@h.a.l.3980 That or you'd have to re-enginer a whole new kind of building to make up for the drag since current buildings would probably just start to collapse. Haha
1
@h.a.l.3980 that's what I'm talking about, when renewables reach the point they can be integrated into architecture, in a way that's practical for an urban area. That will be fascinating
1
@h.a.l.3980 and sure, it may not ever release our dependence on oil, I can see that clearer now. But we can slow it down to a trickle in some areas.
1
@h.a.l.3980 I'm sorry for calling you a stooge. I guess not all people from oil companies are bad.
1
@h.a.l.3980 dude, really?
1
@h.a.l.3980 no, I'm only an idiot for wasting this much time talking to you then taking back calling you a stooge.
1
@h.a.l.3980 do you understand what I am saying now or should I get the crayons next?
1
@h.a.l.3980 How trustworthy is the Colorado independent?
1
@h.a.l.3980 how trustworthy is the Denver post or Denver's government website?
1
@h.a.l.3980 have you read what they have to say about xcels 2030 goals?
1
@h.a.l.3980 it looks like, someone is making, sales. :)
1
@h.a.l.3980 Do you not believe that I have taken your poorly presented points into consideration?
1
@h.a.l.3980 what is xcels 2030 goal?
1
@h.a.l.3980 I see, your trying to make the conversation about things I didn't say now. I never brought up morals. Please point to when I brought up morals?
1
@h.a.l.3980 what are xcels 2030 energy goals?
1
@h.a.l.3980 do you know what the bay areas 2030 goals are? And who ebce is?
1
@h.a.l.3980 maybe you can tell me of con ed's 2040 goals for New York?
1
@h.a.l.3980 yay!! We've stuck with the appeal to authority I see?
1
@h.a.l.3980 huh, I wonder why top economist D Timmins of Boston university predicts that switching to renewables will loosen up the economy? Maybe your scientists should stick to their field of study and leave the economics to the economists?
1
@h.a.l.3980 yes, an economist has a better understanding of the economy than a scientist does, since, that's his field of study. Are you saying that that your world renown scientist knows more about economics than an economist?
1
@h.a.l.3980 Christ dude, get a grip
1
@h.a.l.3980 if I want to know what oil is most efficient when combusted, I'll ask a scientist. If I want to know how it will effect the economy 12 years from now, I'll ask an economist.
1
@h.a.l.3980 what? You produce and store electricity. It's dependant on the on site equipment. Anywhere can have onsite equipment to produce and store electricity. You're argument makes no sense because you would not need to transport anything. You'd just need to make sure you have a system that can keep up with your wattage demands at the location you are at.
1
@h.a.l.3980 the free market has been manipulated by oil and gas to give them an unfair advantage in the global economy. So yes, the free market did naturally favor them. And they took that favor, along with the power and influence money could buy, and used it to inflate there bottom dollar and stockpiles at the expense of our environment and people. So you are correct that oil companies are not evil persay. They have just been at the top of the game for so long that they're now behaving like spoiled kids.
1
@h.a.l.3980 how is Elon musk doing?
1
@h.a.l.3980 Dude, technology is advancing in that front every day. Quite being a nay sayer. Renewable energy technology is advancing in exactly that way. We may even see breakthroughs like that within our lifetime. I'm curious as to why you think it can't or won't happen? Just because we have the structure we do now? That can, and will change with time. And the less we talk those types of alternatives, the more we fall behind the rest of the world who is advancing in that way.
1
@h.a.l.3980 we are even seeing more and more companies switch to solar and wind for back ups since they can be charged and stored and make for more sustainable plans long term. It's like you've never seen half of the advancements being utilized. The largest issues right now with it are, it's in it's infancy and hasn't worked out all the bugs and details yet. But once those become more efficient and effective (which is only a matter of time) you won't need to run off of gas generated city power, and can run off of batteries and sunlight. It's affordability, and efficiency, is only going to get better with time
1
@h.a.l.3980 as a matter of fact, right now Idaho power uses 40-60% wind energy (I can't remember the exact number) to power the treasure valley. That's Boise, Idaho and the surounding area. You telling me that can't be improved on and be expanded to a city like new York or a factory in Michigan within the next 20 years?
1
@h.a.l.3980 there we go. You used to work for an oil company. Now we know why you're so adamant at keeping it on gas. Have a wonderful day.
1
@leechion2933 make informed consumer decisions when and where you can. No one needs a Tesla to make an impact. Sometimes just making better choices at the grocery store makes all the difference.
1
@h.a.l.3980 as a matter of fact, I appreciate people like you. Because without people like you, there would be even less motivation for people to work on these technologies and be able to figure out these obstacles in their path. If it wasn't for neigh sayers like you, the people working on this stuff wouldn't have anyone to prove wrong. So, keep being an oil company stooge, give those developing alternative fuel more fuel for their fire to prove people like you wrong. It's almost a necessary evil.
1
@h.a.l.3980 whatever you say oil company stooge.
1
@h.a.l.3980 you mean like petroleum, plastics, gas, oil, waxes, those kind of things? Never heard of them.
1
@h.a.l.3980 ah so wax, petroleum, plastics, oils, and gases aren't hydrocarbons then?
1
@h.a.l.3980 like seriously, the only purpose that question served was so you could say "nope" then gloat. Spoken like a true stooge.
1
@h.a.l.3980 yup, because that's exactly what my argument was. Keep it up you're making yourself look like a clown.
1
@h.a.l.3980 Point to where I said we'd stop using oil products all together?
1
@h.a.l.3980 because I said the opposite. I admittedly said we'd not be able to completely cut ourselves off from it. I said, we wouldn't have to be as dependent on it for city development and transportation. And oil/hydrocarbons would become secondary for energy use. When did I ever say we'd step away from hydrocarbons completely? You're a stooge, trolling like a stooge, throwing out your degree like a stooge, and didn't bring one iota of evidence. If all you have to rely on is your appeal to authority, your argument isn't as solid as you think it is.
1
@leechion2933 also, when it comes to commercial farming, you're right, there is not much difference between an organic carrot vs a regular carrot. And when it comes to commercial farming, there is little we can do as people to help, except to hold companies accountable who choose to use unsafe products. And I include organic farms in that as well, because a lot of organic farms use detrimental practices and pesticides, but they are organic so it sounds better to a consumer. Eating from organic farms and really anything mass produced is still going to have an impact. It's our responsibility as citizens, to hold responsible those who put the environment at risk with their farming practices. Organic and inorganic alike.
1
@leechion2933 you know, be wise enough to understand what you can change in your daily life, and hold the parties accountable for their fair share too.
1
@leechion2933 if homeless me can find ways to make an impact and save/make money with it, poor you can do the same.
1
@leechion2933 so, if you're trying the "woe is me" approach, you'll get no sympathy from me. I've been on the streets before.
1
@leechion2933 used to be. As in, not currently. You're really just reading whatever you want to out of these aren't you?
1
@leechion2933 name three ways you can minimize impact that help save money, and three ways that don't cost any money. If you can't, then do some research, and get back to me because I know they exist.
1
@leechion2933 and when I was homeless, we'd still be able to have this conversation because of an old laptop I had for free and free wifi access from Starbucks or a grocery store or something else. I didn't need money to look at youtube even when I was broke. Sounds like you just lack determination, knowledge, and imagination.
1
@leechion2933 but that's not fair. I shouldn't just superimpose my life over yours. Your experiences and limitations are valid. Have you ever looked into ways that you can be pro environment that don't cost anything?
1
@leechion2933 you are misreading what I'm saying on purpose. Stop making excuses and find out ways to be helpful that don't cost money.
