  3. @Neuromancer Russia was not opposed to giving Ukraine independence. It agreed on condition it would not join any military alliance against Russia. But Ukraine unilaterally reneged after 2014. Hence, that is ground to revoke Ukraine's independence. Crimea and up to Odessa was Russian, it was built by Catherine the Great. It was never Ukranian. The Soviet Union attached it to Ukraine. All that Ukraine has was built by the Soviet Union.

In 2014, a coup was staged that violently overthrew the Yankovich govt.. Participants of the coup included Ukro Nazi groups like Right Sector and Azov Batallion. In the crowds in the Maidan, Victoria Nuland and John McCain were there distributing sweets. Why were they there ? The coup was organised by America and Victoria Nuland had been liaising with and funding Russophobic groups. In 2008, Merkel and Sarkozy had opposed induction of Ukraine into NATO saying it would lead to war. But the US arm twisted Germany and France to accept its plan to induct Ukraine into NATO. Nuland was caught on tape saying F..k the EU. In other words, the US determines what who will run Ukraine. After the coup, and only after it, Russia took the Crimea. The reason is Sevastapol in the Crimea is the HQ of the Russian Black Sea fleet. At the time of independence, Ukraine made agreement with Russia it would lease out the use of Sevastapol port to the Russian Navy. With the seizure of power by Russophobic Ukro Nazis, they could unilaterally cancel that agreement after NATO entry, and the the US Seventh Fleet would be sailing from the Black Sea. Thus, Putin acted quickly to stop that, and took Crimea. Ukraine has continued flirting with NATO reneging on its independence declaration which said it would not join any military alliance. US and NATO forces were training the Ukranian army near Lvov. Russia demanded commitment from Ukraine to honour its original agreement with Russia of neutrality, and asked NATO to give a security guarantee. Ukraine and NATO refused, so Russia had no choice but to take technical-military action. That is going on. Russia has taken the industrial heartland, and the coastal area, and is strangling the Ukranian economy. It has got Ukraine by the scruff of the neck. Ukraine has only two choices now : accept neutrality AND cede more land (that is the price for inducing war); or continue till all of Ukraine is demolished city after city. There is nothing that NATO can do to thwart it.

Russia took back Crimea because the 2014 coup was staged by Russophobic groups funded by America, and it was the American plan to induct Ukraine into NATO. If that happened, there was the danger they would terminate the agreement for Russia to use Sevastapol in the Crimea and the US Seventh Fleet would move in there. Russia had to act immediately and they did. The coastal areas are important, and they could not let Ukraine allow US naval bases. That is why they have gone after more of the coastal areas in this round. Ukraine had to be punished for reneging on neutrality, Russia had no choice.

They showed ability to read the geopolitical situation and took prompt reaction. What the Ukranian public thought of NATO is irrelevant, Russia went in after seeing the Ukro Nazis and Russophobes who took over in 2014, and where they would take Ukraine. Russia will not allow Ukraine in NATO or NATO bases in Ukraine. Full stop. They are ready to fight a nuclear war over it. The US understands, that is why it is not sending troops.

NATO exists solely for the purpose to threaten Russia. Thus, Russia has every right to defang Ukraine and its Nazis like Right Sector and Azov Regiment, and revoke its independence. The process is underway. It was a mistake for Russia to give independence to this bunch of ingrates in the first place.

Ukraine and the US have conspired to induct Ukraine into NATO. NATO is a military organisation whose sole purpose is anti-Russian. By trying to put Ukraine in NATO, Ukraine is threatening Russia, so Russia can act in self defence as stated above.

If Ukraine threatens any signatory of the Budapest Memorandum, action in self-defence can be taken against Ukraine. Ukraine, in coordination with one signatory, the US, was threatening Russia with NATO. The plan was to put US missiles in Ukraine, stop the Russian navy's use of Sevastopol which was originally agreed by Ukraine, and make it a naval base for the US Seventh Fleet. Hence, Russia has the right to annul Ukraine's independence or take action to degrade Ukraine. All the other signatories of the memorandum tried to be sneaky, but Russia stopped their wicked machinations against it, in no uncertain terms. You can howl as much as you like, the fact is Ukraine will be broken up and taken back over a period of time. Ukraine has squandered its independence due to the the irresponsibility of its politicians and people, and due to US manipulations.

It is difficult to admit that Russia is defeating 50 nations who ganged up against it, after boasting NATO is the richest and most powerful military alliance in the world. Just look at their concluding remarks : the pendulum will swing back to Ukraine in 2025, because western artillery production will have kicked in. Contrast with the military reality : Ukraine is set to lose Donbass and open the way for Russian advance to central Ukraine. Ukraine has a serious manpower shortage, and after the ongoing Donbass and Kursk operations, more will be dead. So more western artillery shells will not change the reality.

