Of course it is being weaponized. Proof is out there. See what happens to a project if it doesn't adhere to the CoC. See what happened to project that adhered to a CoC. This is no longer a question, it is a fact!

When I heard the news about the charges, my immediate thought was fabrication. The guy just got framed like Monalisa. Meanwhile, Facebook is known for harboring indecent and illegal images and nothing is done.
2
Clearly a foot-in-the-door tactic to take over another browser.
2
Yes, they can ship their product, but their product is influenced by upstream decisions upstream. So, any OS that relies on the Linux kernel has no choice, unless they fork a previous version of the kernel that was not rusted yet.
2
Cancer would be a more appropriate term. And the carcinogen here is M$, DEI, and other activated toxic agents. Anyway, regarding the Wikipedia issue, they are constantly planting the "oh, no, if you don't donate, wikipedia could close tomorrow" trope, with that FUD level of urgency.
2
What was the criteria for the layoffs: white or asian males, anyone right leaning, or anyone having the surname resembling Lunduke?
2
Which is very true.
2
Inevitably.
2
I wouldn't expect anything else. Rust is not stable, period!
2
No, the truth is that left-leaning people do tend to think that the world is for them, and that's why they don't believe in private property, except if the property is already theirs, of course. Right leaning people are, at least, more conscious.
2
So, basically Google proposed some shady business to the Mozilla Foundation, and they accepted it. 🤦♂
2
Probably DEI something.
2
I would not be surprised, and I'm not. Drew DeValut accused Stallman of som many disgusting things, that it was clear that he was projecting. Now my suspicion is confirmed.
2
This goes far beyond that. There are political, even spiritual motivations and implications. The end game is to destroy and demoralize.
2
So, what happened to the philosophy of preserving all messages?
2
@janmaker227 Indeed, Linus is weak as a noodle. That's why he needs to berate others in order to fell superior. Not that I'm sensitive, but some of his rants show weakness.
2
That classification of alpha, beta, gamma is so futile, that trying to fit it into any context is like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Unfortunately, some people try to explain every social event in the perspective of that ape sociology. The matter is evidently political, and ultimately, about elitist control. It is an "infiltrate the cabinets" thing.
2
Free advertising, with the complements of the mini foundation. :P
2
Jordan Peterson is right. When people deny God, the first thing they do is to seek other gods and create cults. The cult of vax science, the cult of Python, the cult of Rust. All fanatical people.
2
Now, the billion dollar question is: who wants to buy a problematic browser that is riddled with issues?
2
@bastardferret869 I'm not an atheist, by the way, but I'm pretty much against these guys that try to preach when they should remember Mathew 7:3-5. There is a difference between religion and faith.
2
Anyway, is there a woke tech activist that actually does meaningful programming?
2
It was open source, but just for a little while. Not it is no more. This really speaks volumes on how corporations view open source.
1
The people behind this are either filthy rich, or supported by filthy rich and influential people.
1
Now I know the difference between free software and open source software. RMS was right!
1
@auspiciouslywild Those rules are called "morals and common sense". They didn't need to be written, because everyone was decent.
1
The old adage "Get woke, go broke" never seems to get old. These people are either utterly stupid, or big saboteurs.
1
This must be a move to destroy anything technical. They are trying to destroy core technologies. And nothing gets more near the core than C and C++. This is completely ridiculous!
1
Mozilla is clearly run by psychopaths. Only psychopaths think other people are stupid and actually gaslight people.
1
@729usbow You don't. I do. Why, because I don't want to have a kill switch installed in the OS I use.
1
Yup, I confirm that the rebrand is completely and utterly stupid. "Global Crew of Terrorists", that's what they are. And the logo really violates any good design principle, with its changing thickness and dissonant styles. I just hope they won't harass any users now.
1
Good is evil, and evil is good.
1
The future of computing is, IMHO, computing. Unfortunately there are people that have to politicize, or soil, everything. They always infiltrate some organization, and when in enough numbers, they start decimating the staff, includind the board of directors.
1
So, the phrase "we are the thin blue line" is offensive to them? LOL
1
Definitely AI is helping... not!
1
Ableism reminds me oh an heat shield. I don't know why. :P
1
You are now called Voldemort. Seriously, this proves how weak these leftists are.
1
Well, I think I will hop to OpenMandriva.
1
In a homage to them, I decided to rename every "main" branch in my repos to "master". A more fitting name that is mentioned in the Bible as well. I'll have to thank them because all I had to do was to follow their own instructions in reverse.
1
A study from Portugal. Nice! I'm surprised with how Rust compares with C, but that was years ago. I think, since the Rust specification evolved, a new comparison should be done.
1
CoCs need to go, and so the respective committees (notice that the word "committees" is actually a hint).
1
Good to know.
1
Again, Linus is spineless, and treats the kernel as his own pet project. The problem is when the same kernel is running on millions of computers.
1
Going to use Brave again.
1
@unter1103 But accusing Stallman of sexual harassment is a stretch.
1
Mastodon is leftist as heck. I'm not surprised that it harbors indecent pictures. Just as Facebook. So, illegal activities are not the problem, but the lack of censorship of Telegram.
1
Corporate sponsors are the bane of OSS. That's where the fall started.
1
So Codeberg is a political movement?
1
Me too.
1
@urielalbertodiazreynoso6309 It is the same thing. The end result is the same.
