It would be great that he no longer backed up that project. I know I wouldn't. A breach of trust is a breach of trust.
111
And almost none of the code is there, because many of them are not competent programmers, some don't even maintain long enough, and the developers they ousted previously were the ones who did the code.
92
Those are not developers. The developers were kicked out.
79
I see a pattern: they attack projects that can be the core of other projects (programming languages, kernels, DEs) or that provide a way to people to be free or educate themselves (browsers, web platforms). The pattern is clear, and the purpose too. It is all about control.
57
If I had a bot correcting me, I would write: "Don't you know that you shouldn't interrupt people and keep your suggestions to yourself? So, shut up!". And then I would continue using the word "guys".
40
Get Wokot, go Brokot.
38
Yup. Never occurred to me, either. These nutcases always bring the unimaginable.
34
And they are. Follow the money.
20
Watermarks can be removed. Basically, enhance the contrast to turn white shades to white and black shades to black.
18
It is a stupid move, really. Politicians doing what they do best: destroying what works.
18
They will go broke. Nonetheless, stop funding them will always serve a better purpose: not funding our enemy.
17
Spoiler: it will.
17
The litmus test of non-woke distros. Anyway, Devuan earning points, again! I was kind of expecting that they would embrace Xlibre, and they didn't disappoint.
16
Christians don't enforce DEI. The "christian leaders" that do enforce DEI are not Christian, but dead set against Christ and God. That's why they enforce DEI. So, Lunduke, either you don't know Christians by Faith, or you are misleading.
15
Well, OBS got even more woke, instead of fixing issues with their own software. Wow!
14
Of course a cockroach like that hides himself from the light of scrutiny, because he has no spine and his argument does not hold any water. Great job on doing detective work. Kudos!
14
And that is the objective. Centralize control. If any content is legal or not, they don't care, as long as it is not against THE MESSAGE.
13
@techpriest4787 The language is judged by the actions of whoever is pulling the shots. Because Rust is declared to be political by its own foundation, we can no longer separate the political from the technical concerning Rust. Best to use a language that only deals with technical aspects. In fact, their objective of converting everything C and C++ to Rust is a political power move, because it has no technical basis. There is no justification whatsoever, even on the basis of safety, when C and C++ has tools to deal with memory leakage, and the issue is a non-issue.
10
The CoC "thing" does not need to be redone. It needs to be completely demolished.
9
One thing, for sure, is that Linux is already turning into mush (Linus, on the other hand, is already mush, BTW). Now, some programs in my computer will freeze after a completely unrelated kernel update is done. I have to restart. Some of these programs were done by myself, but they used to work flawlessly until recently. And it is impossible to debug this behavior because it is a hang and not a crash.
9
@LasagaMan Anything Rust free is great. Not only it doesn't have that ugly brown color, but also you don't need to spend extra effort on moving it and also it won't make a squealing sound, or worse, seize completely. It will roll smoothly as butter instead.
9
Does mommy have blue hair?
9
They have a "social contract". Between them and who, I don't know.
9
And that can be noticed in the latest versions of said software. For instance, the Ubuntu and Kubuntu 24.04 LTS distros are way more unstable and unfinished than their 22.04 LTS counterparts. Terrible!
8
Those are the pawns of the game. What you have to question is who is giving the money.
8
Leaking memory might not be memory safe. When an application does not bother to "clean after itself" by properly releasing memory, it increases the attack surface.
8
Basically, the cult of Scientology of programming languages.
8
@KopperNeoman No, by its definition, "open source" means you are free to modify.
8
@200milesaway6 Rust will not work for systems development. It is just crazy to even consider Rust for a kernel.
8
@SeekingTheLoveThatGodMeans7648 You are also preaching out of pride, when God asks us to be humble.
8
@CentreMetre "Undesirable" is the correct term.
7
The EFF was an institution that I had in high regard once upon a time. Now, not anymore. I also stop donating to NGOs, because I don't wish to fund terrorism or any actions that might go against people.
7
Python is pretty much on its apex. It will decline.
7
That reminds me of the contributor convenant.
7
@sciencedaemon "Prejudiced"? I'm yet to meet a Christian who is prejudiced. LOL
6
@neilpatrickhairless Well, at least he said the truth. And he never said he did earn it. But surely those DEI guys didn't earn it. At most, they took it.
6
I don't remember C, or C++, being a religion, or having fanatical people, although I believe fanaticism exists everywhere. But with Python and Rust, it is common to encounter people defending their languages as if there was no tomorrow.
6
Pretty much, and not just Black Rock. Funnily enough, the Kaaba is a black rock, and represents Saturn, aka, Satan.
6
@Bvic3 The Ivy League ideas don't form in a vacuum, and their source is the same. For millennia it has been so. These ideas are not new: only the implementation is.
6
@schrenk-d "The system is more fair because rich people are also subject to it". Funny. The same with taxes, but that doesn't mean taxes are fair. That is completely debased thinking.
6
And they simply paid nothing to get a share.
6
Good point!
6
@auspiciouslywild Those rules are called "morals and common sense". They didn't need to be written, because everyone was decent.
5
Yup. Predictable of them.
5
It will speak directly to Satan.
5
The rustification of everything is so annoying. They never heard the principle: "if it is not broken, don't fix it".
5
Piracy preserving feature is a more adequate name. Basically, looting user generated data.
5
Pineapple on pizza is horrific and the perversion of an Italian staple. As for Wordpress, clearly we are dealing with adults that have a child mentality.
5
@NewtrendsMe Yes, that Recall.
5
If Tor was really independent, and not a government project, it would have received several cease and desist letters. No government wants an encryption program they can't control, because they want back doors in said program.
