They were evening willing to fake terror attack on American citizens (Operation Northwoods) After JFK got assassinated, Johnson gave the green light for invading Vietnam and became a war hawk president. Succeeding LBJ, Nixon & Kissinger made everything worse before FINALLY pulling out.

  16. I think all ten reasons are cummulatively the reason why Ukraini hasn't destroyed the bridge. The main reasons are probably the difficulty of launching a ranged strike, the potential civilian casualties, and the negatives of backing Russia too far into the corner.

  17.  @richardarriaga6271  Not Russia. If Russian sons and fathers were drafted out of Western Russia (ie: St. Petersburg/Moscow), mobs would form in Red Square. The Kremlin is juggling to make sure that doesn't happen. That's why the Russian MoD is resorting to such crude and undesirable enlisting tactics.

  18. Before even watching this video, I suspect that Russia strategic arsenal is only 1/5 operational; +only 1/3 of tactical arsenal being operational. That being said, that is still a lot of (albeit out-of-date) nukes that still work. Even just 300 working nukes, similar to China's arsenal, is enough to cause a nuclear holocaust. Of course, it's not like I buy the Kremlin's nuclear bluff, either way.

  19. I remember learning that the students attending UC Berkeley in 1940 held a large protest in favor of Hitler's "Leadership" in Europe and for the US to abandon her historical allies. That's something people on campus don't like remembering today. This was just a sample of the general sympathetic sentiments that were felt by many Americans across the nation in the years & months before the Attack on Pearl Harbor.

  25. It isn't the coup itself, but the threat of a coup. I believe the only way Russia will stand down from Ukraine is if Putin finds another way to strengthen the credibility of his regime. The unfortunate truth is... War is popular (amongst the general public, not the more informed elites), and it can keep desperate people in power. And as long as there is a threat to his reign (and the power of the Siloviki), there will remain a political appetite in the Kremlin to continue fighting the costly, forever war.
