How so?

Should have a mash up of all the "lock her/him up" chanting at rallies with Trump doing his smile thing enjoying what is a very close thing to a lynch mob , ( lynch mob causes death not only indefinite detention so quite similar but not the same) . Since lynch mob came from someone called lynch describing extrajudicial killings, maybe a Trump mob can just be extrajudicial imprisonment which is what he was advocating.

He is openly saying the US won't help any other countries until all US citizens have access to the vaccine. In other words don't care about other countries. This is inconsistent with many world leaders, Xi now looks better regarding this on more than one level and not without good reason. Why is it the Bill Gates Foundation is now way ahead of the US government ?, and Trump's conspiracy theorist base even want to destroy that. Is the US going to be just some failed isolationist super power (like Russia) or a part of the world community? This question will be answered relatively soon I guess depending if Republicans decide to make the government disfunctional for ever and Georgian voters help to make this occur.
1
@charlesdemarest1171 I didn't say he is king of the world even if the US portrays it's president that way. The US under Trump has made it clear it will not be part of any international efforts to get vaccines to other countries, our Australian PM and the UK PM and the Chinese President have all made it clear that they will support international efforts to get the vaccines to the world in a somewhat equitable manner. So the only one that is constantly referred to as the leader of the free world , so a significant proportion of the world, is the only one denying all responsibility and being isolationist.
1
@charlesdemarest1171 actually I quite like your reasoning in your last comment. It does do something at least in the short term though and that's sending a message. In some ways assuming the transition under the circumstances is as smooth as it can be it gives Biden a bit of a boost because if he just behaves like a regular world leader ( not necessarily leader of the free world ) he will look good without doing anything out of the ordinary.
1
Like your name , quite appropriate because that's the nickname of Aussies and Kiwis at the moment for obeying government and getting rid of the community transmission of the virus.
1
T West that's just a silly comment. Guns and large numbers of people might have something to do with conquering indigenous people in the US.
1
Polly Ticks interacial marriage was only permitted by law in Alabama in 2000. Just a few years after 67.
1
Polly Ticks the law in Alabama was unenforceable because it was unconstitutional as you have just pointed out. The thing is keeping that in the books until 2000 sent a certain message and not a good one unfortunately. Symbolism matters a lot to some otherwise why does anyone care about some statues of people that died more than 100 years ago.
1
@autismospectrumlini914 not exactly, the African is technically a pure breed homosapian, all the rest of us have neanderthal in our blood, it can be as high as 2% apparently. Those in Asia Pacific have Denesovin in there blood also.
1
T West yes disease killed many but the proportion , I don't know and that was the same in Australia also. There are many parallel but significant differences between what occured in the US and Australia regarding the indigenous people.
1
Not a religious Aussie but I totally agree with your sentiment.
1
@izsoftie7283 I was born that year or the year earlier so nah can't really remember but have seen photos of it occasionally. Of course I wish the people going through that well but I can't pray for that because not my belief. You have a great day.
1
The difference is the leadership, some Republicans are calling for violence indirectly whereas no Democrats in leadership roles are doing so. We know from the Jan 6 committee Trump wanted more armed people let in and we know the instant Trump said go home during the attempted coup d'etat they did.
1
A guideline, I think you will find many civil laws are like this. I am in Australia and unfortunately I have found this to be very much the case in one industry I invested in. Basically the powerful can just completely ignore the law and you can fight them in court with your own time and money and no penalty to them, worst case they might pay your court costs but the powerful person might not have any financial interest so they pay nothing. I am talking about strata title property industry or whatever you call it there.
1
Well from a technical point of view riots cause a lockdown effect and actually probably slowed the spread of the virus. A study was done and that was the conclusion that it either made no difference or slowed spread. Most normal people stay in their home if rioters are on the streets because it's dangerous. The Trump rallies and biker get togethers are different, one difference is the average age of attendees and the other is I am not afraid that my house or business will be burnt down from some drunk bikers or people attending a Trump rally so I will continue to do my normal thing.
