  1.  @kelperdude  you're one of these nutters I think who will simultaneously claim Biden is just following the Trump plans on vaccine rollout and overall approach on this matter ( and you would be correct except a little more organized) and Biden is communist wanting to lockdown the country ( you would be incorrect, he has done nothing more than asked people to wear masks which is pretty pointless because only minimal benefit on its own) despite media rhetoric border still wide open just like with Trump only stopping foreigners from entry, meaningless probably USA isn't exactly a sought after tourist destination at the moment actually. Policy almost identical but Biden at least isn't encouraging people to get infected, so he jumped the bar for current US political standards.

  2. It's in the eye of the beholder. Trump supporters are in alignment with Putin and Xi, so they would refer to China and Russia as allies and visa versa. Looking from afar even if Biden isn't perfect it's far better than the last guy and least know that the US is an ally. To be fair Trump didn't do anything bad with the US Australian relationship but he did do some harm in Europe I believe which Biden has corrected.

  9.  @oldfogey4679  the last election was not contested but quite a few people not happy winning popular vote by 3,000,000 which was a losing election. So there are many who would prefer a popular vote. As far as saying you don't trust the mob with nuclear weapons and a million strong army, instead you trust 50 different governments to carry out an election to a high standard is rather surprising and surprises me that anyone agrees that different rules for eligibility in all those states is seen as fair.

  14. I agree with your sentiment however that is the US system, the operational government is run by 1 individual who nominates the entire government, secretaries of this and that. I am Australian and the idea that one person nominates elected or unelected officials to make up the cabinet seems absurd. You have an elected king or queen operating in a similar fashion to an absolute monarchy. The US Constitution was great over 200 years ago, now it's actually a rather backward document.

  19. Here's an interesting thing that might relate to what you say, really I don't know what to make of it. China's position is they want to talk to the US to sort out differences which has been far more aggressive than Australia in my opinion but that could be my bias speaking and maybe China doesn't see it that way, however simultaneously it also holds the position which they have held since Australia called for the WHO enquiry into the origins of covid 19 that Australia shouldn't be communicated with until it complies with settling some Chinese grievances, one grievance I found particularly interesting and that was that Australian media outlets including our government funded one even if not explicitly stated are reporting negative things about China. Both Australian political parties on the core issues relating to China totally agree with each other but do disagree at the edges in how this might be best dealt with communication wise from my impression.

  21. @Gage King He referred to BLM riots as peaceful, that crowd understood what peaceful meant and they followed his orders extremely quickly actually, when he said go home after 3 hours they did. Every convicted rioter so far has said they were doing it for Trump and it's laughable that they were doing it for Biden because as you know he already had the votes, they didn't need to do anything to ensure the victory of someone that had already won. Reason nobody in Congress was harmed is because they failed to get to them.

How is saying BLM rioters burning down cities whilst being called peaceful by Trump at every rally left or right, just like saying the Jan 6 attempted coup d'etat failed. Some did bring fire arms and as we know from Oath keepers texts they failed to get there weapons on site. Failure after failure for the coup attempt, it was still a coup attempt by a bunch of losers if you want to call them that.

Most authoritarianism is through money not guns, create the laws that favor one group over another and you can oppress them, they will even vote in favor of their own oppression if the propaganda is good enough. Case in point the socialist US spends more on publically funded healthcare than Australia on a per capita basis yet we have universal healthcare. Although so far I have never actually got a response defending higher taxes for less services to this comment I have put literally 100 times or so , it's clear to me this makes people uncomfortable. I have had a couple of responses saying that they want to buy insurance etc. well nothing stopping people doing that in Australia should you choose that. Apparently low cost universal services (the savings are in part from those who want to buy their own at minimal subsidies) is communist, I would argue it's common sense, I hate high taxes and my money being burnt.

Imagine if you refused to watch any of the smaller mainstream media and only went for watching the biggest of the biggest mainstream media company's Fox News and instead of actually watching their news which on their YouTube channel is almost non existent and chose or can only get YouTube to just listen to editorial from Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingram et. al. Trust me or experiment yourself do that for just one week and you will start to believe Joe is the devil or something. CNN or MSNBC aren't much better in editing out things that don't support their agenda but the editorial for the most part isn't anything like that on Fox.

