You have to wonder if she was fired because of the colour of her skin.

@matso3856 Canada pioneered all these thing when our bigger neighbour was an unarmed, uncommitted neutral. A lot of that military knowledge flowed in the other direction in the 20th century Canada spent 10-1/3 years of the 20th century at war with Germany and the Americans spent 5-1/2 years at it. Military knowledge and experience often travelled from North to South.

@jptrainor I can't easily listen to RTs analysis because they've been driven out of town so I suppose random Russian Internet trolls will have to substitute instead.
7
This is one of the ways in which the new version of the War Measures Act differs from the old one. Debate is required now but the old law could be enacted by Order in Council, period.
6
The USA can then join that list of rogue nations. If you can't get along with Canada, you can't get along with anybody.
6
What 8 year UA war are you referring to? Is that the one where the Ukraine fought to contain a foreign invasion in Donetsk, Ivan? You mean the one during which the Canadian Army trained up 33,000 Ukrainian troops to modern Western tactics and weaponry?
6
@mdf3006 I was in the Navy and the Canadian Navy came up with some inventions that have changed Naval warfare. A major one is that we essentially invented flying large, powerful helicopters off of small ships. The aft parts of just about every ship larger than a patrol boat in the World now has a flight deck and hanger. The RCN invented that whole thing back in the 1950s and it is everywhere, today. How about the "Trackball"? The RCN held the original patent for it and decades later it morphed into the ball computer mouse.
6
I wonder if they got mixed up with the "Crypto" nonsense?
6
Right. Alberta doesn't have a Pacific coastline. Why should we care about Pacific security?
6
I read it to my kids. Is it going to give them views that are not approved by the school board?
6
@appletree6741 Russia is having a childish tantrum believing that we'll all surrender to their might and glory.
6
Ouchwitz Summer Camp LLC This war will last until Putin is swinging from a lamp post.
6
Four of the 5 Eyes countries are removing their diplomatic staff ... UK, US, Canada and Australia. I wonder what else they know?
6
We should have biought their Gripen and not the expensive so-so aircraft that is designed for "shock and awe" attacks but not for defending Canadian air space.
6
The extreme right keeps the Conservatives out of power. The Canadian people are in the middle and if you can't move to where the people are, you can't represent the country and have no business forming a government. The Conservatives are doomed to being a regional rump like the Bloc. (p.s. I'm not a Liberal, just frustrated at how Reform hijacked and poisoned the P. Conservative Party.)
5
The Liberals hate their own military and they probably hoped that all this would go away a few weeks ago leaving "sunny ways" as far as the eye can see. Why listen to Veterans? Cher Papa was not one of those.
5
Canada was armed defensive with nuclear weapons for three decades. We're one of the very few countries on Earth to get rid of them (Ukraine being another) .
5
The NATO countries are kind of strapped when it comes to defending the airspace over Kviv. Who else is in the region that are not in NATO? Sweden? Finland? That would be a giant step for them.
5
The Russian aggressors are not learning from their own history.
5
Uh oh! "Partial Mobilization" coming? I'm a 66 year old veteran. Should I be worried that they're going to give me a rusty chain saw, no food and send me somewhere after a day's training? Maybe, I'd better board the next plane for Moscow (.. easy to get tickets! hard to get landing permission!)
5
@cudlefish9990 We are. There is a new class of naval vessels for the Northwest Passage being built in Halifax right now. Three are in the water, five more to come.Anyway, when Trump gets back in NORAD is gone. Then you'll only have to worry about American airspace and you can be biglier than ever.
5
dr.fillgut7373 They tried to capture Odessa at the beginning and failed. Russia's capacity to do things like that has come and gone.
5
Hey, Alberta. There are fewer entities in Canada more starved of resources than the Canadian Navy. They can hardly put anything to sea at all and that has been the situation for decades/generations. If there is a military emergency (like we've had in the past), the tight sphinctered Canadian taxpayers that have let them down so will be whining that we don't have enough Navy (like you have in the past).
5
@Nubbe999 The answer is that we fulfilled a NATO treaty obligation as did other member nations. This stuff appears to be over your heads. You must be young.
5
@mdf3006 We've spend that last six decades making bricks without straw. Canadian service personnel are exceptionally resourceful.
5
@juliohernandez612 It's gone beyond "protest" and your right to protest in Canada is limited as is your right to free speech. Blocking critical infrastructure is not a right. They could have been arrested on day two but Canada is just about the most peaceful, tolerant place on Earth and you were all given lots of extra scope to have your say. Time for you to be arrested and for the Army to pick up your trucks and put them in a secure field, somewhere . (How about CFB Suffield?)
5
" you support our tax dollars going to Ukraine instead of on Canadians!" You looking for a handout, Ivan?
5
Try to resist the temptation to "liberate" the beluga caviar in the larder.
5
We call those things "alliances" and alliances provide protection for all of us in Canada as we spend practically nothing on our ally's defenses. We are freeloaders.
5
Some of them are too crazy to seek the help that is available to them. It started back when we closed all of the mental hospitals in Canada for "humanitarian" reasons.
4
Why?
4
Told the truth about what? We've never been here before. Everyone is learning as they go. Did you know how tho handle a natural disaster like a global pandemic before it happened? No, you didn't nor did anyone else. It's always some mysterious "them" that's to blame.
4
@winstonsmith642 Proof, please. You're just a random internet blah-blah-blaher
4
"Great work Canadians, you threw your country to the wolves and now you get to live with the consequences." "We"? Who are you?
4
Rwanda ... not Uganda ... but thanks for playing!
4
... another pathetic Russian troll spouting gibberish ...
4
He is now to be called "The Windsor Formerly Known as Prince"
4
Perhaps, we need better journalists asking the questions.
4
@jptrainor "Civil War" ... I like that Internet trolls can turn an invasion into a "civil war". All it takes sis for the invader to establish a colony there. It's magic!
4
@jordanturner5278 I guess that you would excuse anything.
4
@DevinSheaProductions Sunny ways.
4
@crushnevnikita8575 No, some drunken bums from Kamchatka.
4
I wonder who will help them? The Germans? ... the Americans? ... the British? ... the Dutch? ... the Swiss? ... the Norwegians? ... Trudeau said that there is a C-17 over there somewhere-or-other with a laugh.
4
Boooo! Maybe, she'll slip away to some safe haven "Militia" base in Wyoming and get gunned up and ready for the next insurrection attempt.
3
It's not? Says who? You? Who are you?
3
@P.u.p.p.e.t.M.a.s.t.e.r So, tell us the answers, then. You are repeating yourselves. It's the middle of the afternoon in Moscow, right now. Have you ever noticed that the Russian bloggers magically disappear about four or five hours later every day? You Russians are so lazy and incompetent that you can't even maintain a 24 hour troll farm.
3
@canadiansociologist5929 If/when we abolish the monarchy, we will end up supporting and protecting a Head of State anyway. Look at the Republic to the south of us. They have a head of state that has the power of an 18th century European monarch and it costs them vast amounts of money. We're getting a bargain, right now ... all the pomp, etc. for relatively little outlay. p.s. If Canada wants to abolish the Monarchy, constitutionally it will take the approval of all ten Provinces and that pig will never fly.

... third largest navy ...
3
Karma. Wait 'til they really get sick. I'm expecting that the Ottawa Emerg departments are going to be swamped with viral pneumonia cases before it's all over.
3
Says you? You're not an authority on anything. ... a parrot, more like.
