Then you heard misinformation. Russia sold Alaska to America wholesale.
1
@rexdenemo5235 yes I have. It was a sale, totally control of Alaska was handed over to the US forever. Russia has no claim to Alaska.
1
During the time of the purchase France and America were on extremely bad terms, with the French government having been pretty pro-CSA. The Russians on the other hand were one of the few European nations to support the Union.
1
“Allegedly” Aka you’re making shit up, or just plain out don’t know what you’re talking about. Look we’re talking about two imperial powers trading territory. This shit happened all the time back then. That Russia never colonized the interior didn’t change the fact that back then they were still seen as having the legal claim to all of Alaska, and hence when they sold it that legal claim to all of Alaska went to America.

No
1
Good. Already have enough people.
1
Then the HRE should be considered Roman as well.
1
The split was for administration. No one ever saw it as the empire itself splitting.
1
Except Rome wasn’t the capital for the western empire by that time and hadn’t been for a long time. The west was generally governed from either Ravenna or Milan.
1
Then I guess Romania is the true heir to the empire.
1
Deposing the emperor and declaring yourself king of Italy sounds pretty noteworthy to me.
1
@tzeentchvonsheo9868 except Romulus was the emperor, like it or not. Odoacer’s actions ended the empire in the west.
1
The Byzantines were still the strongest and richest state in Europe for a long time faster the fall of the west.
1
@MietoK except the Roman’s did adopt pants. By the end of the empire pants were standard issue for their soldiers.
1
Lol
1
No
1
@marijntaal1531 pointing out how you’re ignorant and hypocritical isn’t rudeness. The citizens of the empire never saw it being divided. On top of that Roman as a concept extended far beyond the city of Rome, and by the end of the empire rome hasn’t been the capital of the empire for centuries.
1
Except that 476 saw the entire region of Italy fall out of Roman hands.
1
Why stop there? Why jot go with the abo foment of Dacia and Britannia?
1
The orthodox consider Byzantium to be the second Rome. If you’re going to spout this bullshit to say why Moscow is Rome at least get the idea behind it right.
1
Except they were the Roman Empire. And unlike the HRE they had a continuous line of descent of rulers and governmental traditions to prove it.
1
@proild that is honestly the dumbest thing I I’ve read today.
1
Except the Byzantines were the eastern Roman Empire. And if you remember east Germany didn collapse, it was reunited with west Germany. Two very different scenarios between east Germany and Byzantium. And that’s not even close to how the split between east and west Rome worked. Have you even actually read up on this
1
Yes it did fall in 1453. Claiming to be Roman doesn’t make you Roman.
1
Because that Greek city was the last center of the Roman government. Roman identity was not something limited by ethnicity. It’s like saying that Mexican Americans are not real Americans. The Roman Empire as not a nation state like modern day European states are.
1
Wrong. For a significant chunk of the empire rome wasn’t even the capital.
1
Except by 476 Rome wasn’t the center of the western empire either.
1
Because Roman was an identify they spread far outside of the city.
1
Because most people want to have kids.
1
Most estimates out the population say mixing at around 9 to 10 billion.
1
The single biggest link to low birth rates is access to education for women. Societies where women can get educated pretty much all have low birth rates as women choose to have careers and one or two children as opposed to regions where women can’t get an education and are married off and have like 13 kids.
1
I’m sure you have some sources to back that claim up.
1
The Russians can claim to be Roman’s all they want but marrying a Byzantine to be princess doesn’t make you Roman. Most European nobility intermarried into Byzantine nobility.
1
Yes there is a lot of evidence for a lot of people people dying of famine. Famine happened all the time before the advent of modern agriculture. But more than that the limits of agricultural technology limited how many people could be supported.
1
@schmetterling4477 peak oil is when it requires burning more oil to produce the energy to run oil wells than you get oil out of the ground. If we had hit peak oil in 2004 we’d have known because the entire system whosoever either collapsed or switched over to nuclear.
1
@schmetterling4477 that is literally what I just said dude. Peak oil is when it costs more energy than you get out of the oil to extract oil. However you are still wrong as peak oil has not yet been reached.
1
@schmetterling4477 that doesn’t change a thing single thing I said. We haven’t reached peak oil yet, you’re just wrong.
1
@schmetterling4477 and you’re still wrong. Peak oil hasn’t happened yet.
1
@schmetterling4477 buddy that is not how peak oil is defined. Do you suffer from literal brain rot?
1
Except that’s not at all the case, as fertilizers where an extremely lucrative market in 1800’s to the point that countries went o war with each other over nitrate deposits. And fertilizers tog row the food you eat doesn’t sound unnecessary to me.
1
That’s because they aren’t the third Rome.
1
And rail allowed it to be shipped even more efficiently on land. Rail revolutionized logistics.
1
@CSDragon not really
1
Who cares
1
Yes turn all of Texas into a suburban hellscape. No thank you. Cities are bad enough. And overpopulation has nothing to dow out space, it has to do with resources.
1
The federalists got there name from being the main supporters of the constitution.
1
Lol nice joke
