  1. Poland and Hungary aren't the genuine corruption problem states. It's just they're the ones Zeihan doesn't like for geopolitical reasons. Corruption in Bulgaria and especially Romania is way worse. Corruption in Lithuania and Latvia is pretty bad too.

  5.  @stephenderry9488  In reality Northern Scotland has pretty good health outcomes, the really bad health problems are from the poorest parts of Glasgow. As for obesity, some of the USA e.g. Mississippi is way worse than Scotland.

The government goes to great expense to make life easy for immigrants and to make assimilation easy - for those who want to assimilate. Blaming the "racism" of host societies is a particularly stupid slur on the most open cultures on the planet. If it were actually true, these societies wouldn't allow high immigration at all.

The Russian military is pretty good, the exact opposite of how clowns like Zeihan portray them (he actually claimed in a war with NATO, casualties would be a thousand to one). Doesn't mean you want them to win to acknowledge that. As for Zelensky, the guy is a slimeball. Elected on a peace platform, he was threatened by the nationalists so did a 180 reversal and escalated. He tells blatant lies. He signed an agreement with Russia a month into the war which would have ended the war on good terms but then tore it up. If you're a Ukrainian patriot, the guy has been a disaster, he's destroying the country.

I'm not trying to make any kind of anti-English argument, I'm just pointing out Zeihan is factually wrong and it's obvious he's deliberately talking down Scotland's prospects because of his own pro-Washington agenda.

Netherlands and Denmark did detailed studies on this, on average only immigrants from other Western countries (or Japan) contributed more on average than the host population. Immigrants from non Western countries were a net cost and for many countries, a huge net cost. For example immigration has cost Netherlands 400 billion Euros overall. Also some immigrant groups commit vastly more crime than the host population on average. This is obvious to anyone who lives in Europe.

France's involvement in Niger has nothing to do with a Jacobian world view or even national prestige and everything to do with extremely cheap uranium supplies for the large country which relies most heavily on nuclear power. Bizarre that Zeihan didn't bother mentioning this essential information.

Immigration is running at over a million per year and has pushed up the cost of living massively (especially in the south) while depressing wages and standard of life generally. Anything to do with the state has become dysfunctional and people are starting to notice. That includes the NHS. As for Zeihan he's shown over and over he knows little of the world outside the USA which is ironic for someone who markets himself as a geostrategic analyst. He doesn't like Brexit because he's a globalist it's that simple.

As for immigration being necessary, why? Most immigrants cost more than they contribute. Look into the Dutch and Danish studies quantifying the benefits of immigration - the Dutch found immigration cost them 400 billion over the years i.e. that it was a huge net cost, roughly equivalent to the entire benefit they got from North Sea gas. The reason is obvious. Most immigrants don't come from successful countries, they mainly come from parts of the world which are unsuccessful. They bring with them their culture.

  43. Not just that Russian armaments production is right up, Russian casualties are lower and this year, Russia has taken more ground than Ukraine has. Even more, there's severe infighting in the Ukrainian leadership now, close to an open war between Zelensky and Zaluzhny.
