  1. Trump has successfully expanded BRICS. The argument they make is to protect other country's sovereignty. With Trump it is now well known that the US is a threat to all country's sovereignty. It's not just Trump but the obvious support he receives from people at conventions and also from Fox News hosts and Fox News is the largest individual main stream media outlet. Personally i fear China and Russia more than the US but i can understand other countries thinking differently. The reason why I fear the US less is because Trump is an ineffective dictator wannabe. It's not because i believe Trump is incapable of stupid stuff.

  3. I am pretty sure the threats work in causing other countries and corporations to react. Think about China in particular, I am sure agriculture products purchasing companies are sourcing more products from other countries whenever contracts with US suppliers expire. It's actually fairly easy for China to not buy any US agricultural products, plenty of other suppliers around the world.

  4. Not necessarily, the reason for increased food prices will be taxing imports. As goods like food are supply and demand producers can't necessarily raise prices even if wages are higher. What can occur is the value of the farms go down as they are less profitable.

  6. He's right and wrong at the same time. The comments by Vivek don't give any nuance and don't accept that diverse groups of people create the best outcomes. The US while being diverse in some respects is extremely insular , you unfortunately in my opinion don't look for best outcomes based on evidence. The US has similar policies to China in some respects, far right socialism that subsidises corporations to produce export products. Basically you both want to subsidise the world and pay a personal cost for it. Exporting subsidised goods is bad for both your countries and also hurts some other countries, why do you want to pay agricultural subsidies for broard acre farmers to crush poor poor people in other countries and yourselves. I am fully supportive of the Australian free trade agenda which a few years ago was supported by Republicans who thought Reagan was onto something, but now Trump has literally reversed 90% of Reagan's policies including the free trade agreement between USA, Canada and Mexico.

  7. Trump should be charged by the ICC. While he might not have committed a war crime yet I would suggest threatening to commit multiple war crimes should be an offence. Invading foreign territories and settling them and annexing them is considered a war crime. On top of that Trump threatens complete ethnic cleansing of Gaza and Netanyahu just spoke favourably of Gaza becoming US territory that Israeli's can live in. Trump wants the US to be the new Empire. Absolutely delusional and dangerous because 3 other countries have the same ambition, Russia, China and Israel. Israel would be an extension of the US empire because the US would and already is funding and supporting the greater Israel project.

To be fair many Christians are the same but many Christians are to this day crusaders especially in the US. They are also Zionists. I am Australian and although Indonesia and Malaysia aren't perfect and still have some draconian religious laws against their own people for the most part they leave other religions alone.

I am not American or from the American continents but as a complete outsider i have little sympathy for those who either voted for or if couldn't vote supported Trump because they thought they were protected but had no concerns about others in similar situations where were clearly not protected.

  14. If Trump follows through with tariffs on all imported goods he'll actually cause more harm to the US than the rest of the world. Economically the US is about 25% of world GDP. Once Trump is done that'll probably only be 20%. The US might actually cause it's own irrelevance as a major trading nation as Trump is literally copying Chairman Mao's great leap forward policies.

  20. It should be noted some of those goods have import quotas on them when imported from Australia. So with beef and sugar Australia can take up the slack for a while most likely so price increases on these goods will be minor. However the moment all quotas get filled from Australia and any other countries with similar arrangements that's when prices will increase substantially and or those goods become difficult to find. This of course will apply to other goods, i just mentioned ones applicable to Australia.

  21. Just looked up what Canada imports from the US and other than oil products it's actually very easy to replace US imports which is mostly machinery and vehicles. Can easily just change to European and East Asian suppliers.

  23. Adam you are confusing freedoms with democracy. Whilst they regularly exist together aa a democracy can be authoritarian and a dictatorship can on occasion allow fairly high levels of freedoms ironically, Singapore is an example of this. Usually dictatorships aren't benign but sometimes they are. There are benign dictatorships in some US red states where the gerimandering is so bad it's virtually impossible for the Democrats to ever gain power.

  31. It's a bit hard for Australia to tariff Tesla because they're Chinese made and we have a free trade agreement. Not a good idea to start a trade war with China, personal boycotting is a better approach and it seems to already be occurring. There's plenty of other Asian brands that are also tariff free and in my opinion much better value for people who don't want a sports car.

  34. The checks and balances are an illusion. Any country with a President that is both head of state and head of government is at high risk of having a dictatorship. In a parliamentary system while the risk isn't 0 it's far far lower because nobody has that much power and the head of government is easy to remove. Trump wouldn't last 5 minutes as Prime Minister of Australia.

  35. In US English liberal has a different meaning to the rest of the English speaking world. For the rest of the world it just means somewhere near the centre and accepting basic freedoms and non authoritarian ways of doing things. So centre right and centre left parties are both liberal. In the US the Democrat party isn't liberal and nor is the Republican party. They both cross the line and bully and don't accept election results. Both parties will target political enemies, a good example on the left if Gavin Newsom governor of California giving tax breaks for electric vehicles but not Tesla, the guy is no different to Trump saying he will target companies or individuals he doesn't like. Hope one day your political parties actually become liberal.
