Just like the drug policy which disproportionately sends minorities to prison, gun legislation disproportionately affects minorities as well. I just don't think a random sampling placed on a board is enough to fight the corruption in the system. It's like when you're trying to mix paint. It's always recommended to add dabs of dark color to a lighter color. Corporate boards are like large globs of black that you're trying to lighten up.

I think those things are really meant as employment incentives rather than ways to give employees any form of voice. I mean don't get me wrong I like compensation; it's not exactly a substitute for direct voice though.

  38. I think David gets this somewhat wrong. A lot of identity politics is people coopting the individual achievements of others as their own (because they have no actual achievements of their own) on the basis of sharing 0.01% genetic profile with these individuals. Once the achievements are coopted, they get to run around under some air of authority. When you look at people like this (Proud Boys come to mind), on an individual basis... if you strip away the things they coopt, you essentially find some very base, very empty individuals.