1
BETTER IF AT THE END OF YOUR COMMENT SAYS PLEASE RESPOND IN CAPS BECAUSE MY VISION IS POOR RATHER THAN YOUR CURRENT COMMENT. YOU ARE A BIT AGGRESSIVE REGARDLESS OF CAPS.
1
@effenkat3893 Just general tone, not necessarily the caps.
1
@effenkat3893 I don't disagree with that
1
Their deaths are up actually because I am sure you are aware that excess deaths are around 300,000 at the moment in the US year to date and not all covid 19. Because health systems are struggling in many cases etc. You are right more are dying than just the headline number.
1
It does because of the different weather patterns around the country , so different times are more conducive to virus spread in different parts of the country.
1
Not really, vaccines aren't perfect but they do reduce risk of death or severe illness by about 90% if people decided to use them. Check the rate of deaths in Australia right now versus the US and then check the vaccination rates. While there is other factors one factor in the negative for Australia is no naturally acquired immunity, it's all for intensive purposes from vaccines. Yes infection rates are shooting up like crazy but not deaths, about half of our recent deaths are in the unvaccinated.
1
@jacobmcbeth6922 Yes that's right, so keep 20% of the elderly population unvaccinated they will keep dying. It's fact that doing something only has a 90% effect on reducing deaths give or take, so why do nothing and then whinge and complain. You want a loved one to pay with their life on some principal that you think that Pfizer or Moderna misled you, have to say that's serious dedication to your cause.
1
@jacobmcbeth6922 back to your original comment you said "it wouldn't have been a problem", well at 90% effective against catching or spreading you would still have 20% of oldies unvaccinated so it would have changed little. The conspiracy theorists actually only need 1 case to prove their point.
1
@jacobmcbeth6922 I said it's barely effective at preventing catching it, but so far all evidence points to very effective at stopping deaths but only if you take it, if it was 99% effective the antivaxxers still wouldn't take it is my point.
1
Whatever is wrong with Texas it doesn't compare to many African countries, Iran , China and North Korea where he'd be dead or in prison by now for speaking up. Nothing to do with race.
1
@freddielong2275 now idea what you mean by "this" , on Trump's Youtube channel I observed people talking about how they would take up arms and that they were more powerful than the left because the left doesn't like guns as much to ensure Donald Trump remains president some comments stated that there will be civil war if Trump is removed and this was on Trumps YouTube channel , that to me was certainly an open threat that the president should have been aware of, is it really possible nobody monitors Trump's own social media accounts open messages? I think that's impossible but maybe the US is that disfunctional, what is your opinion?
1
"They" might increase in numbers if anything happens to the dear leader. Trump will be a victim in many peoples mind, consider what they think now, do you think having been deposed as the rightful and dear leader and then imprisoned is going to make them any less supportive of Trump?
1
44 cases of people becoming unconscious due the chokehold in that particular police department over a 5 year period, this was standard practice despite what you might have heard in the courtroom. The police Chief threw Chauvin under the bus, and then became a BLM supporter taking the knee. Police Chief has wrong skin tone to be questioned seriously.
1
@HeartDocAndrew I'll be right thanks.
1
@HeartDocAndrew somehow you are doing my head in lol
1
Actually look at your skyrocketing public debt, your previously paid taxes don't currently cover the functions of government. More accurate to say borrow more money and hand out the cash. An alternate method might be to tax rich people and big companies a little more and direct welfare away from corporations towards social welfare like other wealthy countries do.
1
@SandyWolf- thank you for your answer. I guessed that's what you were thinking. Problem is all terrorist in the world who have attacked on foreign soil entered legally and in the US illegal immigrants are more law abiding than Americans. Most illegal immigrants entered legally to the US and overstayed visas. I certainly agree you should adopt Australian policy which compared to the US is very hard-line but you need to recognise the problem first.
1
Others don't like paying for it and might be refused care for other issues because hospitals can't cope and or catch the virus causing their death while vulnerable going into an infectious hospital. This is not being reported widely in the US but as nursing home deaths increase so they do from being infected in other institutions like hospitals.