  30. I saw a clip of Bannon on Rachel Maddow's show on MSNBC's YouTube channel I think it was. Bannon's plan is fill all the secretary of state positions with Trump loyalists who will refuse to certify election results etc. to create a constitutional crisis. That's consistent with the attempted coup d'etat on Jan 6. So long as Trump is still alive you will have problems.

  32. Trump probably isn't a direct threat but he has radicalised many, it only takes a few of them to become terrorists and they can do a lot of damage. Trump used rhetoric that for example the Oklahoma Bomber used. Economically he has done a lot of damage because the US government debt has skyrocketed especially with his handling of covid 19. If Biden's tax plan gets through this might help a little but because your country is in a really deep hole getting out will become more difficult I expect but being the biggest economy in the world you can get away with things other countries can't. The corporate welfare in the US doesn't make up for lack of social welfare for humans and this is the most stark difference between a country like my country Australia and the US. Australia is more free trade and less industry welfare but relatively effective social welfare. As an example the US governments spend more as a proportion of GDP on healthcare yet it's not universal and from a holistic approach has lower outcomes because life expectancy in the US is about 4 years lower. Covid 19 has shown how deficient the US health system from a holistic point of view is, 500 covid 19 tests in the US by the end of February and no contact tracing or quarantine to speak of , so hundreds of cases from China if that became millions of cases and much more cases came from Europe anyway with again no quarantine. In comparison Australia 10,000 tests by the end of February for 1 fifteenth of the population, contact tracing and quarantine for all arrivals, on testing South Korea with about 1 fifth the population of the US 100,000 tests by the end of February. US people could have handled it being done properly and Trump would be the greatest president ever but although the initial failures don't seem to be his fault the continued failure to the point of encouraging people to infect each other certainly was and to use his own words allowing the virus to spread throughout all states and territories he should be punished. Maybe he will be in the end we wait and see.

  34. I doubt it because any aggressive orders he gives will be met with very strong resistance. He can't really start any international problems because the US is a mess internally. He could I guess cause problems in the next week, I think it's only a matter of time before a highly armed "peaceful protest" goes horribly wrong, this is a real risk , no opinion if it could spread though. I am not American , just observation from afar.

  35. ​@timemaytell4669 There would be mixed opinions about Trump in Australia. Go and check a few youtube clips on Sky News Australia, they're pretty much a carbon copy of Fox news. So people who watch them are Trump supporters. The thing about Trump is he is so unpredictable so the question is would he follow through with getting the US out of NATO for example. It seems for whatever reason Trump likes Russia and hates China which is completely inconsistent but makes sense in a protectionist way. This does mean however from an Australian perspective we are less concerned than the Europeans. Also Trump wanting to start a trade war with China will probably help countries like Australia and Canada as we compete with the US on agricultural products in particular and China of course will retaliate. Trump if he gets in and realised his tariffs on China plus 10% on all other countries will do the poor people in the US huge harm with more inflation on everything from food to electrical appliances. Australians really don't understand Americans and your politics because we think both sides are nuts in the US, no secure border, public healthcare spending in excess of Australia but not universal etc. and it seems like neither party wants to fix things that are truly broken. Internally you have very serious problems leading to the lowest outcomes in most metrics for a high income country.

Even though people posting violent threats on Trump's own YouTube channel all Trump needs to say is I didn't believe them, militia groups have been threatening to overthrow the government since the civil war so I had no reason to believe that they would carry through. Truth is even the police didn't believe it which is why they were unprepared without any intervention from Trump. So you need hard evidence, Trump doesn't leave any hard evidence, he knows how to talk like a mob boss, in other words " take care of" could mean "kill" etc etc. Use common language and you can never be convicted.

Maybe the US needs to hit rock bottom and after that there's reform of the political system which appoints a limited term king at the moment and some adjustments to the constitution they consider a religious text. Not many political systems in the world have the entire executive government unelected and chosen by one person , the elected chief executive AKA president.