  12. The conclusion is airy fairy. The pompous analyst says Ukraine has shown it can carry out strategic surprise attacks, it has changed Ukraine's narrative with Europe. He claims the pendulum will swing to Ukraine in 2025, because the west will produce more artillery. It is trying to put on a positive spin on a losing situation. Ukraine has manpower shortage which is not going to be fixed with more western artillery. After the ongoing Donbass operation, more Ukrainians are going to be killed; and Russia has started killing them in Kursk also. The Ukrainians are forcibly taking men off the streets to fight. Then how can you say Ukraine's position is going to improve in 2025 ? The west is just fooling around and trying to save its face.

  17. Don't make excuses. The US staged a coup in 2014 using Ukranian Nazis and the like, so that it will have a govt. supporting Ukrainian entry in NATO. The US wanted bases in Ukraine. Human rights, corruption etc. were not issues for the US now. In 2023, the US does not want Ukraine in NATO because it can see Ukraine is being defeated, the counter offensive is a flop, Ukraine cannot get back what it lost, the US does not have artillery and equipment to supply, and after some time the Russians will advance. Only if that is ignored, then the punch will certainly come. That was the sequence for Ukraine as well. Russia complained about NATO expansion to its borders, it reminded Ukraine about its pledge about neutrality in its declaration of independence. It asked for a security guarantee, but that was denied by NATO and the US, and only after that, Russia delivered the punch And when Russia punches someone in the face, that person won't be standing. That is what happened to Ukraine, and NATO is afraid of fighting with Russia. In Lithuania, NATO will end up fighting with Russia and Lithuanians are going to be killed.

In Vilnius, one Ukrainian activist asked Jake Sullivan why US is blocking Ukraine's entry into NATO, was it because it was afraid of Russia ? She was told to show gratitude to America for the money spent !

  27. Now a hint of realism has come into western reporting. Is Ukraine’s Kursk incursion grinding to a halt, Channel 4 asks? Of course it has. That was bound to be the case. Ukraine cannot advance and hold onto Kursk with 10,000 troops. The Russians had to take time out to fortify the Kursk nuclear power plant, and are now unleashing their fire power and killing the Ukrainian troops and attacking their supply lines in Kursk. And Sky News which was celebrating says today there were massive air strikes on Sumy region in adjacent Ukraine. Meanwhile, the Russian advance on Donbass has increased and they are getting ready to capture the key city of Porvorsk. At the end, Ukraine will have sacrificed scarce soldiers and equipment, for an ephemeral show which got applause from the west.

These are all symbolic gestures to cover up NATO's wrong policy of eastwards expansion. It has got Ukraine destroyed, and the EU economies screwed. It will be more intelligent for the west to seek a negotiated settlement. Turkey is showing intelligence in mediating. The west cannot supply enough shells, tanks and all the rest in time. The west is too cowardly to supply soldiers as they don't want to be massacred by the Russians. Then the advantage swings to Russia. It will be just like the Red Army prevailed over Nazi Germany eventually.

  38. What’s it like to negotiate with Russia? What was it like to fight Russia ? At the end of WW2, the Potsdam conference was held after the unconditional surrender. The Big Three were there : Stalin, Churchill/Atlee and Truman. de Gaulle demanded France to be included in Potsdam - after all the US had allowed France to hold an occupation zone in Germany. Stalin refused - he asked what was France's contribution to the war effort. France had surrendered and cooperated with the Nazis. And the French Charlemagne brigade of the Waffen SS had fought in the last days in Berlin to obstruct the Red Army's entrance into Berlin. Hence, the Russians are tough fighters and tough negotiators. They are nice if you deal with them straight, but if you double cross them and cheat, they are tough. Once they decide fighting is the only way, they fight hard. The Ukrainians should have known this as they were part of the Red Army.

  42.  @gnehzeey  Ukraine's sovereignty was always conditional. It had to give up nukes, and agree to neutrality. Otherwise, Russia would not have allowed it independence. If Ukraine hangs out with bad friends who encourage it to threaten the country that contributed to building its steels mills, nuclear power plants, airplane factories etc., then it has shown wickedness, so corrective action needs to be taken, and the baseball bat will be used. That is what Russia is enforcing and it will not give up till Ukraine goes back to the neutrality it promised, and there are no more NATO training camps in Ukraine nor any possibility of putting US missiles.

Yes, Z deserves credit for standing his ground, but not for being foolish to think he could get use Russophobia, hiding behind the hope of NATO entry and parking US missiles in Ukraine, to threaten Russia. That is a foreign policy disaster for Ukraine. Ukraine does not have the luxury to take a militantly anti-Russian stand to get into the western camp. Russia decided to nip the threat of the US using Ukraine to threaten Russia with missiles. At the end of the day, even if Russia could not capture Kiev and overthrow him, it still has the capacity to reduce Ukraine to rubble. Afterwards, Russia can wage a continuous low intensity war and not allow Ukraine to be rebuilt. Ukraine will end up balkanised, with some areas under Russian control, some areas under Ukranian control, which would need continuous supply of EU money to maintain. Zelensky and his pro western faction is responsible for getting Ukraine destroyed. The west is also responsible for encouraging Ukraine to cross Russia's red line, and then refusing to go and fight for Ukraine.