1
One needs to be found guilty first for it to apply and the process is that if 2 thirds of the senate find him guilty. Likely he will be found not guilty because need 17 Republican senators.
1
So what is the term if it's a black woman who really puts someone in danger or gets them killed over minor issues? The security guard at the $ store was shot dead in a pre meditated murder when what's her name ordered an apparent hit on the guard because he was apparently impolite in requesting she wear a face mask or not enter. Another what's her name opened fire at a McDonald's because the dining room was shut hitting 4 workers. So I want to stay on top of terminology so as not to offend, so could someone please tell me what to call these individuals.
1
The comments show how the US is so backwards, a homicide rate 5 times that of other wealthy countries and the answer is to lock up more and more people when that policy is a proven failure, worst in the world in fact for a wealthy nation. The definition of insanity is .....
1
@ashakabeta I didn't suggest you don't vote, all I am suggesting from afar is the problems go very deep and the dis-function is very real.
1
Just picking who he wants in each role and asking them if they want whatever job. This needs to be done a fair bit before January 20.
1
I feel for you but can't see how it can be done in your country because no state is willing so far to put serious travel restrictions in place so it can never be got rid of. In Australia with 7 major jurisdictions only one border was open during the initial lockdown and all flights were cancelled. To get there it takes a very serious effort. If a few states went it alone they could but seems unlikely. Also in some parts of your country very difficult to shut state borders because some states so small and interconnected, so maybe would need regional approach. Best of luck and stay safe the best you can. Everyone hoping for vaccine because even in countries with no or little covid the travel restrictions means no international tourists or students.
1
Your comment seems to be one of the more rational ones at the moment, a bit of a worry.
1
It's for the local audience " all politics is local". If not the US should have nuked about 5 countries while Trump was president because he threatened that also.
1
What does China have to do with a hundred cases if that entering the UK and was warned by the WHO it's outside of China and the UK new this because they found a few cases and UKs completely failed response creating even new strains?
1
That's a lot, the population of South Africa only one sixth or so of the US.
1
It's too early to know, needs to be at least 3 weeks with a lot of cases then start to get death data. Discovered less than 3 weeks ago.
1
Well it was during Nixon's time that an attempt was made to end the electoral college system and had bipartisan agreement in the house but blocked by both Democrat and Republican senators from small states. Can't say for certain but seems Nixon wasn't opposed to the change.
1
@Mother Hen You aren't considering cost at all , it's cheaper just to vaccinate everyone, antibody tests are just another cost which achieves no greater outcome. The US is excellent at over medicating and aggressive treatment regimes for some and ignoring others, you don't manage to be the lowest life expectancy of a wealthy nation through an excellent holistic health system. If the reported drop in life expectancy is correct then the US has a lower life expectancy than China now which is a middle income country. The thing is for cancer treatment or heart surgery or whatever you can find the best hospitals in the world in the US , where it all falls apart is there is no coherent system. The US government actually spends more on publically funded healthcare than many countries.
1
Nobody is taking the direct threat of blocking the aid package seriously. The threat is if you don't vote for me you won't get money until the end of January. This will certainly win a certain number of votes the question is will it lose more votes than it gains, it's all a numbers game and unless the Republicans say this is wrong it will work. I am not American but curious if anyone reads this is the threat a positive or negative for the Trump vote at this stage?
1
Is it possible to find 100 or so people willing to be traitors at $2,000,000 a piece? I would suggest yes so getting faithless electors shouldn't be a problem, so can Trump get state legislatures to knowingly choose such electors? Don't know but it isn't beyond the realms of possibilities and I can't see how the Electoral College vote could be overturned because the votes although cast in a "faithless" manner are still cast lawfully it would seem. Wish you guys the best of luck and hope those state legislatures don't go down this path. From Australia 🇦🇺.
1
Americans have to stop speaking b.s. "emergency authorisation" means we believe it's pretty good and safe and it has some efficacy but we guarantee almost nothing hence the wording emergency use. Better if he speaks the truth I think.
