To your point, the pricing on this makes it ultra competitive and a great option
9
Great review. It blows my mind that such a large company like Toyota have the most dated and unusable tech. The Lexus is over priced now considering its had the basic same drivetrains since inception. The competition has really surpassed this. Even the less luxury options like the MDX for less money
8
Doesn't really compete on anyfront with the new Accord or Camry. Those are the best sellers. This will sell sparsely. Very boring
8
That interior is embarrassing. Malibu has less shiney black plastics. Eww. Not for 40k. So happy Chris touched on this and didn't give it a pass and told the truth. Cost cutting is all over. I mean no ventilated front seats?
8
Very well done review. Really enjoyed watching this
8
So yeah, nearly $29k just to get a manual transmission kills this for me. At $29k I can get a Golf GTI with IRS, standard LSD, 228hp, and in my opinion as nice of an interior. I think Mazda might have over shot its market in this and is charging too much. I guess sales numbers will tell but I'm now shopping for a used 2018 Mazda 3 instead of the new one due to its ridiculous pricing. Maybe I'm the only one that's poor
8
Gorgeous inside and out. Great tech and a lovely NA V6. I kind of want this haha
8
Would not touch a car with this Jatco CVT garbage. So many class action lawsuits. Avoid. It's a shame as the upgrade are nice here beside the powertrain. Sad they killed off the fun 1.6L Turbo engine
8
The answer is simple, $45k for the Kia Telluride. All Toyota does is the bare minimum.
8
Way too much tech, way too much to not work. Would not touch this.
8
Forte has a pos CVT, you couldn't be more wrong
8
I personally appreciated your style of likes and dislikes for a review. Either way is fine i just appreciated your take in that layout.
7
on the spec sheet posted in the videos you have the wrong engine listed for the turbo. You list 2.0 instead of 1.6T
7
Wow did they make this ugly. Typical BMW styling
7
He starts by saying it's the Lexus equivalent and ends with him not even willing to put his kids in it because it's such a death machine. Which is dude? This was so hard to listen to you unclear points
7
Gerald Thompson just like ever Mercedes. Whats your point?
7
Love the size of this car so much. Happy they offer IRS on all trims. If the Rspec had a LSD, I would buy it. Same as the now uglified Elantra Sport. I don't want to spend $30k ish for the N when all I want is a LSD with the 1.6L turbo. Honda understood this. Wish Hyundai would as well.
7
If only it could come with a manual transmission option, I'd take it over a Kia Stinger. As it, it's built by FCA. I'll take the Stinger
7
Excellent job as always Clifford. I do wish it was a car review but I know SUVs are whats in fashion. But not this one. Really wish this less utility "SUV" trend stops. Just looks like a donk more than a "coupe".
7
I love that Hyundai finally gave a mainstream competitor cuv a powerful engine choice. RIP Juke
7
I'm sorry for your choice. Congratulations on your new Chevy
7
So the price isn't ridiculous because the same company charges more for the luxury version of it? What?
7
I can't believe that Toyota made the 2020 Hybrid version uglier and slower. This is truly a car for those that are dead inside and never want to smile
7
Would take the competition over this buzzy, under powered raised car. Then there is the horrid body cladding. It a already out of date. Then there is that crazy high price. Yikes
7
That 4 cylinder is way overworked and sounds every bit of it. Fwd based takes away from any remaining idea that this is a luxury vehicle. The Hyundai Palisade feels, look, and sounds like a much better luxury vehicle than these 4 poppers that will go boom. That said. If you want the safest SUV, but a Model X, but for the safest petrol suv, Volvo is it. Cliff I think your review was dead on. Very honest and take which is greatly appreciated.
7
Too bad about the oil mixing with the gas. Also the rev hang on this is unbearable along with an engine that always sounds like a vaccum. Then there is its anime styling and faux vents everywhere including the rear bumper. Other than that, it's a great car....
