Next Russia captures a mid sized town a few miles across the border in just under a year with only 100k casualties, pretend the flanks aren't collapsing. Next up its trench warfare that never ends, unless Ukraine breaks them with the 1,085 Tanks, 4,185 AFVs, 2,000 HMMWVs and 870 Artillery that they've acquired recently. Oh and the shovel thing came from an ISW report saying they were armed with Rifles and shovels, mostly to highlight the lack of heavy support. Its only people with reading comprehension difficulty like yourself who spout otherwise.

Typically when you invade a country you don't want to get bogged down in trench warfare that never ends a few miles across the border. This war has been a disaster and complete humiliation for Russia no matter how you try to spin it. Like I said Prighozin was aggressively low balling his casualty numbers and high balling Ukraine's. Like it or not there is this thing called defenders advantage, and Wagner was using prisoners for meat waves. Who do you think took more casualties? Do you even know what a casualty is? Its killed and wounded combined. Serious and minor wounds. Its not like you get wounded and are allowed to retire, most people who are casualties will return to the fight unless they are maimed or killed. You understand that right?

  11. Russia was supposed to remove its forces from the Donbas, withdraw its support of the rebels and return the Donbas to Ukraine under the supervision of the OSCE. Russia violated Minsk on day one. Of course there would be no Minsk agreement if Russia hadn't violated the Budapest memorandum.

  22.  @rickhawkins218  It wasn't a coup, it was a protest movement. The same government was in charge of Ukraine after the movement as before. What really happened was Russia embargoed Ukraine after Yanukovich tried to sign the EU association agreement, violating the Budapest memorandum in the process. This caused Yanukovich to backpedal, which was very unpopular and prompted protests. Nobody was asking for Yanukovich to flee the country, he did that on his own accord. They just wanted elections.

If after 20 years the ANA wasn't able to fight for themselves they never would be. And like I said nobody was attacking the US they just left. The US could have left any time after they got Bin Laden and declared victory.

  35.  @debbaranyabiswas1102  There's this thing called defenders advantage. Even Prigozhin admitted 20k Wagner KIA, which is a fairly aggressive lowball. Lets say 30k, wounded are usually 2-3 times as high as KIA. Also there were not just wagner but regular Russian forces in and around Bakhmut. So yeah around 100k casualties. There was almost no western equipment that I saw in Bakhmut, except maybe some Humvee's and Maxxpro's. Mostly it was light infantry dug in with the occasional T72/T64, but mostly light infantry. Russia gave its all at Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Kherson and lost there.

Russia has destroyed multiple cities, the spent last winter trying to destroy the Ukrainian power grid to kill as many civilians as possible, so much restraint. They've done everything short of using nukes to win the war, and they cant use them or their few remaining allies will cut them off. The reason this war continues is primarily Ukrainian resolve and Russian incompetence. Or do you really think that WW1 style attrition warfare that never ends was the plan all along?

Ukraine has its own relations with NATO; there is the Ukraine-NATO Council. At the end of the day the decision is to be made by NATO and Ukraine. It is a matter for those two partners.”

  45.  @BillC-64  Ukraine had no interest in joining NATO prior to Russia's invasion only around 10% wanted to join, and several countries in the alliance were opposed to the idea. The invasion began in 2014 by the way. Do you think it only started in 2022? Its also laughable you think Russia gets to dictate where foreign states station their troops, obviously they wouldn't accept that nobody would. If China demanded no CTSO states were allowed to station troops by its border how do you think that would be received? Howls of derision.

Do you really think whataboutism is a good argument? Well the Russian's invaded Hungary therefore Vietnam was justified. See how silly that is? Good job cherry picking one conflict on the list, not sure if you noticed but there was more than one. Nobody cared that much about any of them, they were annoying. (I said this in my first post, keep working on your reading comprehension, you'll get it!) It was only when they started annexing countries that anybody gave af. The US lost interest in Afghanistan, they occupied them in a few weeks and the Taliban spent twenty years hiding in caves. There hadn't been an attack on coalition forces in years. If after twenty years the ANA weren't able to fight for themselves they never would be able to. If you think Afghanistan was problematic you should talk to Russia, it was only because they allowed coalition logistics to use their airspace and railroads that it was possible. If you want to see what actual defeat in Afghanistan looks like refer to Russia's invasion, they got smoked so hard their whole country collapsed.
