  7. probably because you had to be brutal to rank up. in a democracy they just need to get votes and be charismatic and have good ideas .and in older monarchy governments they just had women in charge if she was first in the succession line some countries only had female rulers when no high ranking noble men were available .

  10. When i try to "find" movies online they often have really low quality Russian dubs that is one of the reasons i started learning Russian but the dubs are so bad they ruin the movie why do Russians tolerate that wouldn't subtitles be better you guys can read..... right?

  13. it must have been so interesting seeing your country being founded. my country was founded in 1830 so nobody alive today remembers it. but there is a big separatist movement here but i doubt they will ever win since many people here think nationalism is the ultimate evil i am not sure of they are good or bad myself.

As much as i don't like communism you got to admit that was pretty impressive sending people in space before america back in the early 1960s and other rich capitalist countries. even today most countries can't do it and stick to satellites. imagine if they didn't give up we would have bases on the moon and mars and probably some manned missions to the moons of Jupiter and Saturn by now.

  45. nothing against hockey and other sports but i am sure there was a lot more hype about sports like hockey back then compared to now. since life was more boring especially in the ussr were tv was unwatchable most of the time. these days there is more diversity in entertainment so not everyone is watching sports anymore .its still very popular but people were obsessed with sports back then. i don't remember this period and was never into hockey but i used to be more interested in the football world cups and rally and f1 racing. but now i don't care about it anymore if i was alive in the 80s or earlier i would probably be obsessed with it. i mean sure its still super popular but it seemed all consuming in the past
