the only thing about this being a value is that its going to be the only 5000- series chip you can actually find on the shelves
2
right now they're nearly the only option. they're back in stock now but for the last 6 months the team red side of any store has been cleaned out.
1
you almost want to buy this just because of how ridiculously obtuse that instillation method is
1
can confirm, microcenter is the only place where you can see the amazing sight of someone walking around with thousands of dollars of parts in their cart. seems like at least one person per hour (or a dozen on opening) is building an entire system
1
really need 100/100 symmetrical internet. also its weird your office price is so bad, my local spectrum office sends me insultingly low price offers compared to their residential prices. oh and they shut my internet off randomly, and now spam me with 5 calls a day to go back to them, which should meet the FCC's definition of a spam caller btw
1
it still astonishes me how good a few great fans are, and also how expensive they are.
1
wait, wouldn't that picture be upside down with the card inserted into a motherboard?
1
that non-removable g5 cover pisses me off to no end. its designed to be removable but someone decided to stick a non-removable plastic pin through it and prevents you from getting to the cpu cooler without breaking something and then apple had absolutely shit water coolers so some people had to open that up to save their machine when (not if) it failed but void their warranty in the process the later mac pros weren't so boneheaded, though they still mounted all their fans on rubber screws that all tended to dryrot in the heat
1
the sad part is a 1660 super is actually a pretty solid card if you can keep it cool
1
kind of shows trump and his admin didn't care what deal was made just so he could toss it to his base as yet another 'promise' kept, and yet another ridiculously optimistic job number tossed around. There's no way 25k jobs are made from this
1
modern consumerism: "You can't even buy it if you could afford it!"
1
there's very few industries that have a 98% profit margin and complain about being forced to under invest due to regulations
1
I was gonna say are those even gold plating since anodized aluminum can be made gold without using gold, even then the plating is probably only as thick as what you find on a pcb which is super thin
1
I wanna see that intel gpu delidded just to get a beautiful picture of that die
1
I'm sure Nvidia was absolutely thrilled by Broadcom's support with their anti trust issues
1
@richto1000 at that point though there's even less reason to say intel is better than amd, especially when the margin of difference was already barely noticable on zen 2
1
literally only ever seen 1 6800xt in person since it launched
1
the mask pictures are too funny in this dark time
1
just my anecdote, back to school shopping has massively increased the amount of kids (and parents) with DIY build PCs. My brother is working on a project right now so we've been to microcenter a few times this month and between last week and this week when a lot of local schools finally pushed out their back to school plans, the place turned into black friday in August with all their low end processors gone, PSUs, GPUs, monitors and Motherboards restricted to one per customer, and webcams being once again unavailable I did clear out the keyboard isle by mentioning they have a large stockpile of keyboard inventory elsewhere in the store There's a lot of parents going out and building a computer who don't really know what they're building and are shelling out some large amounts of cash for maybe a bit of an overkill build
1
this does beg the question why nobody has made a beer keg shaped case by now...
1
you guys look like you had some fun with this one
1
its funny that you're probably better off buying a dell and dealing with their shtick than this
1
cyberpower tries to cheapen everything cyberpower also pays for fan headers and doesn't use it
1
its like if intel decided to build a game console, they just have to get their own dgpu then they'd really start rocking
1
what is the world coming to when Nvidia has the most straight forward naming convention
1
100$ for a passive cooler? that price seems rather low for what it is
1
480$ or 900$ actual
1
really find it hard to believe that such a highly automated process like chip fabbing actually has any issue with local labor costs considering the workfoces are all highly skilled labor in general. the environmental issues with chip fabbing need addresses but this seems like panhandling really, especially when TSMC doesn't have issues with building fabs outside of asia, and there are plenty of fabs outside the region on older nodes, its just once again businesses being addicted to south east asia as the apparent only choice for where to build anything
1
5G pcs Lol, putting 5g modems in laptops does not make it inherently better since wifi is still MUCH better than cellular
1
is this possibly an attempt to get ahead of the narrative because while we know the market right now, only Intel is going to know what its market looks like 6-10 months from now when new laptops get announced. I wonder if they lost that much future business that they're trying to convince people amds are trash before they even see the products
1
wouldn't it be funny if the only gpu you can even buy this year becomes an intel gpu
1
that case looks like a retooled thermaltake case from years ago
1
*cat for scale
1
Steve, are you ever gonna test the important issues, like the thermal performance of the CyberNUC case that looks like a cybertruck?
1
is this gonna keep my ryzen 3 3400 cool though?
1
you wonder if they could have made it cheaper by just making it a box with no discerning features whatsoever. I can't imagine there isn't tooling out there for some mid 00's DellHPGatewaybox that could better be adapted cheaply on side fans, my brother has some weird case from the early 2010s with a whopping 200mm fan on the side
1
don't forget Dunecase Pro, its gonna ship aaaaannnny daaaayyyy nooooowwww
1
darn human malware and its unpatchable exploits!
1
apple should include Apple Rage or iRage Mode
1
you're just a few pieces of hardware away from the most animu kawai computer build ever
1
the 5600x OCs so well though
1
I know its asia and I'm an armchair commentor but as someone who works with acid, its painful looking at them lifting those racks without any arm and hand protection
1
buys 900$ graphics card *puts 100$ cpu in"
1
sry to bother but dry ice is in short supply too, apparently human malware spreads bigly at dry ice plants
1
who the heck is SLI'ing two 3090s together, who has 2 PCIE4 slots 6 slots wide to fit these monsters?
1
yey another gpu they can't make
1
and its sold out (the 6600 xt)
1
oh no, what will old people do to browse the interwebs when they kill off IE11? its not like they can use other browsers, especially since Windows SOMEHOW sets IE11 as default STILL
1
It looks like the smallest of the 30 series cards, so if you're chasing small form factor, that seems to be the card for it, though its going to be unavailable out of spite
1
500$ consoles really make you wonder what you're paying for if you can build a ryzen 5 3600 system for around that price
