  3. I know dude, that part made me break down in tears. I'm a 42 year old woman but when I was in my early twenties I dated a man who I later discovered had a girl who he had kidnapped hidden inside his apartment for almost a year during part of the time that I dated him. He would never let me inside of his apartment because he said his roommates had an agreement that "they wouldn't bring people over if he wouldn't bring people over", and he liked it quiet cuz he worked nights. He was verbally in psychologically abusive to me so I ditched the guy later that year. The following summer when I was living in a whole other state, I got a phone call from a public defender back where I used to live. They asked me if I could be a character witness for this dude, and I laughed in their face. It took me a while to realize how shocking it was to know that I was dating somebody who had the potential to do it we later found out he did. Not only had he kidnapped her come up but he was torturing her. Thankfully she survived the incident, but it was very shocking. I was 24 and he was 27 at the time. He was doing this to a 16 year old child. He recently got out of prison after doing almost 17 years. It's really made me not trust myself, I have a really difficult time when it comes to dating people. I've been in therapy several times. I've also been abused physically in other relationships. I was recently diagnosed with autism as well, so I think that has something to do with why I didn't notice red flags.

  5.  @skinnertilt  it just depends on the individual's physiological reactions. I am autistic and I have PTSD along with adhd. My body is always out of line with what my thoughts think! My body tends to react to the physical environment around me rather to what my body is thinking. I have to get into a deep state of meditation if I want to self regulate my body, because it doesn't come easy.

  6. I send you a condolences. My cousin was murdered in 2004. I have underwent PTSD therapy in the form of emdr. It helped me out immensely. I encourage you to look into it.

It's so sad that homeless people, prostitutes, drug addicts, just people who are down on their luck in life, they often become victims to serial killers because the killers realize nobody cares about them. It's very sad. If those Killers only knew that these people are loved and once had vibrant lives before whatever circumstances of events occurred that led them down the path they went.

  8. It's not that people with ASD avoid eye contact, it's that we make inappropriate eye contact. I have been accused of "acting creepy" by a couple friends in the past because I stared at them directly in their eyes when we were talking. As I've gotten older, I glance down more often in social situations, but when I'm with my friends and if I'm talking to an interviewer or stakeholder, I usually make sustained eye contact until I'm at least done with my sentence or until they're done talking. I am high functioning autistic from a diagnosed with Asperger's about 5 years ago as an adult.

My current bf is a sociopath, if he didn't have ADHD, he would likely be a type 2 psychopath because he has a difficult time focusing long enough to perform executive functions on a regular basis. LOL regardless of that, he's one of the smartest individuals that I've ever met. He's highly intelligent. It's wild. One of the things that makes him the most intelligent is how he can read people immediately. He underwent substantial trauma as a child including being thrown down the stairs by his own mom which left a dent in his head, and he grew up in North philadelphia. Both of his parents were involved in drugs and gangs. He watched his dad slit a dude's throat when he was in elementary school. Because of all the trauma that he has endured, he is left with extreme hypervigilance. This hypervigilance allows him to perceive other people's emotions acutely, even down to their micro expressions. He over-analyzes to the point of seeming paranoid, but a lot of times his analysis is spot on. He just takes it too far sometimes.

Most psychopaths just manipulate and cause triangulation, but it seems like the ones that grow up in extremely violent or neglectful environments are at higher risk of committing felonies.

  15. The dispatcher is a hero for keeping her calm, remaining a voice of reason, and most importantly, relaying to the officers exactly what she hears going on in the background. That's the point of keeping her on the phone. That's why the dispatcher says you can keep the phone on the ground and not speak if you don't have to. But evidently none of you guys heard any of that. I've called 911 before and I was that the dispatcher I spoke to is halfway is a competent as this one. I was getting the shit beat out of me by the father of my children and the dispatcher hung up on me because I wouldn't "calm down". I'm dead serious. Dude was kicking me in the face and I was crying and begging for help! I had already given the dispatcher my address and name as soon as they picked up the phone because I was being assaulted and I wanted help immediately. Plus they had been out to my apartment more times than I could count at that point because the neighbors were always calling the cops due to his abuse.

