For them, science does not comment on the existence of a deity, neither does their bible serve as a reference book for matters clearly scientific. The two were separated quite clearly some hundreds of years ago. The ones who miss out the most seem to be those who cling to their bible as their only source of knowledge about the real world. You can find them hereabouts as flat Earthers and others who seem unable or unwilling to accept that science and technology have given us real knowledge of the world around us - even as they use the fruits of said disciplines, such as mobile phones and the internet, to spruik their untenable beliefs.

Um, somebody somewhere said that Captain Cook or Admiral Byrd or someone said it's there...do you realize just how dumb all that is? So, what does that tell us about you? Go on, have a guess.

All that is required is that other flattards seem to be happy with what appears to be supporting "evidence". Further, no amount of evidence that fails to support these claims has the slightest impact on flattards and their loose bunch of claptrap ideas. Theirs is not an equivalent but misguided weltanschauung - they have no grasp of basic science or its method, they seem motivated by a belief in worldwide but unverified conspiracies, and often invoke their bible as if it were a valid reference. If you try to tell us that they don't believe the towers to be that way, then you don't work with competent surveyors or, more likely, with surveyors at all.   39. Most of what we need to learn is already being taught. However, so many students don't have the intellect to grasp the concepts, and/or have the interest to harness the skills. Are the schools failing? Maybe, that is not certain. Somewhat more likely is that there is no shortage of online charlatans, conspiracy theorists and cranks who are only too happy to capture those who did not develop the skills to defend themselves against them. Remember, the internet is a relatively recent phenomenon. I doubt that the percentage of simple folk has increased, merely the absolute number. They were just less visible, and had less contact with each other (and us) before the internet became common.
