She's representing privilege. She is definitely the problem. She's misrepresenting an entire group of people by trying to dictate how two different groups should be treated. Buying RGB headphones and wearing a cute outfit to play a game is certainly NOT representative of the majority of men or women that lazily lounge around playing a game on crappy speakers and a crappy table.

@InvisibleMan-tb8ke Runescape, text-based games, you just type that you are. Some people believe it some don't. Generally, you're treated differently in those simplest cases.

To be fair, what Ludwig argues about saying his transcribed text can't be used by some other independent site is a little silly. It's like saying using an entire book and paraphrasing it is illegal. If it was word-for-word quoting and akin to plagiarism, that's more illegal.

seriously.. this price point alone IS the red flag. such child-like minds commenting about the state of the game when the price point for this game has been always $100+ and riddled with controversial and sketchy developer practices EVEN AFTER investing in such a red flag.

@KeNnY4547 You can't easily share links on YouTube.

The graphics are not shitty; they are simplistic (as you go on to state with the third word in your sentence). It is a piece of the game that is well defined. Graphics are meant to form the first impressions while also being technically remarkable. People care if the look of the game is cohesive. People do not care about the resolution of individual textures in a game unless you're a game reviewer that is picky and has a standard for game development, namely TotalBiscuit.

@charliebrewster2809 I agree. I doubt anyone can replace TB.

People bring their own problems into gaming way too much. Nobody asked for the Twitter 'hot takes.' You don't have to do anything, you don't even have to pay $, or leave a comment on YouTube.

Guys.. its not predatory. Its a cosmetic... who cares.

Modern popular old video games are just walking marketing ads.

user-tx4wj7qk4t Just found it funny, that's all. I've seen my fair share of corporate software development which looks closer to blue-collar work than actual science. I agree with all the thoughts that an engineer should be well-rounded and know low-level (even occasionally dive into math, or not occasionally if they're working with physics or actual mathematics) and high-level and understand things like IaC. I'd go further to suggest that it's a little bit more basic than just knowing everything/general knowledge. The engineer should have a common approach for any domain, one that focuses on healthy practices and having "mechanical sympathy" and iteratively working upwards to a more complex solution. I've found writing code to be more subjective than I previously thought, getting a positive feeling for how you wrote something is generally a good sign that your design is paying off.

Thank god for our cannibalistic society ... err, capitalistic!

I can't help it is a political move given the recent controversy of an attack on a pretty popular political figure recently in history.
2
QA should be built into the software development. Not necessarily only done after the fact.

I guess you can claim that there are human rights, but societally, I think there's plenty of room for improvement. To live does not mean to be free and to thrive.
2
Its not so strange when you look at the consumption of ESSENTIAL goods in the U.S.. For example, a car and gas. These things have little to do with your health but also have everything to do with you eating healthy. Cheap prices and long-term storage have to be prioritized to justify the costs of extra "essential" things that may as well be utilities. Just breakdown the expenses of an average American, and you might see why additives exist and why the food industry has such low regulations.

I disagree; poor product naming. I wholly believe this is a luxury product for the rich. I like the idea of having a gpt accessible offline, but even open-source models require a beefy setup and don't have great text generation. How is this going to compete with something like Meta's llama or Mistral? How will it run any better in such a small form factor? How will this be accessible to poor people in 3rd world countries? Especially when a cloud subscription might be required for these services? I expect all it will do is allow offline restoration/tracking of your previous workspace/history, but not generation of content, locally. Not very innovative.
2
@Latin00032 It does call HR. Your usage of GPTs is flagged if inappropriate, your account could be disabled and so forth.

You know what "problem" this solves Asmon? It solves Microsoft's money problems! They'll make more money!

I mean... who invented algebra? You can be individually smart and also not have a stable society, especially in the extremities of your country. Rich and educated does not mean you're also not barbaric. Kindness isn't always a value to be educated to or purchased for others. Kindness is also formed around society. Political instability and things of unstable nature in general are all reasons why there aren't large scientific institutions in that part of the world and a general sentiment of the middle east being a region of barbarism. One can easily look at the geographic resources of some of these countries and easily figure out why wealth is more abundant in one place versus a sparsely populated winter wasteland... These people aren't damned, but it's willfully ignorant to forget about how frequently violence spreads in such a part of the world.

I could see the market share becoming more fragmented because of this. Rumble is after all publicly traded, there is money to be had in such a thing, especially when your biggest competitor hurts its own consumer base. I don't see it growing with only one relatively smaller community being ousted, it would need to be at least a few more significant groups.

Incredibly.

Amazon already somewhat does and has done this too.

In multiplayer, only noobs spend so much time talking. They're the saddest. Don't be a noob.

@ironboundfate I somewhat agree with this take but I only think these live-service games have been well taken care of because they're so constrained and uncreative. I think a lot of games are not really games anymore. For the sake of having an idiomatic expression, they're games for casuals. Although I like to say they're mental exercise at best, especially for people with attention deficits. I mean it's not so long ago this channel had a video on a study showing findings that most gamers don't play strategy games anymore. I mean battle royale is just a mod of a military sim game, it's meant to be a dumbed down version of a more in-depth game. Fortnite was always dumbed down, it started off as a super basic tower defense, remember Save the World? They just chase trends and marketing. Modern video games are just walking marketing ads.

