  1. Totally agree, Mr Ranganathan. I won't contest the fact that I may be often ' tentative and defensive', as you point out. Having been a newspaper reporter for over two decades, this think-before-you-speak (write) mantra is difficult to get rid of. I can't have the extravagance of a TV reporter. I sincerely urge you to judge me by my contents. I promise to.bring you the facts and then leave it to you to judge them, regardless of how I present them.

  3. Agree, absolutely.. I am never comfortable in front of the camera. Worked with newspapers for 22 years before I decided to become a digital journalist. This transition hasn't really been smooth but can't stop trying now that I am here.

  9. I beg to differ, Sankalp. There are issues where we would want our Prime Minister to look beyond political interests. Look at what's happening in Belagavi! Should we just take it as another evidence of the BJP's or our PM's smart politics? I am afraid I don't agree.

  11. Hi Abhi, yes, I do end up criticising the opposition more often than not. I do my best to be objective.but I can't close my eyes. The opposition's strategy is Parliament is something I haven't been able to figure out. Yes, you may not agree but please let me know where I am wrong factually.

It makes me feel like a newsreader and not someone who is having a dialogue with an enlightened group of people. I am conscious of the fact that I need to structure my presentation. Work in progress.

We end up.making intelligence guesses. It's unfair- and deceitful in a way-- to pass it on to our readers and viewers who trust us.

We were told Hindus constitute about 55 per cent but, of course, it was based on their estimates. You seem to be well-informed. Thanks again for your feedback.

  25. No, Sir. I didn't ignore them. These issues are a part of my overall argument: That the states, given their constraints-political.or otherwise- can't solve these inter-state issues and therefore, the Centre needs to hand-hold and be more pro-active.

  30. I wasn't confused until I saw your comment. I again went back to legal experts, including our legal editor, Bhadra Sinha, to check what the SC meant. Our understanding is when the court spoke of prosecution success rate, it boiled down to conviction rate. We may be wrong in our interpretation but, frankly, I'd like to hear from the SC on this. Any way, thank you so much for alerting me. I don't mind being judged wrongly at times- as long as someone is there to point it out and correct it. I must therefore, thank you for drawing my attention to something that I didn't think about earlier.

  33. Thanks, Soham. Frankly, I don't know yet. It's true Vikramaditya hasn't come of age and the Congress must depend on his mother, if at all. But Jairam Thakur hasn't really emerged as a pan-state leader either. Anurag is in high command's good book but let's see. I am not really sure about how things will unfold in the coming months.

As a citizen, I would have loved to hear Rahul on the IIM bill, forest conservation amendment bill, jan suraaj bill, etc. He apparently doesn't have time to discuss anything beyond love&hate binary. Yes, he is right about this binary but Indians gave other problems, too.
