Don't you think that a man who boasted to having stolen 280 horses from mostly poor settlers should be addressed by the police. I am sure the poor settlers he stole from certainly wanted the police to address his extensive criminality. By 1869 most of the squatters in the Greta, Moyhu, Benalla area were gone. Ned Kelly WAS an evil man who was a murderer, thief, hostage taker, bank robber and stand-over-thug. You have no idea what you are talking about.

  27.  @mariustan9275  Where did you get the idea that Ned Kelly had supporters. In NE Victoria there were 14,500 people and Kelly's supporters numbered about 250, mostly extended family members and criminal associates. Ned Kelly was loathed in NE Victoria and was shunned by the decent people.

The trouble he was having with police was because they were trying to curb his criminal behaviours. He admitted to having stolen at least 280 horses, and they were mostly from poor settlers. the police were acting properly regarding this criminal.
