I lived in the South for one year and the only time they realized how racist they are is when they saw the utter shock on my face. Little kids throwing racist slurs at each other is the norm. It shook me to my core. NE has hate yes. It is so minimal compared to the South. You have NOT lived in the south to make such a blind statement. This upsets me because my parents wouldn't allow it in their home. I was raised to believe it is unacceptable in any form. If you ever visit a bar down south you can expect to be blamed by southerners for the civil war and allowing minorities to push you northerners around. They are not joking. This page is littered with southern racists and they don't know it. It is their norm.

My education regarding the savage treatment and genocide of our Native Americans was not taught at all. Our early presidents tried to annihilate the Native Americans and you won't find that in public schools. It was reported Hitler used the same horrific ideologies to annihilate the Jewish people. There's a movie "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee." that describes some of it, like a snapshot of history but not the US 1000's of wars and attacks.
