@Techmagus76 The projectile can be solid. The bubble is the gas. In an in air "anti-bubble" the bubble would be a low pressure vacuum(hard) or plasma (easier).
2
You presume that want or need to go anywhere with it.
2
@Jwinius We probably known very little about what is possible.
2
Unless this is actually a different protocol than is currently used. Different algos would be needed either way..
2
A good rational question... pooped on by the usual tin-foilies.
2
@robertpotvin8872 Spacetime is the reference field(s) of relativistic effects, particles or observers.
2
@ Elon Derangement Syndrome I imagine. What they don't realize is that it has two forms. Irrational love as well as hate.
2
Life, not likely at all in an alternately extreme cold with brief moments of extreme heat and high radiation environment. Stellar nebula is quite good at sterilizing and even resetting the "clocks" on isotopes.
2
@schrodingerszombie2401 Alpha Centauri is only 4.3 ly away from here. I've had mail take longer to be delivered on Earth. Besides that error, your premise also has a flip side. All those long gone civilizations leave a "fossil" of EM and other signs of their existence that continue to propagate thru space without them. So it should be possible to hear "something" regardless of when they actually existed. Presuming we just aren't too feeble to hear it.
1
That does not mean it has any more consciousness than your computer does in displaying this post to you.
1
It would be far easier for an AI to snuff out life on Mars than Earth. All it has to do is open all the pod bay doors.... Musk really has lost it.
1
Probably not. We just aren't looking/asking the right questions yet.
1
If you don't understand the difference then don't understand either.
1
@lost4468yt Its a gray area. Not helped by the fact that LLMs are a "black box" that is not completely understood by even those who created them. The complaint is largely "pushback" by threatened established human interests with not a little bit of wanting to "cash in". Which is not unreasonable. If your work (or the IP you "own") is used to in order to derive a product then you are generally entitled to compensation for it. I imagine this will ultimately result in a tax or royalty fee on AI companies to cover the social costs of the tech.
1
@JakeStine That is completely wrong.
1
Yeah probably not. That close of a close approach would have disrupted the orbital motion of the proto planetary disk far more than it is. As it is, every aberration is easily explained by the chaos of the clearing of the orbital tracks and early bombardment eon. The only things still going retro are the stuff that is only loosely bound and might have been collected long after the nebula cleared. But I guess you've gotta publish something that says something that will a paper published and cited after you spent that grant on compute time, eh?
1
"Its so complicated we can't explain it. But "fusion" and "AI". Give us millions of dollars." Impressive.
1
@methylene5 You have it completely backwards. Trees and biofixation is a long term solution. It isn't a short term fix that people have been convinced is necessary because of global warming fearmongering. This causes people to support stupid ideas like carbon capture machines, spraying chemicals in the atmosphere, and making everyone (except the rich) eat bugs and soybeans.

@0:52 "We don't know so... quantum state!" /History Channel Aliuns Guy meme. But of course. lol
1
@10:05 We see what you did there.
1
Almost surely wrong. But... it published a paper.
1
Forget the scam device, just be thankful you don't live somewhere where every one talks like that.
1
Or a million monkeys typing away at notepad window...
1
The Standard Model has explanatory power because it is a rube goldberg contraption held together by the group think mentioned.
1
Because?
1
@slaw1448 @34口2fds蛋トマgs is likely a "political scientists"
1
Superderminism is a way to handwave away the problems of QM. Its really just rationalized nihilism.
1
@laurentbergeronmusic Less valid and more like as much of a wild guess as any other. 8.000 Earth years or ∞. Pick which ever helps you sleep at night.
1
TLDR: Writers and analysists have realized that AI is going to put them out of a job and they are skered and looking for rocks to hide under..
1
@liordagan9342 Reducto absurdo much?
1
Quantum Computers, always an indeterministic number of years away.
1
Because its not a good idea but it would definitely be a waste of money.
1
If the Universe were predetermined it would require perfect symmetry. If the Universe had perfect symmetry, quantum effects wouldn't be a thing and Universe would have long ago found a static equilibrium and we would not exist. Therefore determinism is false.
1
TLDR: Physicist yells at clouds.
1
AI has replaced writers....
1
Quantum Navigator; they channel the spirit of lieutenants who were never found after getting lost on a dead reckoning navigation course.
1
What is more likely? A: Dyson Sphere structures are common in our region of the galaxy with no other sign of advanced civilization. B: Brown dwarf stars and stray super-jovian planets are common in our region of the galaxy.
1
"Passenger zone", the area of the ST distortion where you won't be shredded into your constituent particles.
1
AI Sabine?
1
It still doesn't matter. Even if they could and the singularities could fragment upon merger into multiples, they would all still be below the event horizon, and basically encapsulated by it. But that is a big if even for that.
1
@josepheridu3322 Did your Marketing 101 teacher tell you that? They must not deduct for malapropism fails anymore.
1
The KNOWN Universe is only 10B ly across. The entire Universe is likely much MUCH larger. The Entire Universe possibly started very very small. We almost surely don't know all of the rules of the Universe. That the Universe has a consciousness is my favored explanation/attribution for what we call "God" (or even Gods).
1
Stick to physics please.
1
"Vance said something stupid " If you listen carefully for the dog whistle, he means whyte people aren't having enough babies in order to not get "replaced". The non-breeder isn't in his voter base so it probably works for him.
1
You won't like it.
1
@evilotto9200 You won't like what others will do to protect their secrets.
1
Consciousness is just a frame of reference that is aware of itself.
1
@bakerkawesa No in the scales of eternity if you delete your genes forever.
1
I need to remember not to click on Sabine's videos when she not actually talking about physics...
