  6. @rustyshackelford9414  Clearly you're a conspiracy theorist because according to insurers that assess risks electric vehicles have less fires than internal combustion engine vehicles with hybrids having the most which makes sense because they have the risks of both the batteries and engine. Literally billions of lithium batteries are produced each year and a small number are faulty and catch fire. If the batteries are in vehicles they are much more highly regulated and would generally have lower risks than the less regulated uses.

  10. The camps for illegals isn't uncharted territory because of internment camps in WWII, however the conditions prisoners need to be treated has probably changed. Creating large homeless camps might not be legal especially if done by force and whether or not such camps will actually be prisons.

For the US to get out of the hole it is in requires the corporate tax rate to be are 30% or so and for benefits to be cut over time as in increases below inflation rate and healthcare system to be overturned. You can't improve things by digging a deeper hole and neither of your political parties are going to do whats necessary until it's too late. 125% government debt to GDP isn't something that can be fixed easily, most countries would have collapsed already with that problem, the US is somewhat protected by the USD being the major reserve currency but it won't protect you forever.

  17. For those who don't understand the basics of law the enforcement is in common language a request. The courts are requesting that the federal government stop breaking their own laws. The only real enforcement action available against the executive government's actions as a part of the government is a political one as in impeachment. We haven't reached that point yet and based on Senate confirmations are a long way away from that. If the Senate chooses not to impeach no matter what your country is a dictatorship already.

  18. People are getting scared, there's going to be a mini spending boom that will abruptly halt once Trump puts tariffs on things, especially if done to the entire world. He could possibly cause a recession in his fisrt 2 quarters in office. The idea that it will be slow and gradual isn't correct unless the tariffs were slow and incremental, that's not Trump's plan. From the free trading nation Australia 🇦🇺 where we get higher wages, better social security, close to universal healthcare and cheaper consumer goods including many basic foods. Housing costs are a bit high here, that's our main problem. It feels funny to be on the same side of an argument as China against the US.

  19. When it comes to China, evidence is the damage is already done. The rate Trump threatened is 70% not 10%. It's 60% across the board last time Trump mentioned a number and 10% on top until the US wins the war on drugs. China isn't waiting around , it's probably not a coincidence that the final trade restrictions on Australian beef have been lifted. China will be looking to in laŕge part Brazil, Canada and Australia to replace agricultural imports from the US. If Trump doesn't follow through a lot of damage has already been done and some of that damage will be very hard to reverse.

  20. It amazes me how little people know about tariffs. It won't just increase the cost of imported goods , it also pushes up the prices of domestic goods because every major business uses imported goods. A new store fit out for a Walmart is about to become more expensive because it's not believable that an entire store fit out doesn't use imported goods at all. Things like light fittings, cash registers, refrigeration systems and security systems will all have imported components if not be fully imported in some cases. Walmart needs to account for this and start recovering those costs now to ensure that they don't lose major money noting their profit margin is less than 3%.

  23. Trump and those around him have openly said that the military would be used for mass deportations. The only way this can be done is using martial law. The US population has voted in favour of martial law, that's just a fact. You might argue Americans are ignorant, maybe, but how do you get 70% of people in favour of this , it's not believable 70% of people are that ignorant. Have to remember those who didn't vote approved of Trump gaining power.

  25. I'm Australian and one Premier of our largest state by population lost his job over an undeclared bottle of wine he received. The irony of this story is that same government wrote the rules on the matter. In most free democracies the threshold for losing your job regarding gifts or other ways of receiving money is actually really low.

  26.  @SherSpirit  I do understand your reasoning, however it's not true , the US has a king or queen elected every 4 years who nominates thousands of people into his or her cabinet , none of them are elected. So if you want to not have a temporary monarch then a parliamentary system is better. Nobody in Australia has real power, a Prime minister is only 15 minutes away from being deposed when Parliament is sitting and can't choose unelected ministers, have to choose from elected officials.

  27. ​@RichardKatchuik I am Australian and intend to hard boycott on US goods and a soft boycott on US companies. The only food items Australia tends to get from the US is out of season fruit and a few things like sauces. So it's really easy to boycott US goods but difficult to boycott US companies as they dominate certain manufactured food in Australia and New Zealand.

Corporations are literally buying up housing stocks and even trailer parks and charging as they would say what the market can handle. Or in other words how much can we charge before too many people decide on homelessness instead and hurt our bottom line. The youtube channel a better union is very good at exposing US corporate greed at any cost. Not sure who originated the term but the bean counters are very well employed right now. To those who don't know what a "bean counter " is , it's an accountant that calculates whether or not causing people harm even up to death is cheaper than doing the right thing from a purely financial perspective.

Like it or not the US has effectively created a strict 2 party state and I understand and totally agree at your federal level the Republican party is terrible, applies in many US states also. Australia has a trade deficit with the US, so no idea what he's thinking threatening a blanket world wide tariff on something.

  41. Have to be careful and basically put tariffs on things that won't effect business. So for example can as you say put extra taxes on internet entertainment services and any food imports like cherries for example when it's northern hemisphere season. Shouldn't put tariffs on things like mining or heavy agricultural equipment of which the US produces some of the best products. Trump's tariffs will be ill considered blanket tariffs but the countries retaliating will only put tariffs on goods they can buy elsewhere. Basically Trump's trade war puts the US at a big disadvantage because he doesn't care about US companies especially those that need to import certain goods including manufacturers.

  42. If what this clip suggests is true, it's time for the US to change it's constitution regarding federal elections so that all voters regardless of state are treated equally. Also that electoral college votes are distributed in the same way noting a few states go on proportionality but most states go on winner takes all , proportionality is far more fair.

A parliamentary system is better because the head of state and head of government are different people and the head of government can be removed in a matter of minutes by a majority of his or her party parliamentarians.

  50. The Republicans are half right. The US is in trouble, the only reason nothing bad has happened yet is because USD is the major reserve currency in the world. Taxing the poor more with tariffs and cutting welfare handouts, medical , food stamps etc. isn't the answer. The answer is to tax corporations at an appropriate rate and stop corporate welfare mostly in pharmaceuticals and healthcare and agriculture.
