you can take the raw data and do your own processing, i use affinity.

rubbish, you can still take the raw data and process as norm, i use affinity. what is it people like you who see something diffrent, slag it off, insult those with a different view. Arrogant.

I have a second hand meade 80, goto works fine and I can put it in my bergen and take it anywhere. I am goingf to get the Stellina and use its portability, even at 25lb, to do more remote work. The biscuit munchers kit would be too heavy, too flaky and I wouldnt know what I had captured until I brought it back home.

you really are a princess....you can still take the raw data and process as normal, not all of us see the processing as the fun
1
not everybody is the same, some see the processing as a chore and a barrier, you need to pay attention, you can still, and should, take the raw data for further processing, if you want.........

Even though I would have to feel guilty about feeding my children on beans and/or toast for a year the issue is the utility of the Stellina. I have stuffed my Celestron into my car, and also stuffed in my Bergen to get height, but the problem always is then getting all back home to do the processing, which I am still learning!! But now, I can use this to travel and climb far more easily, get an instant-ish shot and still add further processing later? This also means I could do multi night trips? Just need to plan power supply? So, the same amount a dosh buys a first class astro-photography set up but how portable?
1
@Astrobiscuit How long can teenagers survive on beans on toast? The cost case for travel and portability with minutes of processing in the middle of nowhere is starting to look positive..............what about a vid on post processing the Stellina output?
1
missing the point you can still take the raw data and process as norm, if you think thats fun of course
1
whose purpose? Your view of the world? There are alternatives, this gives accessibility and portability even at 25lb, it was not a like for like comparison.if you want to process raw data the stellina still offers that
1
@backgammonbacon another flat earther then, you can still take the raw data and post process as is the norm..........you also miss the point that it was wrong to compare as they are not like for like. eg accessibility, portability etc Problem with flat earthers is they do not respect other views.

@ronstewtsaw at last, an intelligent view of the world, I find the post processing at times tedious although I have found Affinity to be a tad useful and less stressful processing solution, there are alternatives to Photoshop also, now that really is overpriced :)
1
@spacemanschannel6380 That is the point although I suspect your xmas party invites will go down in number now

you need to pay attention, stop thinking your world is the world

Hi, good discussion and has given me some ideas to further bankruptcy, however, the Celestron travel scope gets a bit of a slagging. I have stuffed that scope in my bergen and yomped up Scafell, it has been strapped to my bike to tour around Dartmoor, it is a travels cope, it doesnt pretend to be anything else and the point is it is a very good budget scope anyway. If you have any ideas about backpacking a scope let us know. I have been looking at carbon fibre to upgrade the quality and keep the wieght down.
1
how about protability ad travel even at 25lb.......pkus not all of us think hours on the laptop processing is cool. If you were paying attention you would have seen that you can still take the raw data and process it for hours on the laptop........