  18. Yeah, the people who run this channel do a good job applying logic and explaining the narrative with a critical tone. One thing that I would like to clarify though, as new things are found about ASD constantly, is that people on the ASD spectrum make inappropriate eye contact. It doesn't necessarily mean that we don't make eye contact or that we look away all the time. It also means that we can stare inappropriately, especially when in serious situations. I am autistic, and when I'm in social atmospheres I tend to shift my gaze a lot from people's eyes because it feels invasive, but when I am speaking directly one-on-one with somebody in an intimate setting, whether it's in a workplace, with close friends somewhere, at a job interview, or with stakeholders at lunch, I make sustained eye contact because I feel that I can read the person's energy much better and I feel that I'm creating a deeper bond with them. Also, making sustained eye contact lens oxytocin to flu more freely, which invokes feelings of love and pleasure. That's one reason that I'm glad I don't make eye contact for very long with strangers! LOL

  20.  @cambriaofthevastoceans6721  that's what they're trying to do, they're trained to ask questions in order to keep the victim in a state of consciousness and help them stay grounded. The victim was crying, she is in a hostage situation, I can't imagine how scary it was for the dispatcher to know that she has someone's life at stake. Dispatcher did her job professionally and amazingly well.

  21.  @vcamv2354  I would struggle with remaining objective. As a former lmhp, I have a lot of compassion and empathy towards people who have suffered through severely traumatic pasts. However, there's absolutely no compassion that I would want to have, therefore somebody else needs to do it. That's why people who have less emotional empathy and more cognitive empathy are better equipped at this type of role, for instance a psychopath, or somebody on the spectrum (I'm autistic, but I have hypervigilance otherwise known as being a "highly sensitive person"/HSP) who doesn't have hypervigilence.

  24. There's 8 million psychopaths in the United States alone. I'm friends with quite a few. It's pretty unnerving. The covert ones are the most worrisome. Most of my friends are sociopaths, or type 2 psychopaths. Factor 1 psychopaths scare me the most.

  27. If she is in a mental facility there's no security that could prevent her from killing somebody else again. When she is in prison she can receive psychiatric treatment and therapy while making sure those who have to be in contact with her will be safe.

  29.  @Nstev84761  yes and she failed this miserably. If there wasn't enough evidence in this case, she would have gotten this dismissed. Sometimes I confession is all that a case hangs on. You clearly are not versed in how crime scene investigations and what's admissible in a court of law.

The dispatcher was quick-witted enough to ask relevant questions that led to the police finding the house, and she also was able to convey to the police that the girl was inside of the house despite the house looking like it was completely empty and being shuttered up.

  33. Yeah it really did. I'm still shook and struggle to mendously with the fact I dated somebody who later on did 17 years in prison for something horrible to a teenage girl. Every day I was still wonder what the hell was wrong with me. I also you know, it's just pretty scary. I let that guy live with me and, ugh. I just thank God I'm here safe now.

  34.  @E-Kat  it doesn't have to be a movie that shows every gory scene, it can be something more psychological. I hate horror movies and I don't watch scary movies. In fact, ever since my cousin was murdered in 2004 this is the first true crime series I've watched! The last time I saw a movie was when the original saw first came out in theaters. I remember laughing when Danny Glover got the crap slapped out of him 🤣🤣🤣 but yeah, I used to really have an issue with people that like to scary movies, especially the ones that show women being victimized. I would go off on Facebook and my other social media accounts! 🤣 I was working through some pretty serious PTSD from domestic violence at the time.

That's a drop in the bucket compared to people who have to live their lives without their loved one, and for a lot of victims, well now they'll never get to carry on their family name because they w murdered. Destroying family lineages. 15 years, smh. I know black people who've been locked up longer for simply selling a few ounces of pot!

  47.  @BZ1610  they ask those type of questions in order to help stabilize the caller's emotions by keeping them grounded. I understand it can be frustrating, but without asking these questions, people can spiral into a panic. They can start begging for help to be on the way, and the more emotional somebody gets, the more likely the chance that they abductor will wake up and attack.

  48.  @Stringbats  not at all, if somebody is in a crisis mode and they're not in a stable mind state, their emotions can get the best of them, they can panic, they can run directly into danger. The first thing that we learn when somebody is in crisis when working in the mental health industry is to deescalate and evaluate. De-escalation is so, so important. If she would have spiraled into a panic attack the abductor likely would have woken up. It's important to keep the line connected because without knowing what's going on in the background, dispatchers can only assume the worst.
