Every state has different laws and enforcement policies. I don't know the difference between WA and QLD. Laws can be very different, maybe it's a small fine in WA and possibly gaol time in QLD.

One of the first discussions regarding the virus in dealing with remote communities was basically nobody in and nobody out as much as is practical. Sensible people take the virus seriously.

But woolies is my only share doing well.
1
In reality that's true but it's clear many Victorian's and New South Welshmen aren't happy because they're aware of the situation elsewhere in Australia.

Good for China and a few other Asian countries. They will need more stock soon.

The police in Thailand not that violent.
1
The story sound believable except for the amount 5,000,000 Bt sounds way too much. Only about 5% of Thai would have assets worth that much. But in the end no violence. Thai police would be more corrupt on average but still much less violent than US police. I know Thailand having stayed there many times , have some investment there and girl friend there. The treatment of Muslims in southern Thailand previously can be compared to US in some ways but that was mostly military.

Out of more than 20.

Many steps in Queensland was only hours notice. This is the way it needs to be otherwise people will take advantage of the time to spread the virus. People are people, majority will do the right thing and the minority need to be catered for unfortunately. Don't take it personally which I know from myself having similar reactions previously.

@juicygoldengrapes it's better late than never. In the US he would be considered the best governor of the country based on performance with this issue. He just looks a bit out of place here, but it's good because he has a lot of pressure. Australia wants to open to NZ but Victoria is preventing that because other states understand Victorians would be offended and lose the plot, in other words internal diplomatic issues. Normally such situations don't exist.
1
Most states have Victoria needs to succeed then they can be like other states.
1
@Alliwantedwasapepsi Are you kidding. They have a 60% voter turnout give or take.
1
I don't think the US can, there are too many divisions. Even the use of handcuffs for the most minor offences and non violent is for a high income country only in America as far as I'm aware.

What a bunch of entitled brats, thousands can't go to work at all and have already been vaccinated but this mob still allowed to work at reduced capacity, it's just they need to get vaccinated like the majority of eligible citizens in Australia already have.
1
It won't. The underlying causes of the problems in the US don't really exist here. Of course we have our issues and things aren't perfect. The problems in the US seem intractable but over time the race issue should get better simply through intermarriage.

Sort of yes

Maybe in this part of the world we should call it the Victorian virus. People have been gaining illegal entry into Queensland saying they haven't been in Victoria so we have tightened border controls. Even one people smuggler some New South Wales person I think put a friend in the back of his hatchback to sneak across the border. So what you say isn't entirely out of the question lol.
1
@LowkeyUzi2614 yes and the main component is most likely socio economic group regardless of the race of the person

@KarnageGaming look at Italy now, maybe better than some neighbours but not good. Have confidence that the Vic government will stay the course, that's why the number was set so low for complete opening.
1
It's not the time to do so, when Victoria is back to normal is the time.

Reading through many of the comments in this thread I am thinking the military members should be carrying alfoil hats for distribution. The army assisting the police are just lackies they have no power they will be just doing as the police tell them , the boys who go buy the coffee and stuff man any check points things like that. They can't lay a finger on someone, only a policeman can do that unless self defence or something. Fast hard authoritarian regimes like my Queensland, Western Australia and New Zealand haven't needed the military so much , once things are out of control it's much worse , Melbourne learnt the hard way but this time they seem to have control but NSW waited way too long for Delta, too arrogant unfortunately however don't hold it against the government too much, you have had less lockdowns up to now but this one will be hard. Best of luck and take care Mexicans. (I mean that in a friendly way)

@delos2279 not that I am aware of, they haven't changed position at all. Nothing was said in the preliminary report that drugs caused the death but that they were there. The current charge could not have been made if the preliminary autopsy didn't indicate that the police officers contributed to the the death in a major way. I am same age to Floyd I have hypertension and probably other issues, so what, about 50% of males in my age group probably would. I don't have strong opinion on who is right, I don't know I am not a medical examiner. Others should take the same view rather than rush to judgement, I have no reason to believe either are acting in bad faith.

Hey seen a Woolies or Cole's you've seen them all. I assume Melbourne has such supermarket chains. Maybe some will have to switch chain not a disaster.

China put tax on our barley about a day after the US became a preferred supplier of barley to China. What da ya think?
1
Malaka90 the death rate is because of measures taken and tests conducted what's your point.
