The Internet Archive has banned and censored websites like K Farms. They're not as pro free speech as they claim to be.

You don't need a distro. Just use arch and move on.

This is factually untrue. The only way this is true is if you discard and redefine the definition of gender which is a concept that has been tied to biological sex for as long as language has existed. Gender and pronouns are a tool of society to describe the practical differences between the sexes in language. The campaign to make gender an abstract term with no concrete objective meaning only goes to harm actual women. For example, ever wonder why we have gendered bathrooms? It's not to protect men. Gendered bathrooms exist because society recognizes the biological differences between men and women that make women more vulnerable to physical force due to them being generally weaker than men. Because of these practical differences society logically concluded that women need a safe space to conduct their business that is separate from men where otherwise they'd be put in a potentially compromising situation. When you refuse to recognize the real differences between the sexes for the sake of calling someone who is confused about their identity by their preferred pronouns and go to treat them like actual women will inevitably harm and take away opportunities from actual women.

@Jan-gl7mn my replies keep disappearing. I can't say his specific name but a very famous person released many government documents that exposed the government. The details of the systems and techniques are in the documents. I don't know how else to say it without YouTube censoring me. Snowden.

I tried to mention intelligence quotient but it got deleted.

Anything more complicated than tty is too much.

The specific legislation is flawed. They shouldn't be required or allowed to store your ID specifically but should be required to check ID and store some sort of marker that shows that validation has been done. Porn is one of the most destructive "drugs" available because of its availability and societies willingness to generally ignore the damage it does to young boys, women, couples, etc.

@rh906 immune from the rules not from the criticism.
2
@bullpup1337 I've read his stance. It was all about deconstructing social norms which is very communist.

@unbekannter_Nutzer I do not agree with the "standards apply to both sides or not at all." Not indiscriminately targeting civilians is what is supposed to make one side superior to the other. Plus, Israel likely violated international human rights law by targeting a large group of people without guarantees that noncombatants would not be unintentionally harmed.

The fact Titus thinks you're significantly far right shows that he is not center at all. He's left and doesn't acknowledge it. You're only far right if every person right of center is "far right." It's easy for people on the left to measure relatively like Titus is doing and assume they are the "middle" point meaning anyone right of them is right and anyone actually right of center is "far right." Not saying he's a bad dude but he lacks an awareness of the political spectrum.

@_PatrickO if I create a bulletin board in a town square and someone pins a piece of paper with something reprehensible, am I liable? No. Does that make the content legal? No. Should the person who posted it be arrested? Yes. Should the bulletin board owner be arrested? No. Creating a messaging platform does not automatically mandate that they moderate the content. Make liable the people who created the speech not those who created the platform. Should we arrest phone manufactures for allowing people to upload the photos and not implementing some moderation strategy? No? Then we shouldn't mandate it for other platforms. As long as the illegal content isn't solicited by the platform then they shouldn't be held liable for speech (or otherwise) others make.

@chaos.corner nice lmao

DeVault has such a holier than thou attitude towards everyone outside of his in group. He thinks everyone needs to embody corporate professionalism and advocated for banning the lead developer of hyprland for off platform behavior. Dudes a massive tool. I wrote this message before Brian mentioned it. DeVault is a leftist communist who's entire goal is to purge the undesirables.

The actual maintainers are pretty okay on Nixos. Usually not too political outside of a few bad apples. The Nixos moderation and governance teams on the other hand are out right leftists who slap their friends on the wrist when they break the rules and outright ban conservatives for simply having conversations that other people get upset about.

@davidpaulos2943 my point is you don't need a specialized distro that comes with a bunch of pre packaged software. Just use the arch installer and it'll get you on your desktop of choice without any bloat.

@nickoh-bv7dx you can Google it yourself. Look up "leaking data via ram wirelessly" and you'll find plenty of information. Also recommend referring to the Snowden leaks which are all publicly available on Wikipedia.

@nickoh-bv7dx I've done my best bro. Google is your only option.

Politicization is a means of control. It allows political zealots to take positions of power and subvert the project's with their politics. It's a very popular tactic on the left. Unfortunately the right doesn't understand politics and power the way the left does.

@sansinutube maybe it's the imported part of the "mixed" team that is the most problematic. Ever consider that?

