  1. Those high up outlets could also be used for a wall mounted TV, hides the wires… but you’d probably need an antenna since I didn’t see any cable hookup.

  2.  @eattherich9215  the 2nd avenue subway has changed the value (real or imagined) of the areas around it’s stations… I can only imagine what will change as it’s extended uptown and then all the way downtown to the financial district… not that I see big Wall Street guys buying places like this and taking the subway to work. 😂

  3. This is all being done as a political stunt, and it’s human trafficking. Texas should be sending NYC sacks of full of money on those busses to help defer the costs they are dumping on us. Or the Federal government should step in to stop this.

  4. There was a K-Mart in Brooklyn, but K-Mart is in the graveyard of big stores. (It’s now a Kohls, south end of Bay Parkway.) Edit: that big space behind Industry City is the marine terminal, it’s used by a few things, including the city, and I believe the MTA might get delivery of new subway cars in there (or nearby).

  6. I’d put the 1 bedroom’s bathroom in the 2 bedroom (odd that it has a new kitchen, but an older bathroom), otherwise they are pretty huge apartments for the area.

  8. Kings Highway over there is great for shopping, used to go there with my family when I was a kid, though that was a long time ago, but Fabco Shoes is still there!

  9. Probably not a roof deck, but it’s facing away from the street, so it will be a quiet apartment… unlike mine. (I’m on Queens Blvd, and I’m 6 floors up… but for some reason the street sounds like it’s right next to the windows (our bedroom is in the back, but our daughters room is not, we have to run white noise machines all night so she can sleep without something waking her up (and that doesn’t always work.))

  11. Had a former co-worker who lived on Roosevelt Island, technically it is considered “Manhattan” even though the only bridge to it is in Queens (there used to be an elevator on the 59th Street Bridge that could move people and cars.)

  12. Be great if you acknowledged if the buildings were walk up or have elevators, would help those who are unable to handle stairs, or don’t want to carry their kids stroller up and down more than 1 floor.

  14. 2nd unit is slightly bigger, and updated, no brainer. Our current place they showed us this unit, and one 2 floors down that had an older kitchen and bath, but they wanted the same price for both… which I thought was ridiculous. (Same size as it’s the same unit number (all the floors above the ground floor are the same here.)

  15. My wife used to live up there, Le Mondale is a cool place.. Just avoid weekend brunch, it’s stupid popular and you’ll be waiting for a long time for a table. That extra high bar in the bedroom closet could be used for out of season storage (winter stuff in summer) as long as you have a ladder.

  16. The first Ray’s pizza closed a million years ago, even the copycat second Rays is gone… now it’s just clones galore. Really like how the listing gives the layout for both as is, and if you wanted to put in another bedroom.

  20. Prior to the bridges, the East river had tons of ferries and other boat traffic. When it got cold enough the river froze solid and people walked across.

  26. That $2.3 million place was nice, but yeah, floor to ceiling windows make me feel like I’m on display for the neighbors… definitely be using the shades for privacy.

  27. The issue with AirPods: the battery life isn’t great since the batteries are tiny (they are inside the little stick part that points down), and they are Lithium-Ion, which wears out as you use them and recharge them. Unfortunately they aren’t replaceable either.

  28. I used to pass this area on the D train all the time. That building used to have a hardware store on the ground floor, that’s why it was advertising wallpaper and Dutch Boy paint all the way up to the roof, to attract people riding on the train.

  30. Bad traffic from 3-7? Sounds like New York! (Especially Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills, everyone is heading east to one of the highways (there’s a bunch right when you cross into Kew Gardens and that entire interchange is being rebuilt to be less confusing… but the mess it’s created for the last few years has made things worse.)

  31. That thing next to the park is probably an emergency exit from the subway. Usually it’s just a flat plate in the ground, but I think they couldn’t do that there, so they put in a little hut. You can’t see much because it’s stairs all the way down.

  38. Airports have busy times and lighter times, if you were willing to stay in Miami a few more hours and left around noon that line probably would have been shorter. Yeah, getting out of an airport in New York can be a pain, but that’s really only if you wait for a yellow cab (flew back from Dublin landed at about 3pm and the line for taxis at Terminal 4 was massive. Was almost tempted to use the air train… but it was cold and snowy and we didn’t feel like dragging luggage from the closet stop on the E to our apartment.

  39. I’m sorry, flip the bathrooms, it makes no sense to have the full bath all the way at the far end of the unit, and the half bath right next to the bedrooms, especially if you have kids.

  40. That area is either Kensington (west of of Coney Island Avenue to McDonald Avenue (where you can get the F train) or Flatbush on the East Side, where you can catch the Q train. If you go up a block and cross Beverley Road that is technically Prospect Park South.

  41. Lidl? When we rented an apartment in Sofia, Bulgaria for our adoption trip we shopped at a Lidl… really great selection and decent prices. Guess they followed Aldi. (Totally recommend visiting Bulgaria, it’s a beautiful country, and the food is the best (basically it’s all farm to table.) They haven’t switched to the Euro yet, so it’s still pretty cheap (we stayed in a huge two bed, two bath with a full kitchen and a clothes washer (there was a rack for air drying, which is okay) for two weeks for like $850!))

  43. Jersey should ask why Trenton isn’t funding NJ Transit. NJ Transit will be forced to hike fares and lower service sometime next year because they can’t run the system on ticket fares alone! But no, complain about congestion pricing instead, even though only 5% of NJ commuters actually DRIVE into the city!

  46. New Jersey complains about this, but it’s a FACT that only 5% of New Jersey commuters actually drive into Manhattan! New Jersey Transit doesn’t get funding from Trenton and it’s about to go bankrupt soon (because they don’t make enough money from fares), causing fare hikes and service cuts. Maybe Gov Murphy can work on that instead?
