Yes China still has big cities that are functioning just fine because of the concentration of wealth in the top 5% of the population. China had a large population, so even if 5% of the people can spend, they can still appear to spend. But overall people aren't even buying domestic low cost brands if their income is under ¥ 2000. When you have no income or your property dropped in price by 60% you're not going to be spending 3 month's salary on a new phone
