I'm convinced it's just money laundering funneling record profits to VIP friends

It's the Walk of Shame. She might just disappear after this round of "damage control".

@owenharrison761 it will have to make a Billion just to cover the cost.

Basically, the Highlander series....

You're so right. I think that's one of Will's graces, actually. He didn't fill in the spaces, but tries to find the right words. And someone else can see the space and choose to fill it in. I think that's the best dance that two ppl can do

she wasn't bad ass, tho, and was fairly new to the army, too. it WAS a way to get a rookie involved, for sure. but bum-rushing a dude out a window is not "more bad ass" than anyone in that movie, esp. since Andie had just did an awesome move to bury an axe in bad guys neck. no reason to bumrush him at all, he was dead already.

I hope you had a great time in Orlando. It's not the best of Florida, but the most popular-- at least until the last few years.
20
Looking for this! Lol

@josephbrown9685 I read it a couple of times. You really can't imagine women reading a well-known book written by our generation's Einstein? Really?
11
@dub47usmc me, too. I don't get a specific reference, esp if it's from punisher or daredevil
11
This isn't the last temptation of christ. This is a small budget movie that is more of a publicity stunt. And all the right wing ppl are frothing over how stunning and brave they were to make it. (Just look at the comments here. Ffs)

Just rewatched Highlander the other night on a whim. Queen's score makes the cheez into a cult classic. And Sean Connery is iconic. No way to remake the movie without such a unique soundtrack or particular actors. Don't let them make it! D:

That line was LONG after he was established as a dude with integrity in those movies AND after he's portrayed playboys in others, and perhaps he likes being a ladies' man or even a man's man. But right there is an example of the double standard: men are respected more for being attractive but women are respected less (for example, the monikers "chad" versus "bunny").

Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek was classic sci-fi, examining the human condition; in the most extreme future where everything is free and there are no challenges--except to your own morality. He asked the question, what should humans do, if they could do anything? He was able to look at all the issues of the day through that lens and dressed them up in classical theater (once going quite on the nose by featuring Shakespearean actors). And kids like me grew up knowing that superficial things like skin color were silly to fight over, but conquering the urge to fight and to hate is within all of us, and that to use reason without losing compassion is the real fight. James Tiberius Kirk is best captain!

And can tell the story in 10 minutes instead of 12 hours. As a Morgan, get my name out your mouth, Disney!
6
Lives in the balance will do that, I supposed.
6
Wh- Wh- What???!
6
Rhonda Rousey was believable, at least. She's a beast and can fight better than most in the cast, besides Jet Li.
6
Like Big Bang Theory_, a dumb show that's trying to be smart. Compared to _Futurama that is a smart show that plays dumb. Asoka was shat out and maybe like playing with action figures.
5
Scarlett Johansen is not "sagging". she's going to be like every other 40-50 year old Hollywood actress that looks 30 for about 20 years
5
Yes, both these were explained in the movie. I think the drinker was out of the room for those lines.
5
Crescenciowashisname-o they aren't supposed to be good. Go back and watch Blood Sport or Cobra or Predator or Alien/s or even The Thing. These are all cheap movies and don't have huge setpieces, In fact, they are all about Our Hero(es) motivtion and how they face the challenge. It's about the action and the conflict with the villian(s).
5
@ktvindicare i think it's more about the Disney "factory approach" to film or series making. We have lots of insiders saying they already have set pieces and story beats laid out when the director and writers come to the project. They are not focused on story anymore at Disney. You know, that place that was all about the magic of storytelling through animation.
5
Samuel jackson and Nic Cage never turn down a role, so they just didn't ask them. Shame.
5
Just watched this a week ago and it holds up. Glad your review introduces a younger audience to a classic sci-fantasy summer flick.
5
I thought Karl Urban's Dredd did justice to Stalone's but it's not a classic film