@user-eg6nq7qt8c there are groups of people who are very wealthy that have VC and hedge funds that are explicitly politically motivated. ESG was invented by Black Rock as a way to leverage their investment portfolios to enact their neo-marxist agenda. This was fine for them when the economy was booming and companies were making bank but it gained them stake in companies that were primarily focusing on politics over their core competencies. Once the economy started to slow those companies were bloated with non-value producing employees and were hemorrhaging cash. This affected their bottom line significantly and now you see companies like Microsoft moving away from DEI in general because in their words "is no longer business critical." Companies like Meta, Zoom, Google followed suit downsizing their DEI departments significantly and others like Tractor Supply Co eliminating their DEI department all together. ESG and DEI are definitely unpopular but I don't believe that is the motivating factor behind the change. The change is motivated by a small group of very wealthy politically aligned actors who have an interest in controlling companies as a means to push their political ideology.

@user-eg6nq7qt8c I recommend you look into George Soros and his ideas around the Open Society and the investments he makes.

@barfnelson5967 for a group that pushes equity like it's their religion they sure do struggle to implement it.

@eriness what does that have to do with anything anyone has said in this thread? You're totally off topic. You don't even mention what you're referring to and just mention "this." How is anyone supposed to understand what you're talking about about when you're referring to something someone else has said while also not being clear about the thing they were commenting on? Additionally, the claim that there are communist motivations behind this type of enforcement behavior within the Linux Kernel is not absurd. Linus is openly communist and associates with many others who are also openly communist. The selective enforcement of moralistic policies which in this case is the CoC is a textbook communist tactic. This tactic can be seen in use by Mao during the Cultural Revolution and by Stalin selectively enforced rules against his political enemies. The Linux team has openly stated they intend to purge undesirables from the kernel project and are shameless when they do so. One thing is certain, the Linux Kernel team has an "ends justify the means" attitude towards their enforcement actions and rarely hold themselves accountable to their own policies. When others mouth off it's a permanent ban but when Linus or other high ranking maintainers do it nothing substantive ever happens. In this specific instance we can see two parties violating the CoC one resulting in excommunication and the other resulting in no action taken. It's a total double standard. This is not uncommon in the open source space. Look at the Nixos moderation team and you'll see the same behavior. When this occurs it's always driven by far left ideologies.

@Myname-l3h never once did I say they couldn't I said they SHOULDNT.

24:45 even self hosting isn't an option. Look at what kiwifarms has had to go through all in the name of free speech. They'll write governments across the world to get them to revoke domain names. They'll write co-hosting locations and threaten them and harass them until they kick you out. They are evil and destructive. All they do is destroy.

It's not just activism. They're also selling your data after "anonymizing" it.

@bullpup1337 I'm very aware what is and isn't communism. I don't use the word lightly. Communism is a trans humanist ideology who's entire goal is to strip individuals of their identities as to merge them into a single global collective to achieve utopia. Don't tell me that I think "everything is communism" when you don't even understand the basic history of the ideology. Part of communism is rejecting undesirables or those who do not conform to the "revolution." While they may not say it out loud because they know it is distasteful it is seen universally in leftist groups.

@HickoryDickory86 Edge is just chromium with Microsoft spyware added in. You're better of just using chromium, brave, or zen.

@bobanmilisavljevic420 who cares how a military may or may not have indiscriminately targeted civilians? I feel like it's a lot more people than you want to make it out to be.

@meru_lpz you don't want google to control the web entirely. They are constantly pushing aggressive drm and anti consumer features into browser specs.

@bocimino463 I dont even care if it's woke as long as they're not suppressing others

As soon as we get native gaming on Linux on par to Windows then a significant portion of people will migrate. Of the people who are willing to install an OS different than the one shipped with their computer gaming is in my experience the #1 reason why people aren't willing to switch.

@411DL the contributors you're referring to are constituting to the banning of many other contributors and the silencing of others. It matters little how valuable their contributions are if in the long term they will alienate many other equally valuable contributors.

He 100% thought that if he colluded with the current administration that he would avoid monopoly and data privacy lawsuits from federal agencies and legislation. Now that it looks like the current administration might not be the next administration he's flipping the script.
1
What do you mean by "dangerous?"
1
The "left" has never been about individual rights. They've always been about collective rights. If they believe taking your rights away is in the best interest of the collective or that by doing so aligns or protects the ideals of the collective group then they will do so. I.e. banning someone for not embracing trans ideology being enough wrong think to be depersoned to the extent they can do so.
