time identified with your body and sensual pleasure, then you don't know who you are. You will be in for a shock when you get older and that body isn't as sexy as it once was. If that was your whole identity, then aging is going to be very painful. It's all fun and games when you're listening to an interview or even doing the interview, but I guarantee that if you actually got involved in porn or had a relationship with a porn star that your mental health will deteriorate, and likely your physical health will too. No amount of warning young girls and guys is going to stop them from getting into porn. It's like smoking. People know the dangers, but still do it anyway. It boils down to values and education. To just be told that something is wrong isn't going to change anything. You have to know through reasoning that something is wrong. That's why you always get people that you'd least expect in porn, like priests' daughters. They've been told what they shouldn't do, but that just makes it all the more enticing. Interview this woman again in 30 years, and she'll likely be dead. It's her profession to make men fall for her, so we naturally like her. You have to strengthen your discrimination though to see beyond the surface.

  43. I think by now, every single person in Japan has met a western person. It's not like Japanese are so dumb that they can't understand that characters in movies aren't real people. Japanese get the news just like everybody else does of all the failed marriages, suicides, and bad behaviour of western celebrities. They meet English teachers and other westerners in their daily lives and can clearly see they are not the same as movie or TV characters. And, in the same way, westerners aren't that stupid that they think Japanese people are like manga characters or J-pop idols.

Anyway, I question the idea that Japan is being "flooded by uncivilized individuals". There are still many uncivilized Japanese nationals. I hope you don't run into any of them, because they can make your life hell. Also, there are plenty of foreigners who add to Japan's value and civility. There are many foreigners who keep the peace in Japan. Also, don't forget that the US's massive military presence in Japan helps keep it a peaceful society. If they pulled out, you'd see a rise in uncivilness.

  50. I dated a Japanese girl who worked in the office of a dispatch ALT company that I was teaching for many years ago. It was hot, but she started talking about kids and marriage early on. She didn't directly say "I want to get married and have kids asap", but it was getting boring how frequently she would talk about someone just getting married or someone else who is having a baby. I overlooked a couple of major red flags and still really wanted to be with her, but eventually she broke up with me. I found out about a year later that she had gotten married and already had a baby. It's like some people don't even care about the person they're with. They just want to be married with a child. Your partner should come first. Kids should be the RESULT of loving someone, not the purpose TO love someone.