And because spooky was popoular: blade, underworld, hocus pokus, the craft, mary bram strokers' dracula (gary oldman, keanu reeves, and winona ryder), sleep hollow,Interview with a Vampire, and the Addams movies (and more I'm forgetting). And then the crow and the Queen of the Damned come on with the iconic characters underscored by memorable soundtracks really stick with you. That's why they are cult classics despite low production values. 🖤

yes, he's a tortured messiah. he was plagued by dreams that he then had to realize and just did his best. at the end, he seems like he needs to know the truth, even if it killed him.
4
Remember how they made her strip down to her underwear? Guys don't (generally) have to get undressed, and no being shirtless is not the same as an upshot of your crotch in only panties. The Drinker even mentioned that scene in both his Extra Shots on Alien and his Drinker Recommends on Alien. clearly he was at an "impressionable" age when he saw the movie.
4
@stanedgie5910 i agree. I really hate this trend of replacing the aging actor you paid to see with young, esp. female, actors. As will has said many times, there are respectful and creative ways to pass the batton to younger generations. Netflix's One Piece talks about it and it's handled very well, i thought.
4
@ludwigbeethoven5186 how is it all made up?? I remember the book better, of course. (We started the war--oops!) But from the movie, they really found the brain bug and they thought they'd finally get the intel they needed to be able to win, otherwise humanity was an endangered species.
4
@sg-yq8pm sounds like the broken windows fallacy. Yes, it pays ppl to work, but ia it meaningful and does it contribute to society? No one wants this movie, so it's misplaced wages. The not so subtle point drinker mskes is these substantial funds could have gone to ppl producing a common good rather than a waste of ppl's time both making and watching the film.
4
@osmanyousif7849 the elephant in this comment thread is _Passion of the Christ_, another passion project 🙃 but even more challenging bc none of the cast speaks English (sadly Greek was missing, which would have been correct for Jews at the time of Christ's lifetime). Point is, I thought it was very well directed but of course it's audience is very specific and it has a lot of the same problems that CD points out in this one.

@RobidyBobidy1 as someone in my 40s, I guess I see it at as both but on the whole still needed. it was needed over the last 100 years for different reasons, and will likely still be needed in the next because equality never goes out of style. Despite how the extremists tarnish the ideal, don't give up on treating everyone with respect and pushing for equal treatment (not outcome, mind you).
3
😂😂😂😂😂😂 made my day
3
do you really think she has any say over costuming? she only has say on whether she wants the role, and it was great for her career. perhaps as a younger woman she thought it was fun, but now on reflection she'd rather be seen as more than just a body but also an actor? if you think of many famous leading men, their looks are one of many good attributes not he only one. women in Hollywood do not usually get this treatment. sex sells and the women you know about have had to accept this to become famous. you don't often hear about the women who didn't want to.

$$$$$$$

Same. Ive loved him since the 80s
3
Have a good time at the Con!
3
Yes, epic. And well delivered. I thought he was going to add "away now" to the end but i guess he didn't want to change the quote.
3
double standards are like that. but also, everyone is different, and are allowed to have different opinions.
3
@thee_morpheus yep, def agree. They carved out a niche, one that I'd argue ppl didn't know they wanted,. And then said, Naaaah lets fall back on filling the movie with young nobodies.
3
I encourage everyone to find the actual footage of the ceremony
3
@berrytreei think it's so bad that he decided to use it ss yet another example of the rehash and reboot phase of Disney/LucasFilm.
3
same! i finally watched it with my oldest son a few years ago. we had watched the odd episodes before, but I waited to show the Niska and other mature eps. Finally at 17, I let him read RA salvatore and watch the entire series completely. really a great introduction to the spectrum of morality AND how your victims deal with your betrayal. very good TV
2
@ChaoticYak1 oh, you're right! How long have I conflated the two!??!!
2
hmm.. i looked into the etymology. Andromache means "fighter of men", and there's an Amazon warrior of that name (perhaps the inspiration here). andro comes from Greek andre meaning "man" and mache is Greek mache meaning "a battle, i.e. (figuratively) controversy:--fighting, strive, striving." she's man-fighter, and was a lesbian---name checks out, i suppose.
2
@RobidyBobidy1 i don't get the joke. how does wanting equality between men and women getting "worse"?
2
given the MeToo movement, I think we know why "while still sexualizing themselves in order to continue to land parts." exists. i'm sure it happens to men, too. Henry Cavil has to have hot tub and sex scenes to make The Witcher, but he wanted to make great art as a fan of the books and games eventho he seems to be decent, very humble, and not a "playboy". People do what they have to if they want to work in Hollywood. "hate the game not the player" etc
2
Oh, that's a hot take. "Modern problems require modern solutions."
