@benwolf2356 As long as it didn't meet its mom and try to get "close" to her, I'm sure it would be fine...

I'll add my vote for a long episode on the "Revolt of the Admirals" and the rational behind Sec Johnson's diminution of the Navy's (and Marines') importance.
2
@vespelian I burst out laughing at the last half of the final sentence. It describes so much of Russia that it should be the country's motto.
2
"Yes, please!" on more discussion of the metallurgy and manufacturing of naval weapons. Even being modestly knowledgeable on the subject due to my decades as a mechanical designer, it's always interesting to hear experts viewpoints.
2
With many naval ships I feel a twinge of regret when the phrase "sent to the breakers" is stated. Not so much with Red Bear ships these days...

She sloops to conquer...

@Genessyss Congratulations, you're the first person I've ever reported to YouTube for harassment.

Hi, Doctor Nick!
1
A 16" shell filled with ice cream would cause any enemy to surrender. Unless it was pistachio ice cream, which would be considered a war crime under the various Hague conventions.

@danweyant4909 WKRP? I hated that station! They never played enough Disco, how was I supposed to get my Donna Summers cravings filled?
1
@shinji20120101 The Crash of 397 was either an early steam train run out of the Stockton and Darlington Railway, which caught fire and burned all of GPn's cash (which he was carrying in a paper bag to make it look less attractive to pick-pockets), or a financial depression that occurred in A.D. 397 in Scotland, ancestral home of the early Drachs. Which I can't say, as I was never good at history...
1
Sigh. Four bots reported, not that it does a lick of good.
1
@Szopen715 😁
1
A handsome ship, curious what you'll have to say about their successors (presuming that video's not already been posted).
1
@tulliusexmisc2191 Well, we used to be considered as the leader of the free world. We seem to have switched teams...
1
@ Sorry, but I'm going to let Drach decide. Not you.
1
I love a ship that make the scrappers pay...
1
@HighlanderNorth1 Sorry, Comrade - it's your hero, Vladdy the Baddy, who's going around starting wars. As for "Old" Joe - Vlad's puppet is just a couple years younger, and shows many signs of mental impairment. The moral impairment was obvious six decades ago...
1
@benwolf2356 The world will never know... (if it knows what's good for it).
1
@HighlanderNorth1 I take it you're a fan of the prez who has turned toward Red Bear country for his alliances? You seem the type...
1
@HighlanderNorth1 You do realize that you're writing nonsense, right? Only one of those is a dictator, President Zelenskyy is not. You have zero credibility with your statement.
1
@HighlanderNorth1 Since yt graciously removed my comment, I'll just say no, p is what you describe, President Z is a hero, a MAN, and an inspiration.
1
I do, but it's a bit of a futile game. A refresh brings them right back.
1
I love stories like this, except for the (almost) inevitable end - scrapped or sunk.
1
@JuffoWup78 Yes, I know. An attempt at a joke...
1
@francisbusa1074 Funny you should mention "treason", as that seems to be your side's specialty. Your guy admires the Austrian painter and authoritarianism. Not sure how you square that, but it seems you guys are rather flexible with fact and reason, so I guess you'll find a way...
1
Thanks for the logistics video! More are welcome (and I know you've done others), including relative status of industrial bases pre-war.
1
I thought the point of this video was to specifically show that's not correct - properly arranged armor can offer at least some level of protection when hit again.
1
I'm so early that there's still spambots to be squashed.
1
You are a bold one...
1
Thanks, Drach! I have a request - a deep dive into welding of naval ships, especially how stress from heat buildup and warping prevention was dealt with would be of interest to me and I suspect others. It was a significant improvement over riveted ships, but I'm sure there were tricky aspects, especially with welding armor plates. Any thoughts from other commenters?

@ I tried reading tea leaves once, all it got me was getting tossed into Boston Harbor. But at least I got a close look at the USS Constitution!
1
Thanks, Drach! Tidy ship, if I ever get to the area I'd want to tour it.
