  1. This is a sound argument, I have tried lugging my Celestron 8 in a bergen up a hill. it is hit and miss. The stellina gives a higher degree of portability even at 25lb and you can see how on target you are in the middle of nowhere and still bring raw data back for further processing

  14. As a newbie to this I have no baggage but this seems to be about new technology. When I took up playing the guitar the negativity I came across from old school was often melodramatic. I even had a comment that a particular guitar (Gibson J45) could only be a particular colour or it isnt authentic. The Stellina seems to be attracting the same negativity and it seems there will always be people who do not like change. The Stellina seems to be a another version of a GoTo function, just a little more slick. The advatage seems to be you get both worlds: you get immediate photo output as well as raw data that you can take away and still go thorugh the long hand chore of further processing. The main hook from me, and I have ordered one, is it gives me more travel opportunites depsite its weight!! I can go ot the middle of nowhere, take shots, and still bring back data for further processing. I do not see the need for some of the negativity here.

  41.  @christoph4977  Are we comparing like for like here? I dont think so. The Stellina is a different proposition, I do not think it is competing with the traditional set up. Both solutions can use post processing to enhance the shot, no difference. There are a number of us who see nofun in hours of laptop post processing anyway. But the way this rig is set up, used to identify and then track an object seems identical. From a straight observing perspective I think the Stellina wins hands down. For a lot of people this is what they are into astronomy for.

  43. Why? I do not think the Stellina is offering this function only. Are we missing the point here? The impression I have is the Stellina offers a flexible approach hence the costs. Not everybody wants to sit on a laptop for hours post process.

  44.  @Astrobiscuit  look at the trouble you have caused :) Not only have i spent hours on a laptop defending the Stellina, I have probably reduced the number of xmas party invitations post pandemic. Can I suggest you do more to look at the post processing you can do with Stellina? My reason for buying this, thanks to you by the way, is flexibility, accessibility, and portability. Upon reflection I wouldnt see the vid as comparing like for like.
