I have the Taurus copy; the original PT92. Solid, reliable gun.

Hubris strikes at 13:00--but Ian recovers!! I think Ian is the only person with the friendly whimsy to pull off a 14 minute advert/review. Well done!
5
@MrHws5mp Could that have been due to the missions flown? IIRC, the 37mm was intended as a bomber-killer, but was less than ideal for combat with fighters. For ground attack, it would be easy to see why the Soviets liked it--same as the PT boat sailors using it against barges.
5
Do different bullet weights make a difference?
5
They are not going off YouTube, for the vital reason you mention. This will provide a venue for the material YouTube does not allow.
5
Hmmm...had the government Springfield Armory not had its troubles with the M14, would its fate have been different?
5
@TexasSpectre Thanks! I had not heard anything about them since Mas wrote about them.
5
Even Glock, when the first pistols were released, pointed out that the 'dingus' was not a safety in the conventional sense of disabling the trigger, but a feature to prevent firing if dropped or roughly handled.
5
@lairdcummings9092 I've heard the same about Bronx speakers...😜
5
Ian needs a steampunk costume for these early semiautos. With the hair and goatee, he'd look perfect!
5
Cool! The smoke coming out the ejection port when suppressed clearly shows the issue of gas blowback from using a can.
5
@Kesssuli It's also easy to overlook when they were being sold by the barrels for next to nothing.
5
Well done! While it's a great holster, Kydex and Tok is still a bit...off. 😜 How did the pistol make it into the States without a safety? Pre-GCA?
5
@Critical_Path That's why I was a bit surprised the bolt carrier wasn't nickeled like the rest of the gun. The dark finish will show the slightest scratch or wear.
5
@thebigballistician The Marines never procured the M9A3. That was a private Beretta venture to compete in the XM17 Modular Handgun System program. When it was dropped, Beretta went on to sell the M9A3 on the civilian market.
5
The dirt and scuff adds character, IMO.
5
The spur-hammer variants aren't bad. At least my Argie doesn't bite me, though I have felt the hammer touch the web of my hand on occasion.
5
Ah. I hope you found a way to deak with the bite. Other than hammer bite, High-Powers are really nice handling pistols. The original, round hammer bites me hard
5
@tdugong Thanks! I needed that...

Oopsie...the rear sight is windage-adjustable only, aside from the flip apartures; elevation is with the front sight, typical A1 configuration. The AK connection for the moderator is news! Thanks. :)
4
The workmanship looks really good; I can see it as a concept for military service, since it would be easier to remain behind cover while reloading.
4
Sooo cuuute..! Thanks for explaining the cylinder marking; it makes perfect sense. It had always seemed to me to be rather ostentatious, and simply a fad of the times.
4
@paullytle1904 Henry would wring it out properly, but when Ian said, 'Schutzen', I immediately thought of Mike at a Swiss range, shooting according to the old rules. That's his cup of tea...
4
I saw the ad on Bloke's channel...HILARIOUS! Only Ian could have pulled it off.
4
I have seen it proposed that the sharply angled grip was thought to be better for prone shooting.
4
Nice! Hurry up with the A1 video; I really want to see the insides, especially the water jacket. Was it a simple tank with the barrel running through, or was there some internal piping? Also, just to note, I have seen a photo of US Marines carrying an M1917 in the Korean War. From the day when 'heavy' machine guns were employed like artillery.
4
Trivia: The light line carried by the projectile is called a 'messenger'. ALSO, until helicopters came along, breeches buoys or similar (high line) systems were used to transfer people between ships--a possibly wet, wild (or even fatal) ride!
4
I can just imagine touching that trigger before you get it snugged in tight...😬
4
Thanks for the nudge toward Utreon! I subscribed to Full30 back in the day, but I couldn't get it to work right.
4
Thanks for all the comments. This has been enlightening! :)
4
It's a bit off-topic, but thanks for explaining about the 'Sh' sound. I've seen where the PPSh was pronounced 'Pay-Pay Shah'; now I understand why. :)
4
Those became very popular with competition revolvers in the '80s and '90s.
4
I have to get my M1A (plain mil-spec clone) out!
4
I have to wonder if someone pranked Ian with that recoil spring..🤔.😄
4
@doncarlodivargas5497 As I grew up through the 1960s civil rights revolution, it seemed to me that Southerners actually came to terms better than the north. Yes, there was an initial rash of private schools, but over time, the prejudice has waned. There was also very little violence through the '60s, compared with race riots that occurred in other parts of the country. My perception is that the recent unrest has had political motivation.
4
Any idea who first noticed that a nudge on the dust cover recess did the job just as well, without risking jamming a round into the chamber?
4
My hand nearly started bleeding just looking at that hammer and grip tang...
4
To my eye, cutting back the dust cover made the pistol look better. The CZ75 pattern is surprisingly widespread; I wonder who else has picked up on it.
4
Didn't they have a BAR, or am I thinking of another gangster? Pre-NFA '34 anybody with the cash could own one.
4
'Rimless' cartridges are about as old as the Russian cartridge, and do have advantages over rimmed rounds. For 'Western' countries, those advantages were worth the investment--note the British pretty much ditched the .303 (a rimmed cartridge) right after WWII. For the Russians, the 7.62x54R is still good enough GPMG and precision rifle use.
4
BRAVO! A pox on GWACS!
4
Then there's loose ammo and reloading gear...just bumming off the riflemen won't cut it. Machine guns are starving beasts.
4
@Jeff.78 Yep! A bit of movie fiction; but that didn't stop the gun-grabbers from trying to paint all Glocks with that brush. Some actually believed it.
4
A 'Combat Eel'? The lack of forward weight to hold the muzzle down didn't help, either.
4
So Harry's input wasn't satisfactory?? SERIOUSLY, this was one of the most fascinating videos Ian's ever produced.
4
@georgemueller8014 Ah. Thanks!
4
@davidcolter Thanks!
4
But not a Tisas... 😉
4
I was thinking of a kid's attempt to draw a MAG.
4
NINE HOLES OR NOTHING!! Sorry, couldn't resist... :D