7
Chris love ypu honest take here. Greatly apprecited. Way too much money, way too many hard plastic. This interior straight out of a $26k Camaro. No substance with this vehucle
7
$70k is crazy. I'll go Genesis G70 3.3L TT and save $20k while getting Android Auto, ventilated seats, better looking design, and not all the useless gimmicky tech of the 3 series
7
Honestly just get an Avalon which has better tech and interior for less money if you have to have this lifeless Toyota product. Not a luxury product in my opinion. So many better options out there
7
I love that you bought a F Type. Easily one of the most gorgeous cars ever made. So much better than the refresh version as well. Great taste. The Supercharged V6 with the manual is on my bucket list of cars. So happy a journalist supported the manual. Also like your hair like this much more
7
For $19,550 im getting a Honda Civic or Kia Rio. It's good for a versa but that's about it
7
Such a weak engine paired with a horrid CVT. I love that Subaru buyers think there AWD cars with all season tires are off road warriors. They aren't. The face camera, that you know Subaru is selling the information gathered to your insurance company, is just creepy and horribly invasive. This is definelty a car for the old and confused
7
My Dad and I talk cars, and one day when I was over there he brings up how cool the new Avalon looks and loves the grill. There's its demographic hahaha
7
$40k (for the comparable manual) for an uglier Civic SI is a joke. Funny enough the RSX Type S from 2002 had the same amount of horsepower. In 20 years, Acura hasn't progressed the powertrain yet have added significant weight. I have no idea what this reviewer is talking about the Integra not having rev hang. I was amazed at how horrible the rev hang was on it. Not to mention you can't fully defeat stability control. No fun.
7
Actually a really well done review. Hate the sunglasses but honestly great job.
6
Damn this guy does fantastic reviews! Great job!
6
Great review. Cant believe the 5 seriesnis now bigger than the old 7 series. Never understood who would buy the current computer controlled BMWs that come standard with halogen headlamps. To each there own though
6
Norm T motor trends biggest advertiser is GM.
6
Such an average car for a way above average price. People who bought a Sport version of the prior year really made out. Cheaper than the ST and a smoother transmission. That Sony craptastic plastic dash looks horrific.
6
I don't think BMW could build a good looking car if they tried. I really dont get the appeal with modern BMWs. This thing is huge and frumpy. Then there is the price...yikes
6
If this car got a decent engine I would be interested. As is, you can't get a manual 9n the top trims and the engine is dangerously under powered. Merging is a nerve wrecking experience
6
Was extremely curious how you fit in this. This is one of the only current BMWs I find attractive. Really did the design and that blue color
6
Should of bad a manual and a Toyota engine. BMW builds cars for there lease period. This car is going to be so unreliable. I don't care what Tada says, this will be the least reliable "Toyota" badged product.
6
Great review Cliff. Surprised you wouod go BMW X3 over Alfa Stelvio for a drivers SUV. Nothing wrong with the GLC other than being a bit boring. I find the upcoming Genesis GV70 much more exciting than this. At this point I'm just happy this doesn't borrow the EQS design language.
6
I really appreciated this review and reviewer for not being afraid to call out the holy Toyota for putting out an inferior product. It is appreciated that you share your opinion and not a press release statement like so many clone reviewers. This was refreshing
6
Nissan is killing the Versa hatch for a reason, it's more roomy, faster, and more fuel efficient than the kicks. They don't want to lose more profitable Kicks sales to the Versa. Love that for a 2019 vehicle, the kicks has drum brakes in the rear. 2019 and it is drum brakes.
6
Oooor you can just look where you are driving? Like the good old days when people were responsible for there actions
6
Yay another boring SUV review. Let's talk cup holders and how many liters it can hold. Ugh
6
The perfect truck to lift and then park at the mall. Bless America and there small brains
6
@MikeRepluk going on three years and 90k mikes strong. Good luck on your incredibly boring like and Avalon. Congratulations on hitting the big 80 years as well. My grandpa just hit it himself and swears by his Avalon
