Look at the deaths per Capita in the country south of the border compared to Canada.

However I watched a clip on Fox News Michigan , certainly not government sponsored media and it was clear goods not getting through and as of 2 days ago $50,000,000 in estimated lost wages on the US side. There was no arguments about the facts. The fact that a trickle of goods were getting through is neither here nor there. That's like saying North Korea is trading no problems because some trade occurs but we know that's not the case.

  13.  @davidmacfarlane1763  The irony is everywhere is opening up slowly and protestors particularly in the Canadian situation are slowing the process down, as far as international unvaccinated travel it's not going to happen any time soon in most countries so protesting about that is just ridiculous.

  14.  @VerySadButTrue  There are laws everywhere and the peaceful protestors in the park not breaking serious rules were left alone the previous ones were breaking the law and some got arrested, peaceful protestors not interfering with others or the government aren't being touched. Do you support the peaceful ones essentially following the law or the ones breaking the law. Pick a side.

  16. The business owner in this case was in agreement. What you say is true though, Australia is reopening and the US looks like it's a game of mitigation and not overflowing intensive care units. Australia is not the only country doing well and political system etc makes no difference, it's just a case of countries that are functional and not for this particular issue.

Unless the Canadian military is very different to other modern militaries he would have had 10 different vaccines already and using his uniform and rank to send an anti government message along with not getting vaccinated is serious insubordination. His only hope of not getting a dishonorable discharge I would think would be to get the vaccine and plead guilty to any charges, even that mightn't be good enough.

My perception from Australia which has an almost identical vaccination rate is that your provincial Premiers and Federal government are a bit timid to open up because of previous experience, Australia seems on average a little more open however it's our summer so that's a big difference, don't know what will happen in our winter but at the moment most parts of our country doing fine in a relative sense.

I am not Canadian but I actually sympathize with them because they are completely wasting their time and being led to do stupid things , as far as the border goes that's up to the US and internal restrictions inside Canada will still come off at the same time they were going to anyway. Some of these truckers will only achieve hefty fines for themselves and possibly in some cases losing drivers license or whatever, making their own life harder and gaining nothing. If you think all provincial and two national governments are going to cave into 1,000 or so truck drivers you are delusional.

Veterans weren't fighting against vaccines at all , that's just absurd and currently military as I said are highly vaccinated. The test in the courts will be about if a particular measure is reasonable not the constitutionality of mandates in general, so it's possible a particular measure might be seen as unreasonable. Governments being able to govern will remain intact.

The protestors stated intention was to overthrow all governments of Canada technically because they would be calling the shots a on health policy in every province and federally. What on earth that has to do with me in another country is beyond me. Maybe you personally support the rent a crowd and that's up to you. Canada and the US certainly have free speech.

  29.  @ripvanwinkle4532  there is no travel restrictions and in fact the US model all states has an inbuilt virus spread accelerator. You lockdown business in one state or county with high case rates to encourage people to travel to low infection areas, the virus couldn't ask for anything better and the best example of how to spread a virus with a partial lockdown. No state or national border in the US has hotel quarantine. As far as the partisan arguments variations in weather and densities make a big difference. South Dakota is probably the worst jurisdiction on the planet for killing it's citizens with no big city and about 40% rural population yet 0.18% of population dead, I think they found a way to infect farmers. Lockdown countries with border quarantine include China, Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam, Australia and New Zealand, other countries maybe falling of the rails but same policies in general South Korea, Japan and Thailand. None of these countries have anywhere near the deaths per capita of continuous lockdown lite countries and on average are actually lockdown less, just restrictions as required. My city Brisbane Australia went into a 3 day lockdown over a weekend without a single case of community transmission, the reason was because of a quarantine breach with a cleaner at a quarantine hotel, I don't think they found any cases and lockdown lite up to the 14 days period need to wear mask. Population highly compliant back to normal in a couple of weeks most likely. About 450 cases of community transmission in a state of about 5,000,000 and 7 deaths I think, so full lockdowns certainly work and partial lockdowns especially the US model ensures spread throughout all major states and territory even Hawaii , Alaska and Puerto Rico that are geographically isolated, done better than almost all mainland states but by international standards given low level of difficulties very poorly.

I am in Queensland Australia, we have gone from Covid 0 to now very few restrictions, much less than Canada or NZ and our population was very obedient after the 2 or 3 people got locked up for doing the wrong things. We are a rarity in the world but when it comes down to it high compliance has had high freedoms, only freedom that was lacking until recently was freedom to travel in and out of my state and country but that's all now over unless you are unvaccinated.

Whether or not a horse collided with someone is irrelevant because they were silent on that. You can say it would have been better if they told the whole story and actually I would agree with you but to make a claim that they lied is incorrect.

  39.  @a.e.bridwell8236  I watched 3 videos of the matter and personally I would have said thank goodness I wasn't trampled but it was damn close, if I was trampled and the horse stepped on me with half a tonne maybe I am dead now. I also rewatched the news clip and they made it very clear police stepped up actions which led to some violence. Ma'am or Sir don't be grumpy with your child or children for having a different view, even though on a personal level I think Canadian provinces could reduce restrictions a bit more quickly it's not a reason for a small group to attempt to hold the entire country to Ransome by an international blockade which if done by another government would be considered an act of war.

Unfortunately propaganda keeps changing the English language especially in North America. Quarantine came to mean do whatever you want go infect anyone if you want but maybe consider not doing that in North American and European English, in Australia , New Zealand and Singapore we certainly retained the original meaning with 14 days mandatory enforced quarantine or in different terminology quarantine.

  42. You are right in both cases. Think of the US healthcare system as a fleet of top of the range vehicles but with children trying to work out how to drive those vehicles. Lack of coordination and willingness to make tough decisions means every mainland US state has failed.

  46.  @KayJay940  Yes that's often the case, truth is governments are usually reactive and "pragmatic", by pragmatic I mean if it's not a big problem they do nothing because they don't see the harm especially with people thinking it's unfair which it is. If one of those drivers ploughs into a crowd of people killing 10 they will make a law because of public outrage but until then most governments will do nothing because they can't see votes in it and too much work for them.

Look at Australia and New Zealand, some of the toughest jurisdictions in the world, everything is open and much higher freedoms than the lockdown lite countries who never bothered getting rid of the virus. Yes any outbreaks from quarantine breaches do incur short sharp lockdowns in local areas. Victoria Australia had more daily cases than Canada in about September but got rid of it completely for a while but have had another minor outbreak. Even though you won't be told it Victoria Australia is the model some are now trying to copy. So don't worry and hope they finish the job this time so can get freedoms back rather than constant fears of the next lockdown lite.
