musta been great, getting paid to just shoot guns, talk to arms manufacturers, and presumably dictate reports to a secretary to send back to your command
4
that first one looks so good from a distance and so crusty up close
4
iterative design, they went from pouches and paper cartridges to cardboard tubes to brass/plastic
4
I suspect the problem would be getting reliable belts considering how the originals weren't all that consistent
4
got to have been in a movie or tv show before that as an armorer's piece
4
this thing seems a little too eager to dump its guts out the back. you rotated 1 pin and loosened 1 cap and the guts just shot right out
4
seems like the only sane thing to do with a gun that dangerous
3
TheGoldenCaulk it doesn't sound like its a pretty rare gun like some of his finds, just a dumb gun
3
"They bought a bunch of submarines that also came with lugers." thats some black humot about handguns being standard equipment on early submarines
3
@wolschou not that silly but customizable light combos would be very easy
3
seems like .30 carbine was a good bullet for an interum assault rifle before you work out something like 5.56
3
for the fins to scrap a gun it must have been absolutely destroyed
3
this thing almost looks like you could shoulder it, if you were arnold shwartzenegger I suppose
3
that's loosely a theme of this channel I suppose. Forgotten quite often means terrible, (but not always)
3
hey now, I hear their minister managed to 'procure' several dozen K-class blimps from the US for their airforce
3
the 1994 awb was a dumb definition, but people shouting there's no such thing as assault rifles have been equally as dumb
3
the marines breaking the army's stuff is too funny
3
they use lasers to burn channels in, I've handled enough of them at a job recycling aircraft scrap. pure cobalt parts are insane, they're like as tough as titanium and lighter than aluminum
3
I can't imagine being given a black powder rifle when your enemies have sub machineguns and flamethrowers coming at you
3
in the late 1800s it was function over form, get the autoloading bit right, then worry about simplification. Problem was that when someone did simplify something everybody tended to adopt that and dump the big clunky stuff
3
probably one of the most complete and thorough conversions ian has ever covered
3
been a while since Ian sent parts flying on camera
3
Luxembourg, otherwise known as that speedbump between france and germany
3
but think of all the ammunition they'd waste if they can fire so fast
3
series
3
idk, if anything was gonna do it, it would have been lever guns and nobody ever made a top feed lever gun
3
one would wonder why it took several more decades or development for them to just issue troops with small shovels instead.
3
"what does this gun do that is better?" it is the most precisely machined handgun in the world
3
NateLB that's only because every hollywood movie ever misuses the spas-12 (possibly intentionally though) because I've never seen a movie where its used semiauto or where the stock has been deployed, and this carries over into videogames
3
Jagdwurst 88 no wonder they lost the war, too much wasted paint on lettering and took too long on their paperwork
3
it doesn't look all that fun to shoot though
3
Lassi Kinnunen from video yesterday the bolt looked compression or transfer molded as it had some sort of random fill in it.
3
For some reason they lost a large chunk of Lee's at the beginning of ww2, so they were fortunate to have the opportunity to rearm with a modern lee enfield for a modern war
3
@iwanttocry3212 no because the british probably knew it was all happening
3
bolt action conversions like revolving rifles, seem to on paper be an obvious relatively easy thing to do, but turn out to be completely unworkable
3
time period is going to be a hard one to pin down, its gonna be any one of several years during ww1 when the officer programs were flooded with recruits anyways so records are gonna be fuzzy. really this is like antique furniture, unless you can absolutely prove with paperwork its always going to be up to the veracity of the experts to claim authenticity
3
the sks being a scaled down version of an antimaterial rifle is funny, usually its the opposite
3
@brokenspine66 um no the USSR had plans, just like the US has plans to invade and annex canada, the point was we needed to make it not beneficial for them to carry out those plans
3
the magazine thing probably makes sense since its 1903 and everybody has clips with internal magazines, which was what he probably though since you're translating german to dutch with a technical term that's relatively new
3
"Is that a live round? "another, that can't be good." clearly that is an early method for preventing soldiers from wasting ammunition by dumping some perfectly good ammunition out of the magazine so they have a few rounds left over yes that is the case, not that its a poorly designed italian firearm
3
water, carbon, pretty similar.
3
How neutral do you have to be to buy 50,000 guns from germany in 1941
3
what a lovely fluted barrel it has
3
I swear the allies missed destroying the german tool stamp factories, they couldn't possibly produce anything without having a serial number on nearly every part
3
given the curve you're probably not going to use this for anything other than shot
3
idk I thought Colt was rather infamous for doing drugs
3
ironically what you described with showrooming is exactly what the computer stores like microcenter deals with, If I take up a guy's time for 25 minutes I try to at least buy something to help him get a commission even if he's talked me out of the thing I came for
3
its funny, this is basically a smartphone crammed around a gun
3
its a very important and interesting turn of events that gunpowder seemed to just spring into the historical record in europe without any sort of origin other than the chinese story
3
shocking the lindsey musket is untouched when it had that tendency to blow up easily...