They're skins. I don't see why people are getting so offended by skins. Optional, not mandatory.
1
@refeddie Not an excellent foundation for what a video game is supposed to be; fun.
1
There's some version control somewhere, even if its not for the actual development. It does sound scary and this title is going to be stuck in early access limbo if they don't figure out a way to store their working history on it before it goes to heck. (Or it's already in dev he11). Although the parallel release to Xbox seems like they have SOME ideas for managing complexity somewhere.

@zyrtor1 China also has no concept of internet privacy. With things like deep packet inspection being so prevalent for surveilling internet traffic in a country that restricts private VPN usage. So as long as the gov't deems it be "ok," whatever that means, of course you'll be fine! I don't think anyone in the U.S. really refuses the idea that China is more lax on regulation of manufacturing and business... I would say it's more ignorance on people that spout this sort of generalized nonsense; In reality, the U.S. happens to care a fair deal about China. Is it pro*aganda to say that that country produces the most goods also produced the most amount of pollutants? I think it's obvious why they produce them, even your description supports the idea... It's obvious how China makes so many cheap goods. All one has to do is look on the bottom of their plastic good that reads 'made in China' after realizing why it broke after a few days.

@jdjdjdnenebr8912 And what is the supposed understanding of BAYC's intentions..? Even if the inspiration draws from controversial imagery, how could anyone prove the intent is more than esotericism? I think pointing out a handful of inconsistencies in the video's accusation is enough to discredit it, let alone one inaccuracy.
1
I mean... realistically, what's your other option? To go to another corporate owned "cloud" technology..? It's really only for technical people to self-host these kinds of services.

@jacobsmith8377 xcom ufo defense

And in this incoherent ramble, where did you explain how human rights for how a nation at peace treats it own citizens internally can relate to the complex nature of human rights in a warzone..?

@squirrelyshirley7629 Thinking about the origin of your food is a bit of a narrow view. It certainly contributes to health issues that things have additives, but the real question is "why have we come to this point?" What I brought up, it was referring to the fact that you have to drive everywhere just to accomplish the simple task of buying and then eating food from your grocery store let alone your local farm... A larger issue is that we've purposefully made population density low and zoned so poorly, even in urban areas. It has caused so many ripple effects that far exceed the scope and impact of being concerned about local farmers vs. food imports. Not sure how we fix this kind of issue, one that plagues an entire country, but it probably should be the focus over the course of a century.

I think you mean to say greed is a bad vice. Gambling in of itself is just a vehicle for pursuing greed, many things can be considered as "gambling"... If you don't see it as greed, but just a labor of love, that's a lot different, even if it's risky.
1
A lot of Esports games rely on how inaccessible a game is mechanically to others just like an actual sport does. Like basketball having a huge predisposition to tall players. Don't hate the players, hate the game.
1
The age old "YOU'RE 10 YEARS OLD??? Quiet kid!!!" - The 12 year old. The kids love smack talking and upselling themselves. It's an American culture thing.
1
The most proactive way for this problem to not exist is to not have this game exist. Obviously, their business can't afford that. Alternatively, they could make it pay to play instead of free to play.
1
QA is good and all but somebody actually has to fix things. Just because you're paying attention to QA more doesn't necessarily mean anything will get better.

not as bad as tf2 bots

And some cities allow illegal immigrants to do this for delivery apps.

Well.. not necessarily, there is some leadership with a senior dev. @alexissalomon1166 I've seen several projects that dont go into some sort of code repository and they remain successful for their purpose. I dont think releasing an unfinished game like this is impossible. What might be less possible though is any sort of update given the lack of version control.

user-tx4wj7qk4t lol. Too much actual real-world knowledge. I feel for you man.
1
user-tx4wj7qk4t Thanks for the interesting read. What's your background? Mostly curious because this is the sort of thought provoking computer science that interests me and I agree on a fundamental level and want to apply it to as much as my work as I can. Regarding AI right now, you're right. I didn't expect much from AI and mentioning anything subjective to the AI usually produces predictable and boring results. But it does the boilerplate quite well.
1
user-tx4wj7qk4t I had a feeling it would go towards Functional paradigm just from getting a intro to category theory. Something I'm not overly familiar with but wanting to learn more about. Thank you!

Just as the founding fathers intended

Big video. Confirms my suspicions from playing FPS games for over 20 years now.

In my opinion, this is why a designer should only work jobs where the intellectual property they create is only licensed to the company and not owned by the company. Otherwise, how would any designer work for a living? Surely, this is a violation to copyright law/IP law equivalents and will turn into a lawsuit?

If we stopped to care about every online tr*ll that also cites that they now have mental issues, the internet would stop working for days at a time. Going online is not a place for professional therapy and burdening people who don't even get paid to deal with you, it is a place of escape. Only when you go on s*cial media, do you remove this element of the Internet being an "escape," so tread with caution when you get burned or have a thin skin.

@PakiBlinders I agree with the other person's advice. First mistake was using Reddit. It's not good for anyone. God forbid I have to use it for anything that's less than educational. You can still find intelligent discussions without being marred by the indescribable negative qualities of Reddit.
