Qualified immunity needs to be abolished or completely overhauled. We would see an immediate positive change in how law enforcement perceives and treats private citizens.

I signed the petition. A petition for criminal charges should also be sent out.
382
The "he deserved it defense" must never be permitted.
344
How in the hell did a judge sign an arrest warrant for this? This is either an egregiously illegal act by the government, or there is a lot more to this story. I need a lot more information.
207
He wasn't even in the park. No crime was committed.
75
@FrugalShave She should refuse all settlement offers and go all the way to trial.
72
I can just see him punching his wife in the face and saying, "when you step out of line or disobey my orders, there are consequences."

That's the problem, you police your own. Someone else needs to police you.
44
That's sexual assault.
35
That judge needs to be thrown off the bench and jailed for about 5 years so she can sit and think about her utterly ridiculous and illegal actions and attitude. Who the F does this doddering power tripping "judge" think she is? God?
30
@MuzixMaker I never allow a cop get behind me.
29
@mcstench8913 Exactly.
29
@ricksomething Possibly. But he adequately explained his actions and provided a method to verify.
28
@dephraction_99 I agree, but some states say that safety of the cop and the public are more important and that false arrests should be litigated in court and not at the scene. But in Maryland, for example, state law does allow people to resist unlawful arrests.
23
It depends on the state. Some states make it illegal to resist an unlawful arrest.
21
@courtneesdad That's not for the cops to decide, it's for a jury. The "he had it coming" defense doesn't work.
21
@ricksomething Whether people lie or not is irrelevant. His actions fit his explanation and he told the cop how to verify with the owner of the vehicle.
19
@daveb2280 I'd take it if I were a lawyer. The issue for me wasn't the chase, but their behavior and their blatant use of excessive force after being handcuffed.
18
"I hate that guy." -Feelings Enforcement NPC
18
@phiddlephart7026 The security guard should have probably asked.
17
@thefourfourfour9512 The jailhouse/gang tats on cops make me laugh. They have delusions of badassery. I really laugh at those stupid Drill Instructor hats the troopers wear....I thought you're supposed to wear hats on your head, not on your forehead. Lol.
14
You know Gary is voting for Kamala Harris.
13
I'm a Trump supporter, but I don't think he's aware of what's going on in law enforcement. This is one issue on which I strongly disagree with him.
12
@stevejette2329 Yes, they should have believed him and let him be once he reasonably dispelled their suspicion.
12
@dangeary2134 I know. It's disgusting.
12
I was laughing hard too. 😂
12
The guy on the bike could have lawfully employed lethal self defense.
12
@mikealvord55 Well, if the shoe fits. Put me in a cage with piggie for 10 mins, I'll get some justice for the victim.
11
I thought interfering has to be a physical act, not simply the use of speech.
10
Agreed. Same here.
10
@101mazz Isn't that the truth. The few encounters I've had with female police felt like a d*** measuring contest.
10
@littlebitlost Same for me if a cop did that to my family member.
9
@gorak9000 I'm actually in the process of writing a book on the poor state of law enforcement and what actions may be taken to fix it.
8
The victim isn't that old.
8
@greygtv6 Very few police are killed every year during an encounter with the public. Most officer deaths are caused by traffic accidents, because many seem to think that an hour of driver training make them Ayrton Senna or Lewis Hamilton. Just an interesting fact...the occupations of landscaping and crossing guard are more dangerous than law enforcement; in fact, law enforcement isn't even in the top 20.
8
He won't still be there after this video.
8
@FelixUmbra Qualified immunity isn't necessary. When the agents of the judicial system repeatedly abuse these protections at the expense of the safety, freedom, and the prosperity of free citizens, it needs to be abolished. As far as I'm aware, only LE in the US enjoy the privileges of QI. QI also violates one of the Peelian principles of modern law enforcement (the nine principles upon which the institution of US law enforcement is supposed to be based).
7
I really never understood that. Protecting civil rights and acting as a bulwark against law enforcement and judicial overreach would be the only reasons I would consider becoming an attorney. There must be checks and balances...IA and judicial review boards are pseudo checks and balances since they are comprised of the very same people from those institutions.
7
One correction: she's not elderly. But yes, these cops need to be criminally charged with 2nd degree assault.
7
@jsncrso Correct. If someone can't be professional and remain neutral when it's difficult to do, then they shouldn't be a cop.
7
@Fiveash-Art I know, but it's a start.
7
Agreed.
6
@TheUnholyPosole It was actually worse before, no cameras.
5
@ETicketM It's state dependent.
5
@downhomesunset I know a 70 year old who would own that piggy.
5
@duanejackson6718 False. The victims explanation fit the circumstances observed by the cop, and he was committing no crime. You don't get to demand ID because of a subjective belief, but for a set of objective facts which meet a legal standard.
5
I'm going to go and do that next week. I'm also going to cover the lenses on any speed cameras I come across. Hey, the cops set the example, now they have to reap what they sow.
5
Any law enforcement officer who enforces unconstitutional laws on behalf of government tyrants in an effort to curry favor or to protect their little pensions,is an enemy of the state and should be treated accordingly.
5
I don't know why any of these people would have a high salary.
