I don’t care if John Wayne’s face looks more chiseled. Some of his classic films have been worked on to give the 1080/4K resolution, which looks great. The actual quality of the film matters.

@speokeosai Democrats making garbage policies is no accident. It’s because the became the party of elites, controlled by the deep state.
1
They already did this to Colorado.
1
@hdslave Mostly Millennials and Gen Z.
1
Ouch. They may have took that option out on purpose.
1
Do you expect the average person to write their own book? What's interesting about somebody who has worked in a retail store or worked in an office building for 30 years?
1
All the TV stuff I watch is old. Andy Griffith, Golden Girls, Rowan & Martin’s Laugh In, etc etc. There was a time when TV shows on prime time weren’t there to insult the audience.
1
That’s how this game works.
1
What drives do you suggest?
1
@ That was the plan all along. That's how you get totalitarianism.
1
The red flag for me was when Adobe switched from users owning their copy of the software to subscriptions, including cloud storage. That was back in 2013. Things have gotten much worse in the years after under big tech.
1
LA is still bad.
1
This sounds like Dollar General, which is about the worst store I’ve been to.
1
@PaintingOfTheMind In a way, I’m glad Kroger is behind the times in regards to actually effectively price gouging people. Still awful. I worked at Safeway, Walmart and other retail. All of them since the mid 2000’s when I began to work in retail has gone downhill in some capacity. I miss the days when you cut out coupons from newspapers, take them to the store, and get that exact discount as long as you got there in the time frame the coupons lasted. Now you have to do it on smartphones or go through what you’re describing which both open up doors to many different ways you can be manipulated.
1
@bobbobbinson1841 Because it was.
1
I have $100 gift card money at Amazon and I don’t know if I’ll spend it anytime soon. Most everything there is junk.
1
What about physical media?
1
That’s why you need to take care of yourself and make necessary precautions. People die in accidents every day.
1
Vancouver BC is insane.
1
Humphrey Bogart and company were paid to act in this fashion. There are books that detail how 1930s - 1940s Hollywood actors were told to perform in front of the cameras.
1
@JustSomeDinosaurPerson The problem is everything depends on the internet. I’m tired of seeing this garbage but this is the world we live in now. It’s not the internet I enjoyed 20 years ago. Heck, not even the one 12 years ago. You paid one subscription, that was it. Now thanks to all these live-streaming services and so on you could pay 20 different subscriptions if you’re rich and willing enough. That’s not to mention these livestream services purposely leave a lot of media out so you pay subscriptions for the other media. You thought cable TV 10 - 15 years ago was bad? This is much worse.
1
@JustSomeDinosaurPerson It wasn’t free, you still had to pay a monthly fee. Older people can remember the internet being more costly, back when most didn’t have it or even personal computers. Today there are over a dozen streaming services that cost a monthly fee, and you need to be online. There are far more services that cost money that require internet. It’s no longer the one Internet fee anymore.
1
@donatelloDoesmachines13 That’s always been the case, but the internet is bigger than it’s ever been. This, there is much more of it.
1
I respect the Italians.
1
It’s greed.
1
Everything was better 20 years ago.
1
Louis Rossmann on “back in the day”. He is referring to the 2009 - 2015 era. Sadly we are past that point.
1
Add Seattle, Los Angeles, Detroit, St Louis and Cleveland to that list.
1
I feel the same way. I used to visit SF, and I saw old photos of the city at a museum. It was absolutely beautiful. Sad that it’s now ugly, and crime is rampant.
1
@RichFreeman I just need to clarify that FOSS means free and open source software for anyone here who isn’t too familiar with tech that watches Louis. While on the subject, I’ve actually had FOSS suddenly get features removed and options taken away. Sometimes the interface gets switched around. One of them came out with a subscription model and when I went on the sub reddit to complain, the moderators were these women who were being overly rude. I uninstalled the software and never looked back.
1
I have the StarCraft, Diablo and Warcraft 3 Battle Chests. The issue I have is getting them to run and play on modern systems. I have a disc player, so that isn’t an issue.
1
Has been for over a century. It’s a play pen for mobsters. New Jersey is the same thing.
1
@brianw4brian It’s why I respect German Americans. Many went rural in the early 20th century and that rural atmosphere mostly prevented them from having a real mob of their own. Other ethnicities like Italian, Irish, Korean and Chinese all concentrated in the big cities.
1
Modern kid shows are garbage. I watched the Flintstones and it’s still great.
1
Stay in California also applies here.
1
Netflix was much better back then.
1
@DemonNeno They had more competition back then. Blockbuster was still relying on their video rental, peaking in 2004 with the amount of stores available. That couldn’t adjust to the rising tide of the internet, and streaming as we knew it in the late 2000s/early 2010s basically put it out of business.
1
@walterroche8192 I've known the Internet Archive since it started. It DID WORK, but corporations and politicians infiltrated it. Therefore it is no longer a reliable option.
1
Just hope there aren’t ghosts who will walk around who lived in that house.
1
@ That act was in 1996.
1
Boomers were lucky.
1
Same thing going on where I live.
1
IMDB has also been compromised and they’ve also censored/removed reviews, particularly ones that criticized Disney Marvel films, despite not breaking any rules on the website. They also removed their forums and did other things that have not benefited the user.
1
@Dhalin This is just part of a bigger problem. California is a one party state and every tech company there has to toe the line. It’s all pro authoritarian and they don’t want people to be self sufficient.
1
Massachusetts
1
Sounds like a leftist/Trumper.
1
While it may not be great, I get better results just going to a retail store in person and buying drives that are in their original packaging. The internet has been overrun by scammers and people wanting to scam. With how big and mainstream the internet is, this was inevitable.
1
@kered13 70’s NYC was also a cesspool. Crime and dirtyness. A Baby Boomer friend told me NYC was completely out of power for a brief period in 1977. The criminals and looters went outside and stole what they could from the stores while they vandalized.
1
As Henry Ford said accurately, "People can have the Model T in any color, so long as it's black".
1
As someone who is from California, the politicians ruined it.
